Here are two exercises that will condition your knuckles and wrists for harder fists.
These simple exercises not only strengthen your knuckles & wrists, they will strengthen every muscle used in punching and help you build proper skeletal alignment for maximum power.
These exercises use the Tai Chi Principles of Peng & Sung as well as basic principles of power used by most martial arts.
The second exercise in this video is particularly important for Tai Chi, Yi Quan & Xing Yi practitioners.

Nice correction on bringing the body weight forward during the knuckle push ups. Sometimes a small adjustment, makes a big difference. :) Cool video, thank you for posting.
@mandroid3219
@mandroid3219 8 лет назад
Awesome. I do knuckle pushups as well as I feel it strengthens my knuckles, but also improves all the aspects of a stronger and tighter fist. Helps to strengthen the wrist as well. What is your take on, progressively, striking soft to hard objects(with your fists) like punching a heavy bag or maybe even wood?
@SigungClear
@SigungClear 8 лет назад
+Mandroid321 There are training methods that work this way. The big thing is to start light and build up and then to always continue even to advanced years. I prefer the internal version and the push ups training for this.

How would you defend against a very aggressive and realistic knife attacker, not like the predictable knife attacks that you see on other RU-vid vids
@SigungClear

+yandri arce Train to understand and be able to move with very aggressive and realistic knife methods and then you will understand better and be able to employ defense methods with and against such techniques / methods.

Run bruh, who tf sits there waiting for someone to attack them so they can try out that one really cool technique they learned a week ago? If you can walk or run away from an attack then do, not worth losing your life over a phone or purse or wallet and even pride

I know im 2 years late but its more of a mental thing, teach yourself situational awareness. Normally, you don't know the knife is present until its in you so you can't avoid it unless you are aware of the people around you and can recognize the formation of danger. The biggest giveaway is if their course is an obvious interception. When they begin to walk straight towards you and there isn't apparent reason, expect trouble and react accordingly. Also watch their demeanor, they won't yell that they are going to stab you but if they are walking towards you with the demeanor of aggression and intent, this should confirm any suspicion and you should immediately 1. Get the attention of others 2. Put some distance between yourself and the attacker 3. Pull a firearm if you can but don't pull a knife unless you expect to be cut because knife fights never end with someone unscathed. Never pull a weapon gun until they pull one or else you will be penalized. Always try to avoid it, run if need be. Remember, you are trying to protect your hide not your pride. Take care

yandri arce if they have a knife don’t listen to what everyone says your not a pussy if you can run you should if not try to grab his wrist the one with the knife in it and try and force his hand against a wall or surface to make him drop it

Do you recommend a particular type and/or brand of shoes--that are ideal for training and/or self defense?
@SigungClear
@SigungClear 8 лет назад
+yeshuaservant7 I recommend wearing shoes that are comfortable that you normally wear every day. Train in these as they are most likely what you will be wearing if you are ever attacked etc..

Hi! You have other videos where you talk about slapping in tai chi, pointing out that hitting with a closed fist can end up badly hurting your hand (crippling you in a fight), so why knuckle conditioning of all things? Thank you : )
@ClearMartialArts
@ClearMartialArts 8 лет назад
+Page Eric I think you answered your own question. In addition to helping you hit harder the training in this video also helps protect your hands when punching. We certainly prefer the open hand over the fist about 70 - 80% of the time, and arts like Tai Chi and Bagua use the open hand almost exclusively. ...but other arts we practice use the fist quit a lot. Xing Yi, some Silat & Yiquan for example.

what do I do cuz when I do this my knuckle hurt so they can heal faster ?
@ClearMartialArts
@ClearMartialArts 7 лет назад
You should only do as much work as you can tolerate without injuring yourself. A little pain is normal at first because your knuckles are not yet conditioned. If the full exercise is causing you ongoing pain throughout the day, then you should start by doing regular push-ups, straight up and down without the extra motion. If you can't tolerate that yet, do the push-ups on your knees or even standing up at an angle with your knuckles on a wall. When your knuckles are conditioned enough that you are not injuring yourself, slowly add more levels of difficulty until you are able to do the full exercise as shown. Make sure you add levels of progression to build up your knuckles, but only do so at a rate that you can tolerate.

after i have done that. can i break bricks ?
@ClearMartialArts
@ClearMartialArts 8 лет назад
+iFotballHD To break bricks we recommend training with someone who is an expert in brick breaking. The training in the video is designed to conditioning your punches for striking the moving oddly shaped targets you have to deal with against a live opponent. Though it could certainly be a helpful component of training to break stuff, that is not what these drills are designed for.
