Yea compared to a U87, the CV12 does sound more neutral. I still believe it has a colored sound though from my experience. A combination of mid forward and bright modern sound. I liked it when I used it for a hip hop song I worked on when I needed that crispy modern sound, but not as much when I used it for a more acoustic/ambient song. Thanks for watching!
Mic B seemed to have slightly more sibilance. I have the 2020, so I was really interested to hear how the Origin sounded against it. Thanks for the demo!
@@subtonic24 understandable, its a new compressor. But if you use LUFs and a reference track you can lock in the dynamics from the reference, while maintaining a transparent compression
@@subtonic24 what I meant to say all the technical stuff was way over my head. I could clearly understand your vocals. I was just trying to be silly but also seriously man that’s awesome and I’m proud of you. Keep it up man.🤘❤️🤘
Work bro!!!!! The grind doesn’t stop!! Would love to hear/see a video of your u87 throw each piece individually (where possible) and then altogether to see the cumulative effect
Thank you very much bro, I really appreciate you!!! I actually have that video in the works right now. It is almost finished and I can't wait to release it!
The blue stripe 1176 was known for being noisy so sounds like an accurate recreation to me! That said, I have not experienced a ton of noise with this and I've owned it for almost 2 years.
I had an Avantone at one time and was disappointed. It sounded very mid range compared to my top shelf mice and even some good sounding budget mics. It sucked on upright bass and I was expecting good deep tube warmth and punch.
I think that is a mistake everyone makes about tube mics. They assume tubes mean full, rich sound and that's not the case. 90% of the sound is the capsule, and this mic is tuned to be a mid forward sound with less lows and low mids. It uses a transparent tube as well so it's not really going to add much to the sound at quieter volumes. That's probably why you didn't like it.
Hello! I really need to decide on what should i get.. my voice is kinda like sam smith. Should i get this warm audio jr or the rode nt2a. I hope u reply
THIS!!! Is how mic shoot outs should be done! ❤️🥰. To the point! None of that yapping about blah blah blah! I love the A/B way of doing it with the reveal at the end. Really takes away the preconceived bias. For a mic nerd like me, this shoot out was perfect. Thank you 👏❤️
A comparison between Telefunken TF29 coperhead vs Avantone CV12 would be great! Awesome video btw!!! U87 projects those mids like waves so smoothly 👌 🔥 But avantone does NOT disappoint!
This mic is still surprising people. I was using a Rode NT1 Signature series and a fifine k669d for voice over samples, and they unanimously voted for the k669d. Blew me away.
This tube is adding absolutely nothing to the signal. This is a transparent tube and she is nowhere near loud enough to even start introducing harmonics.
Well the avantone and the TLM have different frequency response graphs, the CV-12 has a bit more low end (rolling the lows off at around 50hz and the TLM rolls off at about 70hz). The cv-12 also has boosting @ 50-80hz, 150hz-300hz, 550hz-750hz, 1.5khz-5khz, and 7khz-15khz. The TLM is a pretty flat response with just 1 big boost from 4khz-18khz pretty much. So although the TLM is a very clean airy sound, the CV-12 is more rich in the mid-range with a bit of that crisp high end. I’m a Neumann type of guy tho 😂 I’ve never owned a CV-12 but it looks like a pretty good mic.
I knew from the start the u87 was mic a, however at the end I don’t know which is which, but I think I heard more of the Avantone at the very end of her singing. The cv 12 will need to be gain staged a little lower in the mix and you would never know what mic it was recorded with. You’ll just love the sound. Just got me a used cv12 for 250
I kinda like A because mic B vocals were too bright but they are both good mics. I will be happy with both mics 😂 but unfortunately I all ready bought the origin before the vid
Is the wa 47 fet asignificantly different enough to upgrade from the wa47jr? I like having a mix that doesn’t need a separate power supply, don’t know if I should get the wa47 and keep the 47jr. Or just have a wa47 and wa47 fet
I don't think the 47fet is drastically different from the 47jr, and you lose out on the versatility of multiple polar patterns. I personally wouldn't look at it.
I got the wa47jr months ago and I loved it, voice feels way fuller. I had got extra money and bought a wa87 r2, but I felt like the brightness made me sound like a little kid. Should I just get the wa 47 tube, or would the wa 47 get better a significant upgrade from the wa47jr?
The WA47 will have some differences from the WA47jr due to the tube circuit and transformer, but the differences do not always mean it is an "upgrade". You'll have to listen for yourself and decide if you like the sound and if the differences justify the cost difference.
@@kayjay4952 I haven't noticed a drastic difference between transformer and transformerless mics. And the 47fet loses versatility due to not having multiple polar patterns. I personally don't find much value in it.
My experience after trying a bunch of mics is the MXL CR89 is the most full sounding mic I’ve encountered. I’ve also heard the Lauten LA 320 and the Shure KSM 32 are also good for filling out a vocal sound
Help..! I have Rode nt1a and shure sm58. My voice sounds a bit harsh on nt1a, so I started using sm58 instead. Now I want to upgrade to a condenser mic again. Will this Warm 47jr provide balanced voice or should I go for the high end models, like Warm u87 R2.
Both the 47jr and WA87 will be upgrades from the NT1A as they both have smoother and more rolled off top end so take you pick. Either one will be fine!
