RU-vid is trying to be more commercialized instead of what it used to be there tring to het rid of small channels but i will watch every one of your video's a thumbs up em
When I was around ten years old, a neighbor of mine and myself, would play in a abandon 1946 Dodge truck, on the 44 acres where I grew up. It was left there in the early 60's, because it got stuck in the mud. We moved there in 1964, so it was there since we moved there. The past owner, was another friends dad's, said he got stuck, and left it there all winter. In the spring he said it would not start, and just left it there, as he really didn't need it anymore. He was hauling fire wood in it. That truck was there until 2005, when a developer came in and cleared the land, for a subdivision full of McMansions! The old Dodge was just a big pile of unrecognizable rusted sheet metal, with trees coming threw it, before they bulldozed it. Your Dodge brings back a lot of good memories, so thank you very much for sharing it!
Man, nice stance on that truck, it's a keeper! Also good safety tip about those lug nuts, I didn't know about that. Thank You very much for your videos.👍👍👍
Had a buddy that spent a boatload of money on new rims and tires for his old Ford truck and took them to the tire store to have them mounted and installed. He also bought some chrome lug nuts which the tire store didn't know (or maybe care) that they were the wrong style. One of the wheels came off on his way home. Trashed the wheel, the brakes, and dented the crap out of the fender. The tire store wouldn't give him a dime. Said it was his fault for buying the wrong lug nuts.
That ol' girl looks good sitting on tires with air in them. Can't wait to see the progress you make on getting her running. I am hoping to see and hear more of that flathead six. I am sorry that your videos continue to be de-monitized by RU-vid. I learn so much from watching all of your videos; I really just don't understand it. It was great to hear that you're going to keep on making the videos despite this. So long as you keep making them, I'll keep watching.
love the old Dodge! 1st rig was a 39, flat bed. Both ahead and behind times..cars had first in fender head lights, trucks were ladt of the Headlight "housings"! great video
I love the old Dodge. I hope you are able to find the needed parts and that the engine is ok and you are able to make a local driver out of it. The separating glass sure brings back memories from my youth when the Fords that dad had would have the same problems with the glass. Those old cars from that time were daily drivers and had the most unique and pleasant smell inside. Oh the memories and the good times of the past. Thank you.
that is a great looking truck ! just perfect amount of surface rust a satin coat of clear like the 55 chevy that you all just finished up ! Shows that Dodge was ahead of the gane !
This is a GEM and you don't even know it Absolutely love those headlights set up on the fender there is no character like this anymore and it's your responsibility to keep that entire unit Alive.
Bit of black spray paint on those center caps and nobody would ever guess they came off a Chevy. 😃 Power wash cleaned 'er right up, too - looking forward to seeing more of it. 👍
Man, I LOVE that old truck. She's going to look great with the chrome back on the front. I would take that truck over a new one any day. Thanks for sharing it Jonathan.
Great look , I totally agree with you . An old biker buddy "French Man' loved trikes, In the 90's he built a Dodge pickup like that into a trike. he got rid of the front fenders made a single wheel in the front , put an Olds tornado frt drive in the bed. He drove it from Palmer, Alaska to the East coast and back, cool looking ride.
That is a really nice truck. I also have a 1946 Dodge truck. It was my wife grandfathers truck. Mine sat for 37yrs. It is now on the road and I drive it every once in awhile. I love it. I had to rebuild the engine and the brake system.
Mr. Jonathan, your videos are "one more thing" that you do for other people. you set an excellent example. sure glad i came upon your site. gosh, looks like "most of that" would buff right out on the astro. those rims look pretty nice on the dodge. what an improvement. please keep up all the good you do. very best, walt
It is a true classic johnno. In australia there is very few of this era pickup left. We had a lot of dodge desoto and inters at one time, but few still exist
Looks a lot better already. If I were to run those wheels with those lugs I'd rather re-turn the taper on the nuts. Simple lathe job. Saves taking all the wheels off again. As the wheels are pressed steel it might be better to leave them as factory. I had a 57 Buick, that had 5" bolt circle with 9/16 lugs. Mine had bolts, but I think later ones had lug nuts. Like all your videos, please keep posting despite youtube's shenanigans. I know you can't put "thank you"s in the bank, but Thank You for consistently posting interesting and well made videos. Mart.
Really hope you get the title Jonathan, and keep this tough old Dodge for a daily driver for yourself for many years to come ! Cheers from Australia :)
very cool think I like old rusty ones better than the ones people restore ,can see my dad driving something like this back in the old days ,he was born in 1916 died in 1976 ,like your videos a lot don't know why they would reject any of them thanks for making them , if I was closer I would check out your place , I live I southern illinois
My 1940 Dodge Military 4x4 (VF-401) looks just like your pickup, only bigger. Rusty and well used. When I cleaned the monkey vines out of the cab, the seat springs just crumbled in my hand. Seems that during its 33 year nab at the backside of a cornfield, it became the local kids watch tower...in doing so, they smashed in the cab roof causing it to hold water and to rust through. The rest of the old steel is in good shape. I have considered putting a mid 70's Power Wagon drive train (360, 4speed, granny gears, 4-11s), but I am forcing myself to fully evaluate the stock setup first.
Forget the people who don't like your videos they can go jump in the lake I love your videos I wish I can have so many old cars like you my friend you are Bless so keep it up more and more videos
I like it too...knew about reverse threads on one side (didn't know it went this far back) but never knew about lug nut angles...hope you don't have to wait too long for the water pump to come in...l've noticed there's not much over hang on the back of those Astro vans (good tow vehicle for a bumper pull trailer) & was thinking they had short leaf springs - might come in handy for straight axle steering on a future build
Although you put the wheels on to "show" it off have to say they look good. At the end the video the transformation from the day you picked it up is marked. Looking a real classic. Good luck with the other jobs you want to do and hopefully we will be along with you watching progress. Best Wishes from England
You were spot on...it made all the difference. By the way, it seems to me you have a very active channel. By that I mean you get more comments and likes per subscriber than a lot of other good channels I follow, and I like that...it speaks volumes to the quality of your followers. I'm just at a loss as to why anyone of us would mess with a good thing. I guess anyone who reports your channel can do so anonymously, otherwise you wouldn't be having that problem. Thanks, JW for all you do and for a great channel, man!!
