46, and I still love this golden oldie. Brings back, so many happy memories sat with mate's laughing our heads off, and boy, we all loved the shower scene 😅
One of my favorite comedy movies. Just one of the funny parts. When Richard Pryors blind character is driving an talking to Gene Wilders character, Gene gets mad/scared an says "keep your eyes on the road!" Then Pryor "if that will make you feel better"
Being 42 years old, I have the great pleasure of remembering this film in all its uncut glory thanks to my parents having Cable TV by the time this made the rounds on HBO! 4 words.... JOAN SEVERANCE SHOWER SCENE! Need I say more?😂❤
@@DanielGarcia-us7tf Have you ever seen, Wiseguy? TV show in the late eighties, she starred opposite Kevin Spacey. She was great in her acting and breathtaking.
The 80's were a different time. Two 9 year old buddies buy two tickets to this movie after being dropped off at the mall with no questions asked. We sat in the front row with our candy and laughed hilariously. Good memories.
:) Awesome movie! One of my favorites. I had a Huge crush on Joan Severance! The shower scene (Thank you)! If you didn't know she was in a Scorpions music video "Rhythm of love" ROCKS! ! Such a beauty.
Thank God my parents had Cable TV by the time HBO started airing this great film! Yup, 10 year old me got to see a nude Joan Severance... mammaries, I mean memories!😅
These two were one the best comedy Duos that were not enough movies together even though they we're in quite a few it still wasn't enough. They had great chemistry and comedic timing
The best thing about 80's movies is that they left no stone unturned. They touched on almost every topic. I remember this movie like it was yesterday. Still laugh at it.
I do too. Heard they were originally considered for Trading Places but those parts went to Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy. I did think Silver Streak and Stir Crazy were better than this though.
@@williampotter3369 It would probably be woke in every aspect. The characters would be homosexuals, of course, and the entire scene would be removed of Richard Pryor saying, "I'm black?" And on and on down the woke propaganda list it would go until their full brainwashing efforts were realized.
I was 17 and working in a theater at the time this film came out...I got to see every major film for four years here. I've loved this duo, Gene seemed to be a guy you would love as a friend.
One of the best double acts of all time. And it's amazing this double act worked so well given Pryor and Wilder were not an actual organic double act in the guise of Laurel & Hardy, Abbot & Costello or Morecambe & Wise.
It’s a fantastic movie. Very smart comedy and doesn’t reflect poorly on people with disabilities. I’m happy that this movie was made with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor in the lead roles. Wouldn’t have worked with any other actors.
"See No Evil Hear No Evil," "Silver Streak," and "Stir Crazy" are 3 of my favorite comedy films from my childhood and oddly enough, they are all Wilder/Pryor comedies.
Another movie my dad & I watched in the 80’s through tears of laughter! That Wilder initially turned down the movie several times for not wanting to disrespect the deaf community makes me love him even more.
Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor are one of my favorite comedy teams and anything that they're in is just gold! This movie is by no means an exception! Rest in peace, fellas. Thanks for the cinematic memories. 😎👍
I was 16 in 89 and i rented this movie every single weekend for MONTHS it was just so funny thank you Gene and Richard for all the laughter you brought to the whole world we will love you forever ❤
I rented this movie from Blockbuster when I was a kid and never returned it. Needless to say, my mom got a bill for like $200 for the movie, lol. Totally worth it!
Also Minty what's make Wilders and Pryors relationship so special is that after they finish a project together they don't hang out as you think they would. Gene Wilder once said that could have an affect on there performances. So they wouldn't talk or see each other for years at a time until they would reunite to make a movie together! 🤗🕵🎬🎥
I love this movie! Not as much as Stir Crazy(one of the funniest comedies in cinema to me) but I was a kid in the 70's and this just brought so much joy.
These two were bromance comedy gold. Together these two men could put any duo to shame. This movie had to be so funny to film and act out. They both played the parts perfectly and so straight. It blows me away watching some of the scenes playing off their “disabilities” and staying character. Comedy GOLD Legends !! Thanks for featuring this classic
I watched this in the cinema and loved it. I think that the 80s were just choc a block with so many comedies that the critics were unduly harsh, as well as the audiences. I remember seeing films like All Of Me with Steve Martin, Mickey and Maude with Dudley Moore to massive comedy blockbusters like Ghostbusters and Beverly Hills Cop....but there a snobbery about comedy pre Pet Detective/Scary Movie which kinda signalled the end of that era of comedy. Films like A Fine Mess (Blake Edwards romp starring Ted Danson and my Canadian cousin's classmate Howie Mandell who apparently used to get stoned under a bridge with her and talk to an orange) to The Three Amigos were scalped by all, the latter becoming a cult classic to many today. Thanks for remembering these two and putting it out there, it is always a positive thing to remember these two...Richard was a diamond guy, I strongly suggest watching the HBO original film Jojo Dancer Your Life Is Calling, a moderately accurate tale of his early life and career, very funny and memorable...
