I tried to solve but stuck in between not able to solve without your help. I just started CAT prep this puzzle seems tough to me. But i will practice more such puzzles. Thank you sir.
It’s slightly beyond the level of the CAT to be honest given the number of parameters. You just need to be ready to make multiple cases and eliminate them. But I’m glad you tried it and hope that you will get better over the next few days.
Hello sir, thank you so much for putting in so much efforts. I am a working professional and i barely get time to study properly. I am too scared to start with QA again, last year my CAT didnt go well even tho i had taken coaching. This time i am nervous and also tired by the time i come home. Please suggest how can i use my time effectively and what material should i use.
Hi, you might have to think in terms of 15-30 minute windows instead of a chunk of 4-5 hours every day. Also, there’s no point being scared of QA especially if you are looking at CAT 23 as a benchmark. That was an aberration and if you look at the years preceding that, you will see that CAT had pretty manageable quant. In fact, if you are a well prepared candidate you should favour a difficult section over an easier one purely because you will have to attempt fewer questions to stay in contention. So start with the absolute basics from your institute material from last year and work you way up gradually. If you are tired by the time you reach home, try making solving quant the first activity of the day instead of the last thing you do. You can wake up early and get it out of the way in the morning itself. The last activity planned is the easiest to sacrifice so won’t suggest keeping the section you need to spend most of your time for the end of the day. All the best!
@@Point99_CAT_MBA thank you so much sir, means a lot, tomorrow is Sunday I am planning to take a freemock and complete 1 chapter of qa atleast. Thanks a lot for making these daily drills, it's really helping alot. Regards, Aastha
Hello sir, some coaching starts preparing the aspirants for GDPIs from this point of time by doing various rounds for GD and PI based on their certain mock percentiles, I missed the chance by 4-5 marks. (criteria was 60%ile)I think I will be missing out on a big opportunity. Is it really necessary to start preparing for the GDPI stage from this point. What are your insights?
I wouldn’t recommend starting right away with the GDPI prep. You just need to introspect a bit, think about possible answers to common questions and keep an eye on the major happenings around you. You can fine-tune your answers after CAT and appear for mock interviews then. There’s plenty of time after the tests to do these so no need to worry right now.
@@Point99_CAT_MBA Thank you so much sir 😊 So according to you, my only focus should be improving my mock percentiles right? And I need to mention this, I follow your daily drill program and the test I saw on dilr was apparent to the CAT level. It really helps a lot. thank you
If you don’t have a certificate from your institute or haven’t registered your business then you won’t be able to claim workex. You can talk about it in the interview though.

Thanks a lot for the insight sir. following you here since day 1. my question was i have an engineering background so from this point, should i just clear my concept from a standard book and doing the questions sets there followed by previous year questions and mocks. please suggest if i am missing something here. ( following your videos for the extensive preparation as i havent join any coaching).
Hi Nilesh, Mock taking and your past profile would give you a clue about how much effort needs to be put. If you are consistently scoring above the 90th percentile in mocks and/or have a 8/8/7 profile or better, you can continue with concept building and mocks. If either of these are missing then you might need more intervention in terms of joining a program.
You can check out Brainbashers for some puzzles and teasers. The great book of puzzles by George Summers also has a lot of arrangement based puzzles. You can also check Cracking the Cryptic channel for tough and offbeat Sudoku variants.
sir can a post graduate from a different course example an MD gen med doctor apply for an online MBA degree while he/she is persuing their pg or while in the course of post graduation
If it’s a part time MBA program then yes you can pursue them simultaneously. The only criterion for getting into an MBA program is to have a graduation degree. Having said that though, the perceived value of a part time/online MBA isn’t as high as a full time MBA so you need to have your priorities in place before you decide to do it.
Sometimes there can be offbeat cubes based questions in the DILR section of the CAT. Last I remember there was something interesting in 2015. But the logic is pretty important for all the other tests as well and you will most certainly see at least one set across all the exams you would be appearing for.

10th - 93 percent, 12th- 89 percent and B.tech- 8.14....I am working in a product company as a technical Consultant from July 2022 and I have completed my BTech from NIT Bhopal in 2022 in mechanical engineering. What should be the minimum percentile I should target to get into ABCLIK
Hi Shruti, There’s no guaranteed minimum percentile that exists. But with your academic profile and calibre, I would target at least a 99 percentile to be somewhat safe.
@@Point99_CAT_MBA sure sir, I am also looking for the same but as my marks in mocks were not up to the mark that is why I asked regarding the minimum percentile which I should tentatively get to get calls from LIK atleast
Also sir, during my last mock I scored 14 in VARC, 7 in LRDI and -1 in quant. Quant which I thought is my strongest subject, I am unable to score good marks in it. Please let me know what I should do in this regard. My confidence is going down day by day. First of all not being able to score good marks in VARC and now getting negative marks in quant makes me think that maybe I won't be able to get into any IIM even after preparing from Jan as I am a general female engineer candidate
Unless the test was extremely difficult, you should have been able to spot 5 doable questions and solve them in 40 mins. Keep your goal a bit lower to start with and target the easiest few questions only. Get into the 40s consistently with scores of more than 10 in each section and take it from there instead of putting unnecessary pressure on yourself to get that 99 percentile. Your profile is far better than your mock score so I see a lot of scope to improve even by doing the little things right. Just wanted to know how have your mock performances been otherwise.
