69ssrszl1 at under 2800 lbs it doesn't take much to get them moving, and the 304, although in stock form isn't much of a performer, you can get over 320 hp out of them, maybe more with the right tuning! And Newcomer Racing put together a stroked 4.0 Jeep 6 cylinder that made 664 hp at 17 lbs of boost. Not really streetable, but it made 312 naturally aspirated, so anything in between is possible.
Nothing like a 6 inline, dual exhaust, cam, great cars, but, WHOA a V 8!!!!! Even greater build, and best of all, ITS NOT A CHEVROLET MOTOR, no LS, LT, 327, 350, or 572! Love your car man, o man!
I was 10 when I drove one and it was fun! I'm 15 now but I miss it a lot I actually teared up when they took it because I wanted to keep the car so bad!
My dad bought a 66 American with a hi performance 290 v8 the sales man told him it was the first year for what he called an experimental engine! I have no idea if that sales man was truthful, but what I do know is that thing ran really well for it's size later like ten years later my buddy ended up with it ,that's the first time I got to drive dad's old car !wow now I know why he never let me drive it I was driving a 340 duster at the time that I supped up a little, long story short that little 290 hi. Perf.had more go than my lightly modafied 340!!all this got me to wondering how the later 390 hi.perf. ran!!!
¨It has been called Argentina's national car¨ From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The IKA Torino, later Renault Torino, is a mid-sized automobile made by Industrias Kaiser Argentina (IKA) under an agreement with American Motors Corporation (AMC) in 1966. The 1966 Torino was IKA’s first integral national product and IKA was eventually bought out by Renault in 1975 to form Renault Argentina S.A. The Torino was built on the same hybrid AMC platform all the way through 1981 in both two-door hardtop and four-door sedan variants. It has been called Argentina's national car. The Argentine car's front end, rear fascia, and interior were redesigned by Italian auto stylists at Pininfarina to give it a more European look, as well as to make the Torino more appealing to the Argentine public and less like an American car.
like the one i haven when i was 10 when i lived out in the country but it needed 5000 dollars or more in repairs and it was sad to see it get taken away on the rollback... rip...
What transmission is in it? The shifter looks to be centered in the tunnel, so maybe a T5? I have a '69 2 dr sedan Rambler (American) with a '70 AMX 390 and WC T5. I'd like to put a TKO 600 or even a 6 sp, but I don't race so the T5 will stay for a while yet anyway. It don't take much motor to get these cars to scoot along. Yours sounds great with it all cammed up!
@@Gieszkanne you'd be surprised, I've heard some nice ford and AMC engines sound quit different just by swapping out the cam. And if you where to add an Offy intake to the mix....
@@Gieszkanne I never said it wasn't a V8, I was only referring to making a straight six sound like an 8. Years ago, I used to drive my 83 f150 as a daily driver. Everyone thought it was a V8. An RV cam, and half an exhaust system. Boy I had fun smoking the tires!
@@VitoVeccia Ok. Do the inline6 have a much better mileage? I know here one tube are some ford mustang and falcons i6 that already sound a lot like a V8 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Co4J5gWwitM.html
Donahue never ran a 304. It was a special 360 block that was bored and stroked to produce aroung 301. est cubic inches, ( Trans Am rules) 304 was a good engine but not a power house, If you want power it would be best to scrap the 304 since a 360 is the same stroke but has a much larger bore and way better flowing heads.
what are your running the timing at 5 TDC OR ADVANCED. I PUT ONE IN MY 390 AMX. FACTORY IS TDC. CAN'T SEEM TO FIND A GOOD SPOT FOR IT, IT SEEMS TO RUNN AT 13 ATDC. KIND OF ADVANCED. BUT DIESELS WHEN YOU TURN IT OFF. SEND ME A HELPING HAND.
hi i both a 1965 amc rambler and looking for front suspension kits, spring coil, ball joint and interior seats. Could you help me find those parts? If you have any names or numbers or company names for these parts. Single Head light, 4 door, 6 cylinder, automatic.
You own a American, right? Coil spring are not available. If you need ball joint, use the 70 AMX/Javelin model, if I remember right you only need to drill 1 hole and voila!
I don't mind straight though type mufflers, but they have to be quality stainless steel with perforated core and stainless steel packing...Those sound different the the snap crackle pop of cheap louvered core glasspacks.