You can Wilder and Pryor really enjoyed working together. When they’re on screen it just feels genuine, like they aren’t acting but they’re actually having a great time! Damn they are really missed!
Loved their movies since seeing and loving Silver Streak as a kid. Silver Streak was one of the first movies I can remember seeing multiple times on the new Home Box Office in our home, back when HBO was an actual box on the tv with 2 buttons. One switched HBO on, the other returned the tv to the regular cable box. Anyway, thanks for doing this. Now you need to do Silver Streak & Stir Crazy please!
I'm turning 44 on July 30th and I e always LOVED this movie! It had me laughing to the point of crying multiple times the 1st time I watched it and many times since. My stomach and cheeks would be sore the next day after watching this movie from laughing so hard and smiling so much. Lol. 2 absolute comedy legends in their ultimate buddy movie
I'm. 60 YEARS OF AGE AND I ALWAYS LIKED. RICHARD PRYOR. IN. MOVIES AND ON STAGE RIP DEAR RICHARD. U SHOULD. NEVER EVER. SET. YOUR SELF ON FIRE. Y. RICHARD UR MISSED. BY. PEOPLE WHO LOVED U BYE MY DEAR. RICHARD 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫
Thanks for making this video. See No Evil made me laugh so much as a kid when I needed the laughter the most. My parents would fight with each other in their marriage for years and years. Movies like this made me forget it all for that short time and gave me a lot of joy. This move means a lot to me, and I appreciate you making this 10 Things video.
I loved Richard Pryor ever since I was a kid he always brought a smile to my face same as Gene Wilder one of my favourite comedy duos loved all their movies wish they got to do more and even produce movies together both legends in their own way glad we got to see them I'm talking to you you prick! Lol
I love See No Evil Hear No Evil and Stir Crazy! Gene Wilder and Richard Prior are two Commedic Legends that are truly missed! My they both R.I.P Thanks for the laughs!!!!
love this movie, funny concept and two of the all-time greats who had great on-screen chemistry together...and always nice to see the lovely Joan Severance too.
That was a GREAT movie. Highly underrated. And it really spoke volumes that they think Pryor should be the same as "70's Pryor"... and that's a shame. A great deal of Pryor's best work happened after "Live on the Sunset Strip" ... Usually critically acclaimed movies are crap. :)
I watched this first when it premiered on Showtime when I was 11 yrs old in 1990. Loved it ever since. But my first Richard Pryor film was The Toy which if you haven't addressed on your channel, I would be very interested if you did because you could probably find a lot of interesting facts about. Especially what happened to the little boy from that film. Sheesh! 😮
OMG MINTY!!!! I am preparing a nice big cuppa for this one! CANT WAIT!!!!....... Have you considered a live viewing sessions you do? Or am I missing out already?!!!! Love all your vids and the efforts and passion you put into them all ..... Pressing play..... NOW!.... (One of my most funniest movies as a kid born in 1980
Great job on this one Minty. I LOVE this movie, although Stir Crazy is my favorite with Wilder and Pryor. Just a few things I'd like to say. First, it was many years after first seeing this film that I felt like I should rewatch it, and upon that second viewing I was like, "Holy crap, is that Kevin Spacey? I didn't remember him being in this." So, I appreciate you mentioning that a young Kevin Spacey was in it. I think most people didn't realize that because he was so young and not famous yet. Also, for your number 5 you said Gene Wilder still had some preservations. I think you might have meant reservations. But regardless, thank you for sharing his concerns over the way those with disabilities would be portrayed. I never knew that until now. Thanks again Minty. This was a great movie.
Both legends are gone but they re never forgotten rest in peace Gene Wilder and Richard prior both of you gave amazing films gave we will remember you for them🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️
This is A Great Movie and my favorite film with these two great actors!! Wilder and Pryor will be Missed!! They had great Chemistry together. Good job Mr. Minty!!
Richard and Gene are 2 souls we were lucky to share time with in this life. They gave us pure joy. That is an amazing thing to be given by someone you knew yet never knew you,, but you were out there.. and they knew that.. Confused? me too lol
I love this movie!!!!! My brother and I quote it all the time 😂 as for the name, as you said, here in Brasil the name is "Blind, Deaf and Crazy", but the weirdest part is that it's in plural... as if both are blind, deaf and crazy 😂
One of the greatest comedy duos ever. With regards to Wilder's concerns about the film making fun of disabled people, I am sure that some disabled people would appreciate being represented in a light hearted Hollywood film. Good things can happen people aren't so uptight. I think the film's comedy is still in good taste. Funny is funny.
Thank you for this vid Mark. I love it, as it is not available on streaming (as far as the platforms I use) I bought a physical copy. Controversy? Hmm how about "Vibes" ?
