Also some of the drift you observe in a few patterns may be a result of inconsistencies in the clock of the MPC (Bpm isn’t consistent on the machine Dilla used) and the fact that the MIDI was sequential at the time (two notes couldn’t really play at the same time, but instead one after another, very close but not at the same time).
Actually you should read the book. You’d learn that for starters he used an MPC that just couldn’t render unquantized programming because of its PPQN definition.
This looks like a great addition for me so to cover up some sound design omissions in ny Model:cycles. Plus i always love having a keyboard instead of making the sequencer buttons do double duty. Gonna be a must buy for me i think
This is the real talk box effect without the tube! I don't have a piano keyboard currently, but could this be used with just editing MIDI directly on a DAW along with the mic?
Yessir it can! Maybe not always as efficient but MIDI is MIDI. Sometimes I’ve recorded the MIDI first to only focus on the mic or vice versa, not being a super trained musician myself lol.
@@BlezzBeats Ok I see. I've bought it and been tinkering with it. I'll probably go ahead and get a MIDI keyboard. Very nice product! Got an absolute banger on the way that needs talkbox. 10/10!
this has got me bugging out. I have ussed my tracker to MIDI and USB MIDI boss the M+ around but is it, could it be, maybe??? possible to send audio over USB to the M+ from the OG Tracker? i've tried and failed but I am just now learning the Maschina ways. I imagine the Tracker + and the M+ would get down.
Het Blezz, just got a M+ and been lurking your vids for a minute now- just wanted to say thanks for all the info, much appreciated. Is there a way to automate the pitch of a sample in the manner you were knobbing it at the end of this video?
Yo! Im having difficulty with it not working for me. I noticed when I rout the Midi signal to the audio track underneath it doesn’t say “1-vocodine” and idea what needs to be done to fix that problem?
The audio track doesn’t actually need to say Vocodine, it will be called whatever you named the track (by default just ”audio”), after you select it the midi input of the plugin itself will say Vocodine. Hope that clears it up!
@@BlezzBeats i shot you an email, the midi is rounded to the audio as the out so I don’t think that’s it. I added a photo. If you could check that out that would be a big help, it’s not urgent tho
Donuts was sketched on an SP303 while Dilla was at the hospital and later it was arranged together on Pro Tools. It's not a myth, just an often badly described fact about Dilla's late years.
Ah, this reminds me of the days of a windows 95 machine running Akai MESA software to an S2000 with EB such and so board, via a SCSI card, with firmware such and so. Still clunky but better than programming a sampler through a Roland compatible 2 x 16 display. Beat slams nicely.....not an afterthought.
Terrific how it is emulating the very expensive DigiTech Talker that Daft Punk is famous for. And being software based it is far more practical to use.
