Wow Vogue even easy always gives a special look. The chain is what makes a Chanel jacket remain in place, it literally weights it down. The jacket's quilting works best on the boucle fabric as it hides the stitches. Lovely choices have some of them myself.
In an evening I like to get a hand full of patterns out and read the instructions, and think about alterations I may need to make, or sewing technique changes if any. You are going to have fun with these Karina. Look forward to your makes.
Yes! Yes! Yes! All of them are way above my level but I can not wait to see them. That red!! The black dress!! I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting (lol) . I seriously can not wait!!
Check hardware store for the hem chain. Usually sold off a roll. A necklace will also work, and another source is jewelry making supply. Hardware store usually cheapest. The Claire Schaffer pattern is excellent. Have fun!
I’m so excited for you to get those patterns! It cracks me up though to see that the first Vogue jacket pattern is considered an “EASY” pattern. In what world is a lined jacket with bound pockets easy, LOL!!!
I only saw this episode last night about Vogue patterns and matching fabrics. I was pleasantly surprised that two patterns you showed are also in my pattern stash (V9006 and V8804). I think Vogue's patterns are beautifully designed. Yet I use them very little. I almost always use the patterns from BurdaStyle magazine. I grew up with it (my mother was a seamstress) and still really like the patterns. I live in Belgium and - compared to you - we are spoiled here (and in the rest of Europe). We can buy magazines, patterns and fabrics very easily in physical shops or online shops. Shipping never takes more than a week. I look forward to seeing your realisations. Thank you very much for your interesting videos.
So exciting! I can't wait to see you make them! Even if you don't film them all due to how involved they are, just seeing the finished garments would be fun. Thanks for sharing your vision, I love hearing your thoughts on what you might do and how you evaluate patterns.
Ooh, I like your selections. I think you could do a texture change instead of color block for the jacket piping for that one pattern. Looking forward to your finished works!
I also enjoy Claire Schaefer jackets. You have chosen some great jacket patterns...and your fabrics are really cool. The last grey Schaefer jacket will look so nice in the lyocell. Look forward to seeing the projects come to fruition. Thanks for saying how you have to look beyond the styling to the line drawings... And sometimes they don't quite match up.
The Vogue 9006 cowl neck is Sian of Kittenish Behavour's go to woven cowl pattern. She has included it in several videos. Thank you for doing this enjoyable video.
I love all those patterns, Karina! I’m traveling from US to South America in February 2023 if you want me to bring you anything. I can send it from Chile.
Wow!!! Those patterns are great! I cant wait to see you sew each one. I love watching your videos. They are full of valuable information and they build my confidence in sewing. Thank you so very much.💞
Loved all the patterns you chose, have a few already but haven’t sewn them! It would be wonderful if you did a tutorial on one of those couture jackets!❤️❤️❤️
Love your reviews. I bought V7975 the day before watching, and I plan to use hand picked top stitching with my jacket and a same fabric sheath dress. I am using late 1960's inspiration, when I first learned fashion sewing, for this serious events module as I head into retirement.
You found yourself some beautiful fabrics (as usual!) What kind of lining fabric, say for that purple/black fabric jacket? And, I see what you mean about liking PDF patterns; for heaven sake, you made complete 2 seasons of wardrobe by the time you received those paper patterns!!!
I really hate invisible zippers too!! I hate putting them in and I hate using them because they almost always get the fabric caught in teeth. I have taken invisible zippers out of ready-made garments, and I will never put one into one that I sew. I love when you match fabrics to patterns. It's so interesting and fun to fantasize about the garments along with you.
V1831. I was sitting here on my own talking to the screen saying please don’t add that hideous bow to the back of the jacket lol 😂. Enjoyed your unboxing and I’m sure your jackets will be amazing!
Hi Karina, Your excitement over the receipt of 10 Vogue Couture Patterns--after four months of waiting for the delivery--is truly understandable; especially now, that I've have had a chance to see them! Thank you for sharing this experience from start to finish. It felt like a Sewist's Christmas morning. Your Couture Collection will be exquisite. The styles you have chosen will be challenging, for sure, but it is easy to see how much fun that will be. For you and for us! I don't know how you are going to decide which garment to begin work on first. They are all so lovely. Happy days ahead! I feel compelled to advise you to take good care of yourself, get proper rest, keep your life in balance and enjoy the journey. 👏 Karina, you have arrived, ready and prepared! You belong in the world of courture.
I love love love the way you speak! Whenever you say ‘look’ I know you have got ideas!!!! Also, I like when you tell us what you don’t like and why. It really gives a different perspective of what others are looking for in patterns! Thank you!
Thank you for a great video again. Please do a video on lining a jacket please. It is one of my sewing fears and I think there are a many in the sewing community. Enjoy making your jackets. Stay safe.
Love, love, love this video. I so enjoyed your analysis of the patterns, your fabric choices and your room! I'll watch this one again, for sure! Thank you, Karina,
Your patterns and fabric are the perfect choices. So looking forward to see how the V1825 top and the Vdress turn out, both are so beautiful and the top is so unusual. Thank you again for yet another great video. 🌹
wow what fabulous fabrics. and in particular I can't wait to see the black and white dress it is a beautiful design and with your height I think it will be amazing
This was really fun. I can see why you chose the patterns. It’s those tantalizing and unique features that draw you in. I consider these challenge projects for the future - I want to hit that sweet spot. In the meantime, looking forward to seeing you make these line drawings come to life.
