the fact the vault the master is hiding in isnt some named/once occupied vault but a actual test vault that was never meant to be used makes the area way more disturbing for me
I modded Fallout 4 to have this, Flame of the Ancient World, and City of Lost Angels to play in the Glowing Sea, and it really amps up the desolate atmosphere.
Picture this: its nighttime and you find a parking lot with a security gate in the middle of the area. On the floor, you discover a vault hidden by a grate. You walk and crawl through the irradiated waste of the old world and you find an old radio and follow a beacon until you find a huge door. You realize it's a Vault, and it makes you recoil in terror. As you push the button the drill and the loud screeches of old metal makes you shiver. As you walk through, you find the Overseer's office overlooking the courtyard. As you look for anything to nab or sell, you hear a disembodied voice. You look around and you find nothing. All the sudden, you here Gettttt outtttt in a raspy, scratchy voice. Then the lights go out. BOOM! The emergency lights are on and the malfunctioning voice is like e!$@:@# light% on and then, pitch black darkness. You hear scratches like a heavy pole dragging on the concrete floor and you hear STUPID HUMAAAN! This you discover is an experimental FEV Vault as you burn through the Super Mutants you hear a growl. You've woken up a experimentally modified Deathclaw and its smaller cousins. You died because it was too quick and they can open doors.
These comments be so old, w game though, it's sad people don't really like classic fallout, they all want more bethesta trash, black isle studios and interplay are the real ones fr
I grew up with the Bethesda games and when I first launched the classic fallout 1 recently I was just in shock of how creepy the main theme was. When you boot up fallout 4 3 and even new Vegas your greated with an inspiring theme that hypes you up like you’re about to go on an awesome adventure. However when you launch fallout 1 the music is very eerie and quiet telling you that this place is not modern day America but a very evil and corrupted world that humanity will never recover from. No bs, your not a super hero saving the people of the wasteland, your trying to survive in a world where your species isn’t welcome anymore. isn’t it fun? Don’t you just want to live in the fallout universe? This is the exact type of music I’d think of when I think of the apocalypse.
It may be strange to say, but this OST alone is why I always finish a playthrough of Fallout 1 at the Cathedral. The best way I can describe it is how much it evokes the feeling of this being the final boss and the end of your long journey awaiting you through those doors.
To be honest. The overseer really cared for his vault. He didn't want people to leave. He just needed the population to stay safe, but i guess he's already dead by the residents of the vault, and half of them started new civilization in shady sands. Poor overseer and poor vault dweller.
