Best rating format I have seen yet. Saw your live session where you hashed this format out in real time with viewer feedback - love your style. Cheers!
Just bought this bottle this weekend. Along withOld Forester,Michters small batch,Elijah Craig small batch 1789. Thanks for making me want to drink whiskey other the Jack and coke!
I have it in front of me. Bought it here in Arizona for less than $45. It is as good a high-proof bourbon as you'll find at that price point. (You could go higher and not find better.)
I just started my bourbon journey living in Australia, got buffalo trace based on your reviews and loving it! Just need to pass that alcohol ethanol taste aha ! Keep up the good content
The right glass go’s along way! Get a few glencarins if you don’t have any it seriously makes all the difference especially if you give it 5-10 minutes to breath after you pour it. Also don’t be afraid to put an ice cube in there sometimes I just prefer to have my whiskey with an ice cube hope that helps cheers!
Breathe the glass in through your nose with your mouth open exhale through mouth. Wet a little bit of it on your tongue and roll or chew it in your mouth. Every sip afterwards will be enjoyable with little to no burn.
I just picked one up on sale at a meijer for $25 just to try it. I then tried it and went back to buy them out at $25 and they were all sold out. I get all the hints and descriptions youre stating exept the aroma, i feel like the aroma is a bit light but the flavor and mouth feel is pretty spot on, im getting more of a butterscotch vibe from the flavor but between butterscotch and caramel flavors youre splitting hairs, i think its the buttery mouth feel that gives me the butterscotch vibes.
I just showed up but the rating system seems real solid and the production value of your videos is that of a 3m subs channel. Keep up the great work! I'm not even a whiskey guy lol
Love the reviews man, have you ever considered reviewing Japanese whisky’s? I really seem have less of that smoky and caramel flavors you enjoy, and more of a fruity crisp finish. Just curious since I’ve gotten into them lately and wondering if you have any recommendations if you’re able to find them!
The problem with Japanese whiskey is that it’s difficult to find quality products that are not imposters and it can really vary based on where you’re at in the country. Where I live on the West Coast it seems that Costco gets good drops a few times a year. If you’re looking for solid Japanese whiskey, anything from Suntory or Nikka is a good place to start, I’d also recommend taking a look at products from Mars or Chichibu. If you’re looking for some thing that is arguably more Japanese in style than the brands above, I’d recommend looking into Fukano or Ohishi rice whisky (shochu). Hope that helps!
@@zerodynamic thanks! Suntory is really solid and even at entry level whisky it’s a bit pricy. I really like the flavor the different oak gives I think. Cheers and thanks for the recommendations! I’ll be on the lookout
Question... Do u have any knowledge of what is in the group of samples at all? Just curious..I do like blind method and appreciate it's ability to keep the taster honest. We can see that your natural ability and experience certainly shines thru!.. and def like the scoring system
Very mich like the regular 1792. The LCBO Ontario's state run liquor store is having a lottery the end of april 24. 1792 has a single barrel full proof and bonded in the lottery so I'll have a chance to miss out on that lol
Cannot find anything but the 1792 Small Batch in my area. The only time I saw the Full Proof, BIB and 12 year was last week in KY, but the store wanted $120 each. I said no thank you.
If the bottle was more distinct then it would be different. But the style of the 1792 bottle especially when placed next to a bottle of woodford is two peas in a pod. If they had a knob creek style with the same name I think they'd have a stronger case. Love the review. considering grabbing a bottle next time I stop by the store.
You do you, but... I'd def seperate aroma/nose and taste. Had plenty that had great nose and then not so great taste and visa versa. Also for me personally it's something you're drinking, taste should always be the bulk of the scoring... you ain't huffing it.... well maybe some are, i've def had some i'd wear as perfume.... Cheers
I think you really shortchanged the value, sir. 125p 7ish yrs for $50 is only a 75/100? Idk too many better value picks out there. What would you consider a 100?
I’m a bourbon guy, but the 1792 is a damn spice bourbon. I love me a bottled in bond, I prefer a high proof, but 1792 make my mouth numb and makes me not want to drink it.
Can you do a crown and coke when I use to work at a restaurant when I was younger that’s all people ordered from the bar as a mixed drink that and grey goose and cranberry btw I’m not sure if it’s just a Canadian thing or just something people do in Bc
That price and availability score is kind of useless, since it varies so much from one state to another. That bottle is hard to find in my area and runs about $60 where it is available (and a bit of a hike to go get it, so add in $8 to $10 gasoline premium).
It's best when you keep changing the scoring structure every single time and keep a straight face about it. Keep the audience off balance and confused and then strike with a "buy it" sucker punch.
Why does he have to keep tasting it for each different score? It still tastes the same as when he sipped it the first time...and the second. It's not going to taste any different the third time around.
how can you really get a taste for it if you just swallow it immediately. Keep it in your mouth for a few seconds and let it develop. Any whisky drinker knows that..
