2" LIFT w/37s TESTED! Dynatrac EnduroSport JL Suspension Review

One of the biggest selling factors of the JL platform was the fact that if you opted for the Rubicon model, you could get a highline fender system direct from the factory. This meant when were ready to lift our 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, we could squeeze on a larger tire without an excessive amount of lift. And while we’ve enjoyed our no-lift and 35-inch-tall tire setup for over a year now, we were finally ready to get a little more ground clearance between our long wheelbase belly and the ground below.
While there is no shortage of excellent suspension options for the JL, we were looking for one that would allow us to run a 37-inch-tall tire with the absolute least amount of lift. Another critical factor? We wanted to preserve our plush factory ride quality. After all, we’re going to spend way more time on the highway than we are bashing over boulders. After doing a good bit of research, we landed on a 2-inch EduroSport suspension system from Dynatrac.

We just finished a 2" Dynatrac lift and 37's install on our 21 JL. We love how it turned out. The ride is just like stock or just a little better. The road manners are great and the fit and finish are top shelf for us. I think 4:88 gears will be the last thing, but living in north Texas, we don't need them right now. I can't say enough good things about this combination.

Its amazing how an increase from 35s to 37s is average and inch and a half more in height , i think about regearing , lift , gas , 7th and 8th gear . All for that tiny bit of height. Sounds like 35s are the best fit

Perfect. I have 2.5" of lift and running 35's. I want to go 37's and this video really answered some questions. I was wondering about the steering at full chock and whether the tires rub the frame at all. I know a lot of that has to do with backspacing etc. but being that you kept your wheels closer in, you would seem to get a good example of that. I have no idea what my Fuel Covert Beadlocks are spaced at but I just wanted to make sure there was no or minimal rubbing on frame during a hard turn.

Did you add adjustable control arms or an adjustable front track bar? Also the soft ride sounds good but I'm also concerned with sagging.
@Ali_Mansour_Editor
@Ali_Mansour_Editor 4 года назад
I’m still on stock control arms and I do not have an adjustable track bar. The actual lift height amount is around 1.8 inches. That keeps everything pretty well in spec. When I put my Jeep on the alignment rack, the caster was around 4.5. A set of lowers would definitely get it closer to 6 degrees, but it’s not driving poorly at the moment. So, I haven’t really worried that much about it. It’s still within spec. The springs are definitely soft, but I have a full-size tire carrier on the back from Expedition One and an ARB drawer system. Even when I load up the Jeep for trips, it’s not sagging out the back. Long term, who knows? For right now, it’s been great.

I have a Jeep JL with an aev kit, and cant stand how stiff it is. I have changed all the components to help get it dialed in but the springs are so stiff. Wound the springs in this be more plush and ride more like stock. Have soft c rated bfg ko2 37s on 17s and it just does not soak up anything just puts the feel right to my seat.
@DrivingLine
@DrivingLine 2 года назад
I don’t have a lot of experience with AEV suspension kits under the JL. What I can say is that these springs are definitely on the soft side. I’m not sure what exactly is feeling firm on yours. It could be the valving and/or springs. If I was to swap over, I would definitely swap the shocks and the springs and start fresh. This is a very smooth riding kit for sure.
@Jeffski329
@Jeffski329 2 года назад
@@DrivingLine I actually upgraded to falcon fully adjustable shocks with reservoirs… In an attempt to dial the ride in, but it hasn’t helped I was thinking of either going with some thing like this and keeping my adjustable shocks, or going to a TeraFlex kit being it’s the same as falcon
@JimmyDevere
@JimmyDevere Год назад
Its the AEV springs that cause the stiff ride. For example, with dual rate springs you use of the soft side of the spring right away and are basically riding on the stiffer part. Ride quality is mostly coming from the spring. The shocks dampen the springs and the better the shock the better the dampening in that the Fox Performance 2.0 will retain their effectiveness much longer and help soak uo bigger hits. Reservoir shocks are probably not necessary unless you are racing for extended time. In reality most of are just cruising along at a comfortable speed on a dirt road. AEV is good for roof top tent, extra fuel and water for extended trips, drawer systems, extra height for larger obstacles etc.

Very minimal rubbing on the plastic at the backside of the rear fenders. I trimmed them up a little bit and that was it. This is Rubicon, so it already has Highline fenders. If I wanted or needed more clearance, I could easily split the flare.

@DrivingLine
@DrivingLine 2 года назад
A 35-inch-tall tire will be the more practical of the two. It will also allow you to keep your stock differential gears. Moving up to a 37 will rob a little more power and performance. I prefer the look at off-road performance of the 37s, but the 35 is definitely the more practical tire.

I always look at the wheels backspacing figure. Ideally you want over 5 inches of backspacing. These were close to that and worked well. Companies like Trail Ready will build you a beadlock with custom backspacing or you can go with something from AEV which has around 5.72 inches of backspacing.

I have a new 2021 Gladiator Rubicon that has the 2" lift but I need a bigger tire for more clearance and rubber. That said, I love the factory wheels. From what I found, you can't get bigger than a 315 on that 17" rim. Is that correct?
@DrivingLine
@DrivingLine 3 года назад
You can run a taller tire for sure. You just need to make sure it's narrow enough to be with spec. So, if you are looking for a 37 for example, try and find one that is a 11.50 inches wide rather than 12.50. That being said, you can run a 37x12.50 on the stock wheel, but it's going to be out of the tire manufacturer's recommended specifications.

@Ali_Mansour_Editor
@Ali_Mansour_Editor 4 года назад
I just spent a few days wheeling in the mountains and it really makes me want to re-gear to 4.88. This is mostly to get 8th gear back on the highway. You could probably get away with stock gearing and 35s. It just depends on how hilly of a place you live and how much highway driving you are doing. In terms of trails and fire roads, I think it works great for that. Very smooth riding suspension. I will have more videos on my JL on this channel very soon showing how it works in the mountains.

Also, anyone have issues with the bolt from the passenger side front track bar coming loose?? Wondering if my mechanic missed something
@DrivingLine
@DrivingLine 3 года назад
With just two-inches of lift, everything should be within factory spec in regards to the tracking. I put my on the alignment machine and the caster was at 4.3. This is within range, but the JL tends to drive a little better with increased caster. So, lower control arms would help with this. If you are happy with the on-road driving "feel", I would not worry about buying lowers. I never had an issue with my bolts coming loose.

With dynatrec 2 inch lift will new front fenders eliminate rubbing in full articulation when aired down?
@DrivingLine
@DrivingLine 2 года назад
It depends on the fenders. It just barely rubs, so new fenders aren’t really necessary. If you peeled out the plastic inner liner, nothing would rub at all. Many of the aftermarket flares Mount lower the the factory Rubicon ones, so you actually might lose room instead of gain it. If you went with a narrow style flare that might be the exception.
