I didn't have a car when they reopened Union Station. It seemed great that there would be more access to Boston. It never occurred to me that it would devastate the city by causing so many Boston people and Biotech people to move here and "price out" everyone that really lived here. It's not just that rents and home prices have tripled, there simply isn't room, and contractors are taking advantage every way they can.

I've had noncompetes at several jobs. They don't try to make it apply to their direct competitors, they try to make it extremely broad. They're hiring me because I have a set of skills, but they don't want me to be able to use those skills after I leave. I'm an iPhone developer, was hired by a company because I had 10 years of experience, but wanted me to sign a noncompete that would have prevented me from doing any iPhone development for the next two years! I agree with the comments here, that if it's IP they're worried about, that's what NDAs are for. I support the ban on noncompete agreements...

I talked to a dear friend of mine from New Hampshire and he, like a lot of others, said it would back fire. Thankfully it did. COME ON BEACON HILL! You got enough money. USE IT and use it for what it is intended for. If you do that, then you wouldn't need to have billions of dollars in new taxes. That is the difference. Enough. Exactly. It's not a men vs women thing. It's a revenue vs no revenue thing. The men's league makes money. The women's league does not. It's a business. New men's football leagues routinely are started. But they never stay in business. Do the players cry, "it's not fair!"? Im italian and I come to USA alot for holidays. Every time I see an heartbreaking story like this one, they really never tell why this people became homeless. I dont wana judge anyone because it can happend but I wana say two basic things: 1) There are some people who are not financially educated, therefore they dont plans their life with savings, 401k, investment, cost cutting etc, so when something happend, they dont even have 10k to survive for few months. 2) If you have 2k a month and you cannot effort a 3,5k house in your area, there are at least 2 things to do: move to a very cheap place ( middle of Alabama or Mississipi, with all my respect to people living there ) where your 2k are enough or, rent a room in a house or a cabin in a camping. Better a decent room then a nice Volvo Suv to sleep inside. Im happy this woman found a good place but, maybe because in Italy we grew with huge margin of safety, its very hard to go that way.
