My uncle Richard bought a 42 back in the 1980s from my grandparents neighbors in Missoula MT. He drove my Mother and her Sister around to the car wash and then over to the Moose Lodge. They wound up 3 sheets to the wind driving that truck all over town. He brought the truck back to Ca. and worked on it for 3 years. It was absolutely beautiful red over black and chromed to the hills.. He said it took him three years because the chrome strips on the grill took 3 years to locate them all.. My mother is gone now but I still recall the smile and laugh she had when they all talked about that day driving the old Dodge around town. Thanks for the throwback it made me smile!
I love that you're getting these old timers out of the woods and back on the road. I used to look at the "finished" cars and show cars, but love the rats best now. I drive 3 of them. Thanks for your videos!
Life is good when you can find stuff like this . You call it rough you need to come up north to see rough ...just kidding great find I believe your part magician you keep pulling great stuff out of your hat or in your case woods .
Seems hard to find Dodges and IHC trucks anymore. Worth saving it.Nice job! PS I put a second pulley in front of winch to keep cable centered on drum when pulling at angle.
That's a nice find, but I wonder how much of the body and frame are salvageable, and how difficult it will be to find replacement body and frame components/fasteners? I'd imagine that you'd need entirely new axles, suspension as well. But that would give you an opportunity to replace the original suspension and axles with much newer stuff from a donor vehicle or parts catalog, to turn it into a great handling street machine.
The 1940 Dodge 1963impala2dr has and i remember that front end he had in front of his shop. But you sure do know how to work that wrecker to get stuff out of the roughest places
Lots of cool old car and truck videos Jonathan. Thanks for posting them. I'm trying to figure out where you are located. I haven't watched nearly all of them, so if you said I missed it.
North Carolina is a haven for old vehicles would love that dodge truck would be real cool with a modern frame and about a 500 horse 440 you sure have a honey hole good for you it’s a good thing for snatch blocks do you not have a regular wrecker even one with a wheel lift only on a one ton them fenders are nice that truck is really pretty good shape it’s not as rough the doors up can make some skins for that it’s a beautiful style I love that old truck the good is the fenders on the back the box looks pretty good along with running boards not that bad I’ve seen you do miracles with worse nice find
That top heavy look to the cab is always been my favorite truck. I saw a 41 Chevy, same as the GMC pretty much, here on Craigslist for 700.00 then they took it off and it came back at 1100. It was not in bad shape, Chevy with title. If I had the money and a place to put it, well you know the rest.
man that truck would make a great ratrod !and the Patina on it too ! I think that would be fun maybe that other perkins would be a great engine in that or that 361BB ???
That would help ! I love the louvered lines on the back of the rear fenders it really gives it class where GM and Ford never gave any look at style points ! It looks a lot like 63impalas dodge truck !
we has a 41 and a 47 one was for parts and we used the other one, not sure which was which, we actually also has an old Plymouth pickup, that was the only one I ever saw way back then, it was not runnable. . you might ought to get one of those little cordless chainsaws if you are going to be getting many out of the bursh.
I have a '41 with a 318 swapped into it. This one has to be made before '47. 1947's have vent windows. Which I believe is the only difference. I need a front leaf for my front axle. Can't locate one anywhere at the moment. I'm in NC if you have any leads...
Don't you just love those old military snatch blocks? So much easier and quicker to use than the screw type. Plus they're so overbiult. Makes them weigh a ton.
Yes sir my kind of stuff wish more people wanted ta save this old iron this stuff had class not just a bunch of aluminum thanks for the video take care :)
Jonathon, 1963chevyimpala2dr here on you tube has a front clip looks the same but not for sure what year it is also not sure if he plans to keep it or if he would let it go. worth asking ya never know. take care friend.
Who owns all the property you're rescuing all these rides from? Are they just abandoned? Are you paying for these or just taking them? Really enjoy your channel.
mine is a "wide" nose off a two ton truck.. the center grill is the same but the fenders are WAY bigger than pickup fenders. (like the big fenders on the back my rat
I was at a show where someone had a '45. Apparently the trucks went into production before passenger cars, and they were allotted to governments and special needs purchases. Sadly, it had been rodded.
I wish I could find someone to school me on that! I wouldn't know a good one if it hit me up side the head. I think sometimes the editing software reduces quality. It takes 3 hours to upload a 24 minute video, I am just afraid that if the quality is better it will take even longer..
