Do we know for certain that the system is accurate, though? How does it calibrate to each hitter's specific strike zone? How does it even define the upper and lower limits of the strike zone?
This is terrible for the marlins but also a very marlins move. They should honestly move to gainesville, rebrand as the Florida Marlins (again), wear UF color, sign former UF guys (Pete Alsono). Would have a much larger fan base.

I've seen that particular catcher positioning being called interference, so it really depends on the umpire. It shouldn't, but that's how the rule is written. I'd rather err on the side of the catcher not getting blown up. Those are long-term injuries.

If I had to choose between charging with no armor or being hit by a charger with a bunch of armor- I’m choosing the armor. Catchers definitely a lot safer a position to play compared to ANY of the other ones. It’s the only position u get to dressed like a damn swat team member
Idk if you’ve ever work catchers gear but that shit is not like football or hockey pads. You have decent protection on your legs but your chest and head gear is to protect against baseballs, not 180lbs human barreling into you. Even with the gear a foul tip or even blocking balls in the dirt hurt like a bitch sometimes
Negative FIP is consequence of the statistical math used to calculate it. It is an artifact of the fact FIP is not based solely on counting stats that are know without uncertainty. There are assumption made that result in factors with uncertain values. For all intents and purposes a FIP <0 has no additional meaning than a FIP of zero.
