A lot of good info in this video. I just hate to tear my old cars apart so I took the lower panel off and went under the dash on my back and was able to find these relays. I cut off the tape from the factory and used my channel locks to yank out the relay and replace it. This video gave me enough information so I could get the job done without taking a lot apart, Thanks.
You're welcome. I've learned a lot from others out here as well, just adding to the collective. I can't belive it got this many hits. I still have the truck and that flannel shirt, lol.
Thank you! You are the only one who actually explained the job perfectly. I changed this on my truck in about 30 minutes. The two screws holding the relay out of reach is the ticket .
Even 5 years later, this video is still helping solve this issue. My son's 1999 Expedition was having the same issue. Your explanation made the repair a breeze and took no time to fix. So now good to go. Thanks again.
Turn signals went out about a week ago and I pulled my hair out trying to find out where the relay was. Found this video and it worked like a charm. Everything was located in the exact same spots in my 1999 Ford F-150. Total cost to me $8 and a couple of hours versus the $307 I was quoted at a local repair shop. Thank you so much. Have a blessed day!
Thanks for the clear, concise video. The black relay in that box is the Blower Relay, which I need to access the wiring for. Thanks again for a clear, straightforward how-to
Thanks for your comprehensive videos. I watched it 2 or 3 time before starting this project on my 1998 F250. Everything was the same as your 1990 Expedition. Job complete within 30 minutes. Thanks again. WWWDWY( What Would We Do Without RU-vid)
Removing those 2 screws so that I could get that relay housing in a position where I could get both hands to it was the best tip. Thanks for the video, it saved me so much time and frustration. BTW, my vehicle was a 1999 F150, and just as I expected, everything was the same under there.
You're welcome Ralph. I was fortunate, or unfortunate...lol, about 3 weeks earlier I had to change my heater core out. There was a great step by step out here for that, and it helped me to be an expert on this one...haha. Cheers!
i had this problem then i fixed it and now i have no fan blower the heat u can feel but it dosent blow any suggestions also the rear doesnt blow either
Thanks for the help. But instead of ripping off that stuff off, I reached under, popped the cover off and used a small plastic pry bar and removed the flasher that way. 5 min job maybe.
in my 1999 explorer, my daytime and regular headlights as well as my fog lights isnt coming on, i have parking lights but thats it, purchased a new switch and still doesnt come on, is there and where is the relay for this, help is greatly appreciated
Or just reach up in there and pop the cap off remove the original flasher relay and replace with new one pop cover back on and carry on less than 3 minutes. I have done it on both of my 10th gen f150s and my 99 expedition.
That's what I need to do on my gfs truck. I dont know Alot about fixing cars but this seems easy. I'm still trying to figure out what size to get or get it from exactly
Hey can anyone help? Replaced the blue signal flasher underneath the dash, the combination signal arm on the column and I STILL have no signal lights! Flashers and brake lights work, thanks
Sorry but I'm no mechanic, maybe try the relay. You could also try joining the ford truck forums and post the question there. www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php
i just replace that one and got my turning signals working but now my horn is not working is the smaller relay next to the big one associated with the horn ?
I've never looked into the other relay honestly. Maybe the interior light relay? I would check the pinout and current rating on any relay you plan to substitute it with. If I recall, the original relay wasn't that expensive.
thank you so much for your help i took my truck to fix the turn signals the emergency lights did work but not the signals you know how frestrating that can be I took it to 2 shops did not know where to look for the flasher watching your video i was able to buy it and fix it my self GOD BLESS YOU JAMAL
I just bought one of these and noticed that my turn signals work, until I hit my brakes, then they stop blinking and just stay on. Think this could be the issue?
Good day to you Sir.I'm in the Philippines.I understand that 99 to 02 expedition are the same when it comes to the locations of relays.Last 3 days ago coming home my turn signal, brake light and hazard were not working. Will this problem be corrected if the flasher relay is replaced? Thanks and greetings from here Sir.
It could be the problem, or it could be the multifunction switch on the column as well. www.ford-trucks.com/forums/932323-1999-expedition-turn-signal-hazard-problem.html
Not really sure, there are two relays down there. But I believe on is flasher, the other relay is the turn signals. I found this though. www.etrailer.com/question-131907.html
I think when they do that is when one of the bulbs is bad, either the back or the front. Take them out and make sure one of them isn't burned out. They usually have 2 coils and if one is bad, thats the problem.
For the record, many/most of you finding this video are looking for a yellow relay up and under the left side of the dash which can be replaced in 15 seconds with no removal of dash components.
