There is no right to self defence in Canada. It’s covered in the Criminal Code, but is totally ignored by police and Crown attorneys, even if force you use is proportional.
When did we as Canadians allow the government to push us this far down the shit hole? There needs to be changes made now before it's to late. Every living soul anywhere on this planet has the right to protect him or herself. This should never have changed and the saddest part is, IMO of course this has nothing to do with safety of one group or another. This is simply a popularity contest. Let's face it, the percentage that are against firearms for example out number the pro firearm group. So in order to be re-elected it makes sense to appease the group with the largest number of possible votes. So all kinds of BS is thrown out there that the anti-firearm group just eats up, even though most of what is said are lies, but it sounds good and gets votes. So the ones running for office tell these lies, put innocent people at potential risk and give more rights to the criminal element in doing so just to win that popularity contest!! Makes me want to vomit.
One thing that needs to be improved is clarity. Proportional force needs to be defined clearly. I don't get the first example how pulling a knife is not proportional. He punched you, is much bigger, and has you grabbed. You need a weapon for it to be proportional. He can easily keep punching until you die or are seriously injured beyond original health. A knife is proportional because its life or death. Fists are a weapon. Can't just hope that he doesn't go to far if you can't defend yourself with fists if you are weaker and don't know how to fight. Why do we care so much about the life of an aggressor anyway? They started the conflict.
The laws we have in Canada are just completely insane when it comes to our safety and security in our homes. To expect an ordinary citizen to act within their home with the control and restraint of a trained officer when there is an intruder with unknown intent is sheer madness and stupidity. That home owners in Canada have been convicted of injuring or killing someone who broke into their home, and as an unavoidable result created fear and panic within the homeowner who then reacted with (probably uncontrolled) force is an absolute outrage. Only in the most clear-cut cases of an intruder being already restrained or incapacitated and then brutally assaulted or killed should the question of homeowner culpability ever come up. Further to this, there is something so terribly wrong with our legal system or the application of the law in so many areas it makes one wonder if there just might be some massive undertaking to undermine not just Canadian society but the whole of Western society as well.
In these situations there is no referee in your house, you can’t ask the guy if it’s dark you have a knife or a gun? But the government has the right to pick apart your response according to lawyers. This is wrong and an abuse of power

Never plead guilty. If you find you must plead to something negative, plead no contest. No contest has the advantage of limiting your civil liability from lawsuits.

People dont know their rights....it is insane, Did you know that BY LAW any public worker can be INSIDE your housse taking pictures of your naked girlfriend from 8 am to 7 pm everyday of the week, and even more, if you dont help him as he wish, it is a 300$ fine. It is the canadian law
Unfortunately it doesnt matter if its self defense in canada. They'll charge you anyway. Trudeau has said it multiple times..canadians have no right to self defense.
@@activision4170 immediately being charged with a crime, and having your action analyzed for wrong doing are not the same thing.. what if someone is actually completely innocent and/or justified... the police charge them anyway. That person can't afford an attorney....guess what happens... I think people put entirely too much faith in the justice system and those who operate within it.

You can't just say 'oh it was self defense, don't worry about it', while someone's dead on the floor. In most cases, there aren't charges anyway. If it's such a clear cut case that was clearly justified, they can just get a public defendant .

I was victim of a home invasion he was a ugandan refugee with a 10 inch knife. Now he lives in a all inclusive coed facility free medical free dental. And i threw him down the front stairs and was accused of asualt by the prosecutor for exsesive force. Thank god i was able to dodge the knife swipe.
