Sir, RU-vidr wants to box you? Is this possible? I watch alot of martial arts content on RU-vid, yours being one of the many Champion platform. Mr. RU-vidr believes he has what it takes to get in the ring with you. We would love to see! You know which RU-vidr I'm speaking of?
You're amazing Tony Jeffries I got a question. Why you throw the hook to the body just with your left hand? If you use right hand you would lose balance right?
2 qestions. I have very long arm's and I'm tall how do I practice for stronger punches and faster dodging. My second problem I have is stamina I'm really good at bursting but I'm spent out really easily.
Actually is right... i do boxing classes. I'm not a pro, and i dont fight just practice, and our coach tell us the same. Its not about not doing it because you dont fight its about doing it right and learn the technic properly.
@@Tony_Jeffries I point my fitness boxing class to your videos frequently. It's how we teach in our gym, so it re-enforces what we're saying. When you do a video on counter-punching, I hope you are able to cover all the variations and when/why to chose a variation... like, catch a jab with the right hand while stepping left and forward, putting your jab through the back of their head, or knock a jab slightly down with your left and hit the overhand right, or slipping a straight right while landing your straight cross to the body at the same time. So many counters, but it's hard for new people to know how to decide which to use and when.
Hung mine up about 2 weeks ago, i gotta say, it's pretty fun to hit the bag and exciting to see the gradual progress in my form and technique, keep going bro 💯
yay! how are you guys doing with the bag, still getting on it? I live in an apartment and I don't think I'm allowed to hang one, but I'd love one. The tree in the yard is taking a beating though :p
Just starting out, total newbie. This is a great channel thank you Tony. Middle aged dad here, never thrown a punch in my life in a gym or otherwise, first five minutes on a heavy bag and I have never sweated so much in my life. I’m definitely going back. 😁
As a Boxer, IF YOU ARE NEW to boxing, THIS IS THE CHANNEL TO WATCH! Seriously, take notes. Every single video he does is pure gold. IF you are training alone, I HIGHLY SUGGEST taking some video of yourself as you train. You'll look at the footage later and see your mistakes if you reference Tony's vids. And YES, I do this, and YES it helps. Cheers to all!
I used to fight in Taekwondo competitions. When I was younger I thought I knew everything. In the gym in China I had taught at, I already had some basic boxing skills. But after coming back to Australia and watching your videos, I could see how narrow my views were. Thank you for all of these educational boxing videos. My boxing has improved a lot, but I still have a long way to go. Once again, thank you very much, sir.
Im on my weightloss and self improvement journey for about 4 months now, recently got a heavy bag.. man 10 minutes on that has me working up a sweat like 1 hour in the gym!
You seem to have no option as of the moment.. I think right you should focus on training at home.. Do you got boxing equipment? like heavy bag? going to the gym, talking t oother boxers and sparring is another thing mate..
@@Tony_Jeffries I have the same situation. I practice at home with heavy bag and shadow boxing for general fitness purpose only. But always try to practice the moves and punches sincerely with good form, and your videos helps me to correct many mistakes. Thanks for the videos🙏🏼😊
Today my coach caught me as I was finishing up for the day and told me to go an extra 10 rounds on the Heavybag 😅. I’m glad I just watched this video about 2-3 days ago because I worked a bunch of stuff from this lesson. Thanks again 🤙
look mate, i don't think your tough.. BOXING DOES NOT GIVE YOU MUSCLES 😂😂 Im a weightlifter and trust me im bigger and stronger than you.. Most people are terrified of my muscles... I would laugh in your face
Hey Tony, have you made videos about which kuckles should one use when landing punches? Two knuckles punches ( index and midlle) or three knuckles punches ( middle, ring and pinky). What do you preffer or what do you recommend?
I’m guessing you’re not hitting the heavybag right now watching this video me in the garage on the heavy bag watching this video on my phone sitting beside me ahahah
Cool videos Tony, I've started to rely on these videos in lieu of the gym over the last year, my first fight is July 31st and I've turned my gladden into my own boxing gym... there's bags and kit everywhere! Good work.
@@Tony_Jeffries I’m not sure if they are if I’m honest , I’m quite lucky to be able to have my own just a 10 second walk outside my house hence why I’ve decided to get to losing weight and started training myself to box in the last 5 months , I’ve managed to lose a good bit of weight I was 26 stone at the start now I’m 15 stone 4 pounds
Love these videos Tony! We only have a Jiu Jitsu club in my town but we put on boxing gloves and spar often after class for extra fun and these videos are helping me greatly, much appreciated sir!
Just recently been getting super into martial arts and the art of fighting. I love your videos. Very simple to the point and educational. Thank you for your knowledge time and pride into this sport
Thank you for the instruction. I don't know if you can call mine a heavy bag as it has a base filled with around 200-300 lbs (91-136kg) but I got it for fitness, not boxing.. starting to absolutely love the sport though 😅
Tony, you are an absolute beast of a boxer... and best coach I've seen on RU-vid... hands down! I've gotten tons of excellent tips from your videos and I'm practicing them daily! Thanks buddy!!
I’d strongly promote doing a martial art/boxing or actually have experience with sparring, or actually getting into the ring so you’re bag skills will improve. A good example is how I have some Muay Thai for 8 years but can still spar western boxing techniques, and a boxer with say 4 years of experience. Getting into the sparring really helps and I promise the best advice in this video is dropping down stairs, get low and out the way but always keep your head down, and eyes on target. Jab, cross, hook, drop down. Repeat, then throw in a left hand uppercut, follow with whatever you like… look up the boxing 20, don’t have to use the Muay Thai stuff and just use the boxing ish. Great exercise. Or just shadow box and I recommend using full power in these. It really helps the people who just practice to practice. I promise you a good hook will treat you as well. Or a good cross. Don’t rely on that fight that’s gonna put them into the corner rely on the fight you’re fighting while you have to opportunity to knock them out with a uppercut, hook, or a nice cross.
I've been watching your videos and I went to the UFC gym yesterday with the confidence knowing the bag won't control me by doing a quick stiff arm lol 😆. It was my first time ever on a punching bag. I didn't go for the long punching bag but that short swing punching bag and I practiced some combos I saw you do.
The gym I'm going to has a nice UFC heavy bag... on a 12 foot chain to the ceiling surrounded by heavy aluminum ducts within chain sway distance that rattle when you get going. It is a distracting and frustrating experience but hitting that bag is so much safer than hitting my own POS Everlast heavy bag which I WILL repack... someday. I can feeeeel the sand bags lumping on the sides. I'm trying to find a steady striking pace to manage the ridiculous amount of bag travel distance at the gym. Plus it's near a wall so I can not really move around it. Is this bag doomed? I could give it a better home if the gym gets rid of it :P. Have you met other heavy bags on massively long chains?
Quick question: even if you are training to a heavy bag you should always defend with other hand? I saw you throw 3,4 punches without defending yourself with the other hand...
I'm just getting in to boxing and I have the equipment to start off with the basics but should I have somebody teach me in person or should I just kind of learn from RU-vid and then like test myself by sparring people
When it comes to my favorite one punch it has the be stepping right straights but today I think I figured out hard body shots, I feel the lower your elbow goes the more torque you have.
It always makes me laugh seeing tutorials. It's kind of like comparing call of duty to desert storm. But yeah move your head keep that elbow up. Getting the true ebb and flow takes a lot of pain and dedication it can't be done by watching a video. Hitting something without hands is cool for ego. But you need to know what it's like to get hit before you know what kind of fighter you are
Thanks coach I got a fight coming up next month and this is helping me I been fighting for 6 years and I took a year off cause of COVID and I gotten rusty
