Hey there, I'm Jon and you've stumbled upon my RU-vid Channel 316 RACING. 316 RACING Channel is about my 2018 Shelby GT350 also known as "BIG Nasty" and the fun we have cutting up and tracking and racing this beast at various events and tracks around the country. Our home track, where we do all of our practicing, is Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. I was a member at AMP since the beginning of 2018 but have since joined DCRA (Driving Club of Road Atlanta) and have been having a blast ever since. Come along for the ride and watch myself, and BIG Nasty get pushed to our limits...
Nice driving! You did well on this lap. You're moving for sure. I compared this to your other 1:33 lap. Two places you could have picked up time for sure was on the two straights. Between 5-6 you lifted and in your other video you didn't. Also, on the back straight you stayed in the power all the way until the red Motul sign. You hit 153mph there. I think with your new setup you'd be doing 165mph. haha. So I know that can be intimidating. I think you could easily run 1:31's but it's just getting used to that new suspension and controlling that power. Car sounds awesome.
Awesome job !!! That is a great lap time in the heat ! I'm thinking 32s easily this fall. 90 in turn 1 above 50 in 7 then 160 braking into 10a that will get you in the 32s most deffently.
Hope you really think about what all that flashy safety gear you have on was made and sold for. Shouldve been black flagged for all the safety issues going on here :P
Will you be my Mike Honcho"?? Haha... Awesome job !!! My friend.. you'll be seeing 32s this fall with no problem . Big Nasty's a get'en it down the back straight now Great to see you back lots of hard work .
Is the seat bottom mounted? Would your setup accommodate a side mount setup? You would get some better car feel if the seat was moving around less imo.
Appreciate the comment, buddy. I don't even notice it. The halos are gonna flex some as I generate some amount of G's and because of the design with them sticking out like they do. It's a carbon fiber seat.
@@316racingchannel9 true. I had Corbeau’s at one point that were bottom mounted and mine did the same thing. I changed the mount and went to a Sparco and noticed a difference in the car feel. The Sparco didn’t move at all with the side mount.
Hey Jeremy, where did your comment go on the video I posted yesterday? You had some good points I wanted to use buddy. It disappeared for some reason. Thanks man.
@@316racingchannel9 thought I was a little critical so I deleted it. Essentially, stay in the throttle on the straights. You want one braking point with no coasting if possible. Your lap was close in time to your old best, but when you had less power. Study your old videos for comparison. When are you getting on throttle? How fast were you going at entry and exit? Are you tracking out enough? What was I doing different in the old lap time vs what I am doing now? Etc. If you compare them enough things will start to jump out at you.
@JeremyGSU2011 Love it! Thanks Jeremy! I didn't think that at all. I took it as constructive criticism. I will be the first to admit that I don't know it all and that there is ALWAYS room for improvement. I consider myself still a rookie at all this. The moment you think you know it all and that you have it mastered, bad things will happen. I appreciate you taking the time to analyze everything buddy. That's how I look at it. Thanks again brother!!
nothing wrong with bringing an srt-10 to the track, it has upgraded suspension and obviously way more power from the factory. I'm sure slower cars have been on mid ohio, plus he was following track etiquette.
No he wasn't, he should've signaled the camera car to pass. Even if his truck had 1200 hp, camera car out corners him 20 fold. He indeed should've stayed off the track. This isn't a drag strip.
GT350 more than likely isn't stock and the driver is not a newbie and clearly knows the cars ability and limits. It comes down to a few thing, Drivers skills, car setup, track familiarity and vehicle familiarity. GT350 driver clearly has all of the needed criteria, not so sure about the vette driver though.
Lol I know right. Those things are unbelievable. I'd much rather pay $58k than $250k+ for a car though. And have just as much fun. But again, those cars are king out there no doubt.
Oh man, that's a beautiful car buddy. Love it! Imo German cars are so far ahead of American that it's not even funny. I'm a member at Road Atlanta and run up against BMW, Porsche, and Mercedes all the time, and I'm here to tell you that they just glide around on track. It's a thing of beauty. They are very smooth automobiles. Congratulations, that's an awesome car you have there good sir!
@@316racingchannel9 I haven’t tracked it, but I can say that far and away it has a surreal driving experience at the limit (open highways). Instead of narrowing in your focus in front of you, like tunnel vision, you get more of a feeling like you own the whole horizon. It is fun.
Wasn’t anything “epic” in this “battle,” lol…just a guy who was kinda fast on the straight, but wildly inconsistent whenever a corner showed up…had multiple opportunities to pass the other Mustang, but couldn’t figure it out…and then blames the truck? Hire an instructor…
Hey Mike, I appreciate the kind words sir. I hope you have a blessed day and your life is enriched with happiness and you and your family are stay safe and healthy out there. Take care sir...
different cars and performance metrics. I was testing there once and Spencer Pumpelly was there also in a Grand Am 911 (I was in a Lola S2). Spencer had me on the back straight, but I always caught him by turn 3; nose to tail until 7, then he took off again. Lots of fun.
I think a lot of y'all are missing the point. This is more to counteract the stereotypical "Mustang owners can't drive" trope rather than the ability of the machine.
lol, you are what I call a ‘straight line driver’ meaning, and you see it all the time with people who can afford a powerful vehicle but can’t drive, you floor it on the straight because, well, you can but once a curve shows up you slow to ‘Grandma speed’…🤣
Lol, you are what I call a "jealous hater" meaning, and you see it all the time with people who can't afford a powerful vehicle and are just unhappy in their own life so they have to project hate onto the world. I feel sorry for you dude. I hope and pray you find peace and happiness and remember, Jesus loves you!! 😘
Yes sir I do. I have a 6 pt harness and wear a Hans. Literally just got the car back this past Friday from putting a full roll cage in it. Can't be safe enough out there. Thank you for the kind words Darrell!!
Thanks Ray. I appreciate the criticism. Admittedly, I'm merely an amateur trying to have fun. What do you drive Ray? Hope you have a blessed day Mr. Dona.
