@7:38 Pretty poor of you to be cutting down live trees when there is obviously plenty of downed firewood to be had. This should not be promoted and is a sign of someone who doesn't know what they are doing.
I think it’s more of a sign of your ignorance and inability to ask if that tree was live or dead. It was standing dead wood. The wood on the ground was wet from melting snow which had fallen the previous day. How would I have a fire burning green wood? Cutting standing DEAD wood is absolutely not against park rules in the backcountry. Thanks for your comment.
I'm guessing the fish that you had on was either a really nice (probably 40"+) pike or a small sturgeon. I've heard secondhand that Sturgeon and Russell have Lake Sturgeon in them. A decent sturgeon can spool you in a hurry. Sorry your rapala broke - I can feel the disappointment. I'll raise a mug for you when I'm up in the Q in a few short weeks!
Well we leave very soon for our first big tour. We’ll be on the water until the fall and winter when the editing will begin. Maybe I’ll be able to post a few short videos in between the long trip. Appreciate the support very much.
You mentioned that you had plan's to paddle the big Salmon river. Did you do that? I don't see it on your list. Is it the video titled "lost in the Yukon"?
It was so cool to see that old out post Fort Selkirk. Do you ever think about going back there to have a longer look about? I definitely would be interested is seeing that!! I was amazed at how well the buildings were maintained. Very interesting 👌 👍
Hello Keenan, I very much enjoyed the solar eclipse content you captured. Could you tell me about the insect net that you used under your tarp? What is the brand and where did you source it from?
I’m officially renaming this ‘The Adventure of Betty Lou’s ears’ 😂 They made so many appearances. Honestly though…what a beautiful video of what seems to be an incredible adventure. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Seriously thought I had clicked on a movie channel-I reckon I’m watching too many Lost In The Woods Movies-but I decided to watch the video and enjoyed it-nicely done.
Good day Keenan and Ashley. This is a video I really enjoy again. The Wolverine and the Moose would be spectacular to see in that environment. ❤ you, Terry
Completed the Obabika river this past weekend and it went very well. Now, like this coming weekend is the time to go back and do it again with the high water!! We had 8-9 spots where we were able to wedge the canoes around logs close to shore through small trees without exiting the canoes, or just power over the logs, with a couple spots that required stepping out onto a log, there was one spot a couple km's before the George Gordon bridge where we had to drag about 20m to get around a small log jam, but the terrain was easy to work with. There was still one massive log jam that hadn't been cleared but there were portage signs in place to get around it, it was an easy portage and very short. We put in on Obabika, paddled up it then took out at the George Gordon bridge as the stream into Wawiagama lk was very much a no go. It was a 12k'ish hike back to the vehicles. I can see that this river will likely quickly become a mess again as more trees fall into it.
@@CanoeTheNorth Based on what we saw in there I would think it is an early season high water only trip. I imagine it will be pretty nasty again sooner than later.
Hey Keenan, Hope you and Ashley are doing well . Last year you gave me the advice to not overthink my first canoe and just get something and start paddling and it was the right advice. I bought a 14 foot fibreglass solo boat and installed a yoke and it is 55lbs but I have had a great time in it in the last 1-2 years. I am now thinking about a major upgrade since I love tripping in it and for the most part it’s just me and my dog out for up to 2 weeks. I am looking at a 16 foot Langford Ranger Carbon that weighs under 40 lbs and was thinking this may work great as a solo boat or if someone wanted to join me. It is pretty wide so stable and I plan to only do flat water tripping in it. It’s 3 years old, in great shape and 1/2 of what it costs new. Is this too much boat to solo in which will be 80% of what I do? I am guessing it is symmetrical and I can just solo paddle from the bow seat like most people.
Nice to hear you’re enjoying paddling! Amazing. I don’t think that a 16 foot canoe is too big to solo personally. Bill mason paddled a 16 canoe solo….thats enough for me.
Great video. Great trip and great music as usual. Your videos totally engulf me from start to finish; so much so that watching you two cook and eat that fish, I found myself starting to raise my hand to have a piece of it. Not all was lost though because that hand was holding a fine cigar I was thoroughly enjoying throughout your awesome video. 😉
Ewsome videos canoeing in Yukon. Favor to ask can you assist me with quick chat as im planing a trip to yukon. I just retired so i have all time i need. Just want to figure how and where. Thanks
@@CanoeTheNorth thanks its ewsome you got back to me but my questions i have the outfitter wont have answer but i will check. Anyway all good i can figure it out i have the skills just trying to save some reasearch.
@stevedupe2954 straight up the 400 to 17, straight to Winnipeg. Then put fort Nelson in the gps and head up the Alaska highway to Whitehorse. As far as camping for free there are way too many options to list. Even the municipal campgrounds out west are very cheap and clean.
You picked the perfect place & time to propose ❤ it was beautiful and it touched my heart ❤️ cherish every moment bcuz life goes so fast. I was lucky enough to find my best friend and husband and we enjoyed 46 years together until his passing in 2021. I'm so happy you found your perfect person for you 💗
Amazing adventure, editing, and cinematography. The only way you could top this is to add some notations of the route you travelled. Your put-in, perhaps a couple lakes in between here and there. Maybe a note where the rapids are that you portaged around..you know, less important stuff. ;)
Wow 👌 those pictures you captured of the northern lights was just magical. I think you Canadians have the most beautiful night sky between the thousands of stars sparkling to the northern lights dancing...it's like heaven on earth. Your so lucky to witness all that beauty in person. Thank you so much for sharing that with us! ❤😊
Great images and what a beautiful eclipse. My mom is in Buffalo, NY and they had a much thicker cloud cover. Thanks for sharing and I’ll share on my social media. Cheers
Awesome videography Keenan. You have firmly established yourself as one of preeminent videographers for this genre. Thanks for your attention to detail. On a side note, tell me about your bug net shelter lol. I’ve been looking for one that size but haven’t had any luck
Dear Ashley and Keenan, I am in awe of the scenery along the Yukon River! Thank you for sharing your unique experiences with us, and please keep on paddling! Sending hugs to both of you and your dogs 🤗
Absolutely exquisite! This is the second of your videos that I have viewed and enjoyed. Immersed in peace and natural beauty, they have been just this, a welcome respite for myself and several friends I have shared them with. Thank you to you both and thank you as well for including the literary references from this video. With much gratitude, Richard, St. Maries, ID
