couple years ago picked one up myself. Purpose was surf for stripers & halibut here in CA. Was able to take it out to get sense of it. Was sensitive enough and casted 4oz like a dream. Had my Tsunami Saltx 6000 with 30lb Power Pro SSV2. It was pretty nice for my purpose. Agree it's definitely a bit bendy for sturgeon. I have a different brand 12' rod for bigger critters & creatures.

Thank you for mentioning the use of leaded line for the buoys. It always is risky when boating near crab buoys because many people just use the cheap floating nylon line. If I use nylon line I insert lead core into it near the buoy to sink the line. Thank you also for attaching the buoys in the right direction.

I don’t think it matters too much, but we always secure the tag end with zip ties and then wrap it with electrical tape because that lead rope doesn’t cinch down very well. Hope that helps, and good luck out there.

June 11, 2024-- I purchased this exact rod in 2021. Because I have had a long term illness, I didn't use it until last week. Using a red/white bobber and 1/8oz weight, the pole broke 1 1/2ft from the tip. Fluke? I;m sticking with Penn.

Call me naive, but why don't you just trim the tag end with finger nail clippers and not have a dangling tag? Thats what i do.
@NorthwestOpenSeason

I found that the closer I trim the tag end, the more damage it does going through bait. Especially with heavier lines.

Flip the magnets around on the original one and the bracket could sit on top of the tailgate and be less likely to slip down or fall off.
@NorthwestOpenSeason
@NorthwestOpenSeason 7 месяцев назад
That’s a good idea, but I have a protective plastic guard on the end of my tailgate that inhibits the magnets. It doesn’t slip anyway, I added another magnet bar to the back. Thanks for the comment.

I've read nothing but good things about these gloves, watched that guy who compares a bunch of different products head to head (can't remember his name off hand) and these blew all the competitors out of the water in most of the tests he put them through. Only problem is, they increased the price of these from $15 to $25 since you made this video. Most of the 6mil nitrile gloves are still $10 to $15 per box of 100 gloves. Kinda hard to justify spending $25 on disposable gloves, especially when they nearly doubled the price in a few short years
@NorthwestOpenSeason
@NorthwestOpenSeason 7 месяцев назад
I agree. I still really like these gloves but I couldn’t even buy them for awhile and then when they came back, they had increased the price. I’ve tried a few other brands that are pretty decent, but none seem to be as rip resistant. I’m glad you found this video helpful though.
