Here I was doing my thing at VIR when out of nowhere a Corvette C7 Z06 comes blowing by me. Could I keep up with my 526 hp to the Z06's 650 hp? Starting on lap 6 is the tale of the tape. Best lap time was a 1:39. Hope y'all enjoy...
Dang, VIR looks like a TON of fun! Cool track. Loving the elevation changes -- kind of up the hill and back down. Was fun watching you keep up w/ the Z06 and seeing the lap times drop!
Guy in Vette is a good conservative driver that was not driving the Vette aggressive enough to push it to its limit that would have at the very least kept up with or maybe passed the mustang.
No I wish buddy. Just your standard 1 7/8"×3" header and exhaust. You can go to Americanracingheaders.com and check em out. I love em and the fitment was perfect.
@@316racingchannel9 Not always the case and you should know this. C7 z06 is faster than the 991 facelift gt 3 rs at VIR and and at Laguna Seca (both driven by randy pobst. Faster than the new 2023 M4 CSL (which has a similar straight-line speed as the GT500 at VIR) at the nurburgring.
Looks like a no to me on your proposed question,,,,,,,I agree the driver yeah you did good, but not his car,,,,,,,you drive pretty good, love the video about this traxk
Either that Z06 is not working properly or that isn’t a Z06. I have a 2016 2Lz Z06 and it accelerates much quicker and handles a lot better then this car.
I had an 80 z28 and my friend had a Granada with v8 in it. He used to beat me all the time. Then I let him drive my car, it was way faster than with me driving it.
Great job man I love VIR. Just a heads up though advance trac is slowing you down a lot and it eats up your brakes in the process too. Better off shutting it all off and just being as smooth as possible which you seem to not have a problem with anyway. You don’t need that getting in your way man. Easy 2 seconds in there alone being able to accelerate out of some of these corners and getting that rotation you want
@@316racingchannel9 I have been running supercar 3rs on my gt right now that I’m pretty much done with then I’m switching to pirelli scrubs. I’ve driven the Hoosiers both A7 and R7 on my dads 2020 GT500 so now I’m confident on slicks that I can control the car without the systems. With the slicks it’s even worse because of how soft the tires are that the advance trac gets confused and kicks in more often.
Yea I haven't gotten the nuts to do that yet if I'm being honest. I run the 3R's too. I actually like them. I haven't tried the Hoosiers yet or any slicks. I will one day though for sure. Ever get to Road Atlanta?
@@316racingchannel9 not yet furthest I’ve gone is VIR so far. I went there for the first time in the beginning of March and what a blast it was. Also was my first time with Chin and they are top notch
I can confirm that for you Joel. Randy and I go way back and there is no doubt he can drive better than me. He is a professional driver where as I am an amateur weekend track rat warrior. There is no comparison, not even close. Randy can drive his ass off big time...
Thank you for the kind words Alan. The hood vents definitely help with Temps. Air has somewhere to go now. With the addition of the hood pins too it helps keep the hood from vibrating at high speeds. I had a bad issue with that before putting in the vents and hood pins. Now it doesn't move at all.
You’re welcome. I always learn from faster cars with moderate to experienced drivers. So much fun. Good information regarding the hood. I have been looking into getting another hood to add vents for the heat extraction.
I don't think HP made the difference either way . Unless you were on the backstretch, the speeds seam pretty equal. On the straight he pulls away, but that was overcome by outbreaking him into the curves. It simply comes down to driver skills and or confidence and how hard they want to push the car.
Start with this... go to chintrackdays.com and read their requirements. There are many groups that go to all these tracks that you can run with. Most all of them have the same requirements.
@316 RACING CHANNEL my car needs substantial beefing up anyway so if I don't get a chance this summer, hopefully next summer. Going to check link. Car needs brakess, front struts, better oil pan and pickup, better rollbar, clutch, aos, at the very least lol. Probably Pop the motor if I don't strengthen it up.
Bless your heart Geraldine. Does it make you feel better to be hater? Are you one of those people? Well don't worry, Jesus still loves you even though you are a hater. I hope you have a blessed day, week and year Geraldine. I'll be routing for ya!!
It appears to me that you were scrubbing too much speed, entering right-handed turn at the end of the straight. I think that you could've carried some more speed through that corner.
Oh for sure. It was my first time doing the north course @ VIR. My line was not the best by any stretch. I should be able to pick up a couple seconds next time I go learning from all the mistakes I made. The car was in track mode but TC was still kicking in at times. I'm not good enough to take it completely off. Thanks for the comment.