So fun to watch. I still love Vogue patterns. When I first started sewing, all I wanted to be able to do wast to sew a Vogue pattern. Jackets! What's not to love! So fun to make! I especially like the second Schaeffer pattern. I am also going to identify a favourite, the Kathryn Brenne pattern because she went to the same school as I did in Toronto. I love your fabric choices and I really enjoyed your video. Nothing inspires like a Vogue pattern! 😀
Love your pattern haul! The black linen has given me an idea for my next Ballad blouse….as soon as I saw your fabric and you were talking about a same-colour contrast front band etc I thought of doing some machine embroidery in the same colour….I think the black thread on black fabric would look amazing 🤩
So glad your happy mail arrived! Great set of patterns and fabrics. The cowl neck blouse is next on my project list-fabric for it just arrived! As much as I dislike tracing paper patterns, I love the fit and construction of Vogue patterns. 1839 is intriguing! I can’t wait to see your version!
That was fun. I'm glad you finally got your patterns. I have 3 or 4 of the jacket patterns that you got so I hope you video them when you make them. I bought some of the ones you showed in the later middle part because they were unique. I have several patterns that are like the Chenille type ones already. I wish I had seen the one with all the hand sewing. I would have bought it. It looks like fun. Now I have to go online and see if I can find it.
I had fun. Thank you. I’m very excited to see some of the jackets. I have a couple of patterns that I’m scared to jump into. I’m hoping you can inspire me enough to do it.
New to your channel ❤ love to sew. Jackets and hoodies are my favorites to sew. Really enjoyed your video. When we lived in the Yucatan of Mexico, my favorite place was the fabric shops.
Wonderful patterns and fabric combos. Love your excitement at receiving them. Love all the patterns, I have V9006 not made it yet, look forward to seeing what you think about it. Going to have to get V1644 that is amazing, any sewing tips on that one would be fabulous
Karina, I’m so happy for you! Christmas in July😊. Those Vogue patterns are divine. The blazers are exactly the style that I like on me. I’m not ready for something like that yet, as I’m only just now doing my first fitted dress with buttons down the front and waist darts. I’m taking my time and enjoying the process. You are my first resource for all sewing questions. Thank you for sharing your love and knowledge of sewing with us all. 💕
How fun! I am looking forward to seeing these made up. I wish Vogue sizes were more inclusive. I am right on the edge of their largest size, so if I sew Vogue, I have to do some adjustments and redraft a little bit.
Good to see your plans. I have made the Vogue 9006 pattern some years ago. I like a cowl neck as well. I did short sleeves and I think the fabric was a polyester. It's a really nice pattern and you have reminded me I have it I think I'll make another one this Summer...sleeveless this time I'm thinking.
Such an interesting episode Karina. Thankyou for doing something other than dungarees and frilly skirts. You are so inspiring. Looking forward to seeing some of these made up.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles Yes that is one of your many points of difference. I am so glad you don't. I am much more interested in the lovely classic elegant garments you create. Thankyou.
V8804 is beautiful I watched Marie @ My Bucolic Life video on this one and it’s so detailed but I know you can do it your so talented. That purple is gorgeous! 1644 is awesome! It’s going to look good in that red. I think your choices will be great to see.
Enjoy your videos! I’d hesitate about eliminating the zipper because of the fit in the waist area of the dress but agree the stretch fabric might work without a zipper. Looking forward to seeing your creations!
Hi Karina, love your new patterns and can't wait to see what you do with them. Have your thought of going to the hardware store for the chain? Am sure I have seen some in our local hardware store. Happy sewing.
Sometimes you can use the fringe edges of fabric as embellishment. Maybe that could work with some of your plans! I think the red paisley fabric will look gorgeous in the unlined jacket pattern, and then a fabulous pair of black pants…. Wow
CLaire Schaeffer does couture sewing books and a fabric sewing guide. So these patterns make sense. And they are lovely along with your fabric choices!
Hi Karina, I just wanted to tell you that Sian, from Kittenish Behavior made V9006 and she has a larger bust, so you may want to take a look at her vlog (June 23).
Just wondering, Katrina, if you saw Whitney's (TomKat Stitchery) sew-along of Vogue 1643. Vogue was my company of choice in the 1970s-80s, when my kids were growing up. I found their directions very clear, so I learned advanced techniques that other companies would've avoided. I'm looking forward to seeing what you make...especially V1751
I love them all. How long do you think it will take you to sew them. I made a list with patterns and fabric to make things and after six months I have only made one!
Hi Karina, this was a lot of fun! I have all of the patterns you've just received and I look forward to seeing what you produce. Vogue patterns can be a lot of fun to sew and wear. Vis a vis the chain you were wondering about sourcing... wouldn't a hardware store carry that where you are, or a pet store?
Check out Marie on " My Bucolic Life". She made a beautiful version of Vogue 8804. The couture jacket. She also made her own trim. Your fabric choices would be beautiful Karina.
I don’t do full sewalongs. The workload is too huge for a solo maker who does not get paid by these brands for this. I only film interesting parts of each make.
