i have the old briggs repair manual along with some other briggs issued manuals. i also scored some small engine repair manuals that have reo,clinton,wisconsin,etc repair procedures and specs.... for free i was more than happy to have them.

You don't need High temp paint, regular rustoleum paint and primer can handle the heat from a small engine, they don't get that hot!!

I just did mine white yesterday too ! Same model. But alcohol and I bored it out and hogged the intake and changed valves to 5hp. She hits 10hp on the dunk at 7000rpm.

I'm working on a 3hp Briggs for my bike just an alternative to driving a vehicle around during the summer. I believe it's the same year and came off a edger. Carburetor is a lot simpler then your's though. No diaphragm, goes strait out rather then a slant, has no crankcase return feed. I may change it though I want to run the engine on different fuels like a model A would and don't want to risk bursts of alcohol running through the carb and blowing the engine up/ burning the piston lol! It's a very sloppy running engine but that's the way it was since new from what I was told.

I removed my dipstick though, and drilled a threaded oil return hole at the top of the oil reservoir and got me a small oil pump and in line filter and now I don’t have to worry about the dipstick breaking off and the crank will always be bathed in oil by the oil pump.

You have the air filter right , it goes forward unless whatever it's on dictates different .Wish I had a $100 bill for every one of those springs I've replaced . Great rebuild !!!

Damn it, it's amazing how a small project turns into a whole restoration. Alright alright. Thank you for this video sir it will help me in about a month when I dive into mine. But I wonder, can I get a pz19 carb and relocate my gas tank to frame of bike? Do you think this would gain me some clearance as well as update the carburetor system?

Good lort, I watched Part 1, then Part 2, then Part 3, then Part 4, and finally the first half of Part 5....all just so I could see how the carb springs, governor setup, etc was all installed to make sure the one I have is put on correctly. But for some reason, out of the 5 different videos, that part was left completely out lol. Oh well, you win some and you lose some haha.

Looks great. Store it with ethanol free gas and some MMO in the gas to keep that diaphram soft.

U have to get a billet flywheel though anything above 4K rpm and the cast will explode.

You might have vertical shaft air shroud and air filter. A rotary lawnmower would have starter in this position to go to mower handle.

Hey ROADKING, I was wondering if this engine was left outside on or near grass, because of the rust that got 'everywhere on that little B&S engine! It looks like a coat of paint makes it look like 'a million bucks!' Anyway,.you've done a good job with that 'restoration', and somebody will be getting a good deal here. Well done ROADKING!

How do you go about rebuilding a carb that has no part numbers on it? I ruined the gaskets in using break cleaner as starting fluid and it has no part numbers anywhere.

Positive Negative I would search the engine number and carburetor in google image search. If you find the carb that matches in an image follow to the site and see if it has any more information. Check each matching image until you find the info. Failing that post some good images to small engin forums asking if anyone can ID the carb. If you can't get an idea of what it is, then ask such forums for information about how to make your own new gaskets etc.

wolvenar problem with that is the this engine of mine is a frankenengine. Different carb, different starter, different muffler but that doesn’t really matter, different shroud.