@@316racingchannel9 I'm not a racer, so my opinion doesn't mean a lot...that said I thought you drove the piss out of your car. Hella fun and thanks for taking us along!
I thought the driver of the Mustang drove well within his limits. His lines were good and never got in trouble. I also didn't see him or hear him scrubbing speed thru turn one, as was mentioned. I did feel that he likely had less track experienced than the Vette, he appeared careful under breaking, choosing to break earlier rather than trail breaking to better set the frontend and increase his roll speed thru the corners.
Love the GT350, but technology keeps moving too fast to own these long term. My 18 Widebody Hellcat was made obsolete the following year with the Red Eye, then the Super Sport, and Jail Break, now the Demon 170. We almost need to lease performance cars these days...
I know right. Mines an 18' too. I would love to have more power. I actually need it, but I'm terrified to boost the voodoo engine. I'm hoping to get the new Darkhorse S or R in 2024. You are so right man...
This is true, but some of us like older body styles and a particular engine. I have a 13’ Boss and I’ll never get rid of it. The S197 body is my fav and the roadrunner engine in it is no slouch. I love NA engines, but if I ever boost it, it would beat 99.99% of all the cars on the road.
@@user-Dr. pffft , I had one of those and even though it was built stout with many upgrades it still couldn’t beat a ZO6 , I’m calling bullshit on your comment 🤡
@@316racingchannel9 You bet, you deserved it. The Corvette has an aluminum chassis, lighter, better weight distribution and double wish bones all around. More HP, but does have heat soak issues. Anyway, you did the the Mustangs proud with that run. Love that Shelby sound too. Keep it up.
If that is the case, it sure shows the Corvette prowess. What is that 465HP to 526HP. I aways thought the Gran Sport should have more hp, than the base Corvettes. Probably hit the Z06 sales though. @@bigredracingdog466
Without that long back straight and the uphill esses... yeah, the GT350 can keep up with the higher HP car. Add in that loooong back straight and the fast and beautiful uphill esses and... not so much.
Nice driving but that is actually a Grand Sport and not a Z06...basically a Z06 with the base vette motor, so you out power him. Z06 has clear taillights.
@316 RACING CHANNEL my day is great!! I'm about to hop in my vette and tear up the streets!!! Hope your day gets better!!🤣🤣🤣 oh wow you're the type that likes his own messages!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 definitely hope your day gets better!!!
Thanks for the kind words on me and my buddy's driving. Hope you have a blessed day, sir, and only great things happen to you and your family and y'all stay safe. God bless!
Sooo, were you just doing laps waiting for this guy to come out of the pits? The best of your first 5 laps were 1:42-1:43. As soon as he passes by, the rest were 1:39-1:40..
I was actually waiting on my buddy to catch up with me so we could run together but he ended up getting caught in traffic so I decided to go on without him.
Thats a grand sport and its only 495hp compared to the 530hp of the gt350 and the driver of the mustang looks like a better driver than the person in the vette..so i would say no the gt350 cannot keep up with a C7 on the track. A mustang is not a good track car..it had a hard time getting around the 425hp camaro..stangs are straight liners..
Thanks for the encouragement Jon boy. What do you drive and what tracks have you been to? Bless your heart, I hope your day gets better for you. Remember... Jesus loves you no matter what. And yes, even if you're a hater like you are. Have a blessed day Jon boy!
@@316racingchannel9 Jon boy.!!!!!..🤣🤣🤣...Mister, that expression made my day!!! Thank you so much!!....I admit, I wouldn't have so much patience for trolls, haters, and the like. Have a great Sunday!
There always has to be a hater in the crowd and that looks like it's you rgl. Give yourself a hand rgl for being such a good hater!!! Bravo rgl, you are awesome!! 👏👏👏👏
I know man. Those corvettes are notorious for it. My buddy has a C7 and he hates it. It's always overheating on him. Thank God I don't have that issue. Little over 30,000 track miles and she's never overheated. Not once!
@@316racingchannel9 My buddy tracked his 1le Camaro...another buddy had a Gt350. The Camaros ran all day while the Mustangs where constantly in the pits cooling down. The motor is the 350 was replaced at 17000 miles. He was part of the class action law suit against Ford regarding the overheating issues. Ford replaced it and it's been good since.
@ModernMuscleCar too bad this is the last year for the camero. It won't be back until 2035 in ev only. That's crazy to me. I have several buddies that have the zl1 1le and that's a badass car imo...
