Struggling a bit myself with the RU-vid Persona but we'll see how we get on - lovely to see you back! I wonder if I'll finish that sepia nonsense before the next 24HOCs, it would be nice to try something with some actual colour!

Totally understand not having the energy to be the happy stitcher (person) you think people expect. I love your videos and am happy to see them when you are in the right head space and feel up to it. This sounds like such a fun project!

This was awesome. I'm so glad y'all had a wonderful time. :D I miss stitching so much, but I've been expanding my wire and stone chip tree business which has been taking up all the time work hasn't. I did see some really cool patterns I want to try though, so hopefully I'll be able to get back to stitching some day soon. 😅

Hah, given how many people threw the rules out the window, maybe you should join us next time and just make your trees anyway. I know everyone would be excited to see them! Really glad it's going well though, eeh remember when you were just thinking about maybe giving it a go? Time flies!

Missed you! Feel better soon! I know exactly how you feel about the mind wanting to do things (especially my stinkin stitching!) and body just giving up on me... Welcome to my late 30s...*sigh*

Thank you ❤️ Just feels like we've had one thing after another since about September last year with no breathing space in between, so my capacity for coping with new things is diminished a bit! Still, birthday week next week, that'll sort it :D

I definitely didn't expect everyone to stick to the rules, in fact my own plan was to aim for more like 18 hours this time round! It just turned out to be so motivational being around everyone, I got the full 24 in faster than I've ever done before and managed a nice early night on the Sunday to recover 😎 "Sadly" though, I'll be on a cruise ship swanning around Spain with extremely limited internet when the next 24hocs happens. So anarchy might end up being the case indeed 😅 (p.s. JZ's Beescornu pattern is here if it takes your fancy ko-fi.com/s/5a44327370)

Glad you enjoyed! It definitely got a bit larger scale than I'd planned especially when you mentioned it to all your followers too but hey, everyone was lovely and the more the merrier. Slightly gutted I'll be on holiday for the July one, but only slightly since I will be drinking cocktails on a cruise ship so you know, not too terrible 😎 What's done is done and I'm not going to beat myself up about it tbh. What matters is, this video is finished and now my brain is unstuck and I can stop having nightmares about it. Ah the life of a totally mentally stable videomaker...

I've been checking for an update! Sorry to hear life has been rough lately. And HEY. I also have wisdom teeth trouble! I'll be getting all 4 pulled this summer at the ripe old age of 37, ugh. Your coverage of my progress from this weekend made me giggle.

@TheGiddyStitcher 4 часа назад
Oh no, that sucks! Wisdom teeth trouble twins is not a fun kind of twins to be. But we will both survive, and we'll both do a lot of stitching in a nest of blankets to make ourselves feel better. That's my plan, anyway!

JZsketch here, love how I come with a content warning now that's a first XD but it's fair for sure. I completely forgot to share the pattern names and stuff when I shared the photos so; blackwork is "Bat with Bell" by Urban Stitches, the full coverage is a discontinued UnconventionalXstitch pattern called "Memento Ophelia" and of course the biscornu is my own pattern "Queen Beescornu" which is on my kofi @jzsketch

Pic2pat has been my go to for a while :) so easy to just slap the pdf into pattern keeper, sometimes I will edit my pictures before putting then through the program, that has really helped get the colours right. I had to over expose my current project before sending it through P2P and it made a world of difference!

Picked up a black stitch pattern today cuz I"m away from home and very few supplies and didn't want to rebuy everything. $13 at JoAnn and I'm good. And then I got home and realized I have 0 clue what the heck I'm doing. What's new, huh? And of course I didn't pick a simple pattern - no I picked a full pattern of Pride and Prejudice pages - because that's completely on brand for me. I'm 60/139 stitches on the first line. It looks SO good. I may be a bit obsessed. Your video really helped me have confidence. Thank you.

Wow, thank you so much for this thorough video! I just joined Mastodon a few weeks ago, and I am so happy with it! I completely quit all other social media 3 weeks ago and wanted to have a little replacement. Mastodon has blown me away. It is not parasocial like social media platforms. It's more like networking (actually talking to people). Everyone has been so kind and genuine, and I have just adored meeting so many new people through it. These explanations on RU-vid have really helped me learn how to navigate it and i learned multiple new things in your video, so thanks so much!

I’m just starting out and I’m already overwhelmed with bobbins but I cannot display y floss and I don’t think I would choose to so even if I had the space. Still, I enjoyed watching you get excited about organizing. If I did use the floss drops, is there another way to store them besides just hanging them up?

I've been sewing and knitting for a long time now (10 and 15 years respectively) and I'm getting pulled into cross stitching. As far as bags are concerned, for cross stitch, I've kept the plastic zippered bag my daughter's curtains came in and I intend to use that for the smaller pieces. :) Edit: OMG YES!!!! Those clear zippered bags are AMAZING.

I got one for Christmas as well - I think it is a wise investment. Anyone who has ergonomic body pain, I think you can get into a better position with a stand. While it is expensive, it's cheaper than managing neck and shoulder pain - so it's priceless in that regard! The extender bar is a must-have. I got the magnet board holder/clamp but it's too close for my eye sight, so I give that a mixed review.

Maybe you could create a game with buttons (the kind you would sew on something) as either similar to a bubble popping game (buttons DO pop...mainly when I've had too much to eat around holidays and my girth gets too rotund for them to stay attached...kinda joking here, but then--sadly--kinda not) or as a match 3 game to match colors or button image shapes (Ladybug buttons, butterflies, traditional buttons, etc.). I really wouldn't say at all that your games are trash. I like to play games but I have no idea where to start with game dev, and I think you're doing an awesome job! I enjoy memory games, too, because it helps to keep sharp and remember details in other situations that may be important later, so they kind of act like mind training exercises. I love that you chose craft-related images for that because crafting is an interest, so it makes it more interesting too! I really like this! You do an amazing job, and I look forward to seemore! 😄

I just started cross-stitching. A hoop frame is a must for me. I tried holding the fabric by hand, and I found myself forgetting which part of the design I was working on because the fabric got shifted or folded. I'm still working on my first project. Slowly, but I'm enjoying the experience so far. 🥰

My latest must have is a coiled keychain: I use it as a scissors nanny. No more dropping my scissors. I used bobbins and hate them - makes the thread zigzaggy. My go to is a hole puncher and an old greeting card - I write the symbols&thread names on them - perfect! When I finish the project, I pitch the card - easy cleanup and whoever sent me the card knows I truly appreciated it.

I find thread conditioners attract dirt. They don't work for me but if you love it go for it! Now, bee's wax is great for the ends of the thread if you have trouble threading and you're not a thread licker. Thank you Giddy Stitcher. Just found your channel from your beginner's tutorial on blackwork embroidery, and I am absolutely loving your content! Really enjoyed this video as a multicrafter with a humanities degree and a technology curse who's married to an engineer with a 3d printer - I definitely agree with your view that maker vs crafter vs artist is a complex question of identity. It can seem pedantic and silly (it reminds me of the endless discussions of the difference between geek and nerd), but it's important when it comes to self perception and the resulting impact on self confidence. As with so many other things, I tend to advocate that people call themselves whatever feels right, and don't let other people's judgment stop you, but I do recognize that's easier said than done.