@@Point99_CAT_MBA other than this if the mocks are easy I get around 53 to 56 ( percentile comes around 78-82) marks in total. But if the mocks are tough then my marks have dropped down till 20-24 ( percentile come around 44) also. That is why I'm very confused if I'm performing up to the mark or not. I'm taking SIMCAT
Again, be super defensive to start with and attempt only those questions you are absolutely certain of. It’s okay to solve one RC and a couple of VA questions in 40 minutes till you develop confidence in your abilities. Post that the journey should be easy. 3 consecutive mocks with 15 marks in VARC should give you that confidence.
Hi sir, I joined IMS Hyderabad in Jan. I have been practicing VARC since Jan but still I only am able to score 14-16 marks in my mocks. Can you please guide me on how to improve attempting RC and how to work towards attempting atleast 2 RCs along with all the VR questions
Hello sir, I have a question. In CAT 23, because of technical glitch in VARC section, I had a discontinued attempt which made me panic and lose my focus resulting in not clearing my VARC cutoff and less percentile of 93. How can I work on such extreme cases too? Like come kind of calmness training? PS: - Obviously I know some is luck but still don't want to get anxious in these situations, if they arrive. P.P.S: I am GEM with profile 9/8/8, 2+ workex and have got 99+ in CAT 22, so fairly confident I can achieve higher percentile again and I am working hard for it too.
The best way to handle this is to visualise all possible things that can go wrong and prepare your reactions accordingly. You have to tell yourself that you don’t need 40 minutes to solve a section at your level and that you can easily afford to lose even 5-10 minutes during the test. If you don’t trust yourself to do this, try simulating it in a mock. Start the section only after 10 minutes have passed and see how big a difference it makes to your score. I’m sure it shouldn’t change by much. Even for other scenarios, try to simulate them in mocks and build your reactions to all possible kinds of adversity. Once you are convinced that these things don’t matter a lot, your reaction should become a lot less intense. I’ll also try to make a detailed video on this at some point in time as I am sure a lot many people would be facing this. Thanks for the insight 👍🏽
Reading Hindu is recommended only to understand writing styles and the flow of the arguments. Solving questions is a different game altogether and that has got little to with the amount of Hindu you are reading. You need to solve, understand and discuss the RC questions to get better at the section. You can check out this session where I have discussed some pointers on how to improve VARC scores: ru-vid.comoyRemOvDOBo?si=ScNMuKxIjeQWO3MQ
Sir i keep on forgetting quants subject after 3/4 days i have made a formula book and devise it in 2/3 days And practice 2 q per q per day Can u suggest anything to improve the retention inquants as syllabus is also vast
Repetition is the key. So what you are doing is fine in principle. You just need to keep doing it for another couple of months and you should see some improvement. Also, just mugging up formulas and theorems might be difficult for you so if possible, understand the underlying logic (as if you are going to teach it to someone). That should help build better retention.
It was a level playing field back then as well. Plus the craze of going for an MBA had just started. So the margins weren’t as thin as they are now. These days there’s the opposite problem of having too much content, which might also be distracting and completely conflicting at times. Have to be careful about that as well!
sir in the second question even if all x y z = 25 were to be positive i did not know the formula, could please share it in the comment section or in the next live session? thank you sir
Hi, we will be looking at the formula when we do the Modern Math drill. It’s basically (n+r-1)C(r-1) ways if you have to distribute n similar objects among r distinct groups.
Sir in english please as we don't understand. More than 4 of my friends see this but they don't get the language. I requested you in previous video also. Sir so please consider my request.
Nope. That’s not it. Think about it like this: if there were only 1 step, how many possible ways would have been there? If there were only 2 steps, how many possible ways would have been there? If there were 3 steps how many possible ways would have been there? If there were 4 steps how many possible ways would have been there? You will see a nice series getting formed.
Hi Abhigyan, the Daily Drills are going to be on throughout the season. Also, I am planning to conduct some workshops from August for CAT 24. Will make an announcement sometime next month.
Hi, thanks for the feedback. Will surely try to conduct the sessions in such a manner that everybody can benefit from it. Meanwhile, if there is something that’s not clear because I used Hindi, do let me know and I’ll explain it.
Haan food court mentioned hai passage mein. But paragraph mein author sirf smells ki baat nahi kar raha. He has also mentioned fountains splashing and skylights. He’s trying to make you relive the mall experience through all your senses. Option D is literal whereas option A talks about memories.
Hi Jignesh, if you agreed with the logic for most of the questions I discussed, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to come up with it. You just have to read carefully and not mark anything if you are not absolutely sure. I’ll make a detailed video on how to avoid mistakes in RCs so that should help you.
Theoretically, yes. Although you will need a solid CAT score (preferably above 99 percentile) and convincing answers during interviews. Although the shortlisting criteria for most of the top bschools is not out yet for this season, there should be enough opportunities for you. Also, would recommend you to take the XAT, NMAT, SNAP at least to improve your chances at the affiliated colleges (these are considerably better than many of the latest IIMs so worth applying to).
Your explanation skill is great sir. Sir, I am struggling in the VARC section my QA and LRDI are good but I cannot perform well in VARC. I like reading books from college, but still cannot get good scores in VARC. Please make a video on accuracy in RC, or suggest me something that can help me. My VA is also good and read articles daily. I got only 70 percentile in VARC in CAT 2023.
