When building a custom car audio subwoofer box, amplifier rack, or speaker adapters there are many time savings techniques we can use. Although each technique may save just a few seconds, multiplied by a few thousand times throughout a build, these "build hacks" can result in significant time savings. Here's 10 that I love to use often in custom car audio!

As a cabinet maker, I knew all of these hacks. The washer trick is a great tip for fitting inside odd shapes too. Gets you closer to the shape while still leaving enough material to fine tune it.

Another Quick-Step that I like to use, when you were making the cardboard compass to draw the circle, anytime I'm using a measurement that contains fractions (everybody hates dealing with fractions) like a hole that's 9-11/16", I just draw out 9-11/16" on the cardboard, add an inch, then I fold it in half to find the center. That extra inch just gives me a spot to push my pencil tip through.

I recently made some foam speaker rings out of a piece of those interlocking foam garage mats. Lol. Took some measurements and cut them out on a laser. Needed something between the door panel and door. Was the perfect thickness.

Very interesting! If you do part 2, please include your favourite hack to transfer factory hole pattern to a mounting plate. For use in a case you want your amp rack mounted to the car using factory holes in the car body.

I guess it’s not just car audio specific. But I like to use house wire to fish wire behind stuff in the car and around stuff without having to remove panels

What if you for example put a 15" subwoofer in the car to get deep bass, and at the same time a 10" subwoofer in the same car to get tight bass. Could you combine the two subwoofers to get a more complete bass sound?

Do rear speakers in a MDF table for a hatchback car need to be in a closed inclosure? or the back of the speaker where the magnet is can be open?
@CarAudioFabrication
@CarAudioFabrication Год назад
Whats most important is that the rear wave is isolated from the front. Many car audio speakers are designed for an "infinite baffle" application, so in a car a really large air space essentially with a baffle separating the front and rear. For simplicity sake though a sealed enclosure can be made, but not required
@romano5785
@romano5785 Год назад
@@CarAudioFabrication How do I isolate the rear wave from the front in a hatchback car?
@luchvk
@luchvk Год назад
Make sure that, behind the speaker, anywhere that air can get through is sealed. You can use either permanent sealants or effective (probably custom) gaskets. Also, you may need to make extra walls for the speaker(s). It would end up being something like a mini trunk. Note: Keep in mind the importance of the car's pressure-relief vents.
@loudelvis610
@loudelvis610 Год назад
@@romano5785 it depends where speakers are mounted....on old hatch back some had a package tray that opened with rear hatch...it also would separate the front and rear of speaker mounted on ....just make sure rear of cone is sealed from front...they make foam baffles that can enclose rear of speakers.....the better the seal the better the sound
@romano5785
