PRN gets behind the wheel of BMW's 2004 E60 530i executive saloon to look at the successor of the legendary E39 5 Series. This 530i is equipped with the M Sport package and Executive package which provide front & rear PDC, front & rear heated seats, heated steering wheel, Bi-Xenon headlights, Sport seats, Sport suspension, and iDrive with telephone. Exterior colour is Orient Blue and interior is Truffle Brown.
Our Tour & Review shows the interior button layout and instrument cluster, as well as the rear seating area and exterior design of the car.

They still look great today, especially the facelift. The 550i was one car I always wanted to try out when it came out, still hoping for that opportunity.

Sorry to say but thats not a M Package/Sport E60. It has the standard bumpers and no sport seats. Owner upgraded the stock steering wheel with a Sports wheel and installed the sills himself.

I lucked out got one with two owners, no crash history, only 109,110 miles clean inside out.

Very nice! Those are hard to come by with that mileage and only two owners. Most of the E60s out there have traded hands 3 or more times by now.

Likely was still an option in 07, seeing as some manufacturers still require it to be added as a separate option even today.

I have a 2005 BMW 530i and the passenger side Angel eye burned out which I plan to fix asap. In the meantime an annoying chime come on and I drive message RIGHT PARKING LIGHT MALFUNCTION come on. How can I silence this chime so I do not have to hear it ? There has to be a way to do this.

You might have to get someone with the ability to code the cluster computer to disable that warning.

Hey Niles, I know this is an old Video but I am looking at a 2008-2010 550i, I cant find anyone who does reviews better than you for older cars. Did you do one on the 550i? I searched but only found this 530i. Or if you can give me some reliability advise on the 550i Engine. Thanks in advance if you get this. Tom

The 550i was always a car I wanted to own, I remember the first time I saw it at Pfaff Mississauga BMW back when the car was new (also I don't think Pfaff owned that location back then). It's a car on my list to feature, however they aren't easy to find especially when looking to film.

Wow! It aged very well for 300,000kms! most E60's in Australia at that mileage are either at a junkyard or a running on the smell of an oily rag with barely any electronics working

So do we, it's on the back burner until the show can grow enough that we can fix it up. It's in our storage garage for the winter but it's no longer street legal unfortunately.

Hi. I just bought one of these. Can I call BMW to activate the phone Bluetooth? The screen says to call the BMW center...wondering what you thought. I was looking for a video to review the idrive specifically

I don't think BMW locks out the ability to use Bluetooth, however it might be telling you to call and activate the original BMW TeleServices, their on-board phone line for SOS and service appointments, which was decommissioned globally back in 2016.

@@TriceyReecy I think it might be the original on-board phone system then, we've used some of the bluetooth systems on these models and there's nothing to activate. Bluetooth in-car was relatively new with this generation, and often I notice sellers mistake the car's original telephone system for being 'Bluetooth' when it's really just BMW's onboard Teleservice for SOS. You can try to give them a call but I have a feeling that's what it wants you to activate.

No clue, but I'm not a fan! I believe they changed the window switch location and overall door card design with the LCI facelift.

You can thank the USA's Department of Transportation for that, and like usual Canadian laws mirror whatever the US does. For some reason they've always required amber front lighting, so all manufacturers are forced to add them on. The worst part is I've become accustomed to it, I've seen E38s with clear front corner light and it looks strange.

You didn't break the cupholder. That stupid design breaks on every E61 / E90 after 100k miles or so.

I'd say it should be alright as long as the maintenance has been done. The owner of this car is over 500k kms now and still using it daily.

The exterior saw minor updates, with more modern exterior lighting and bumpers, but the interior had quite a change. iDrive was updated, but also the interior control layout for the window switches moved from being mounted almost vertically to a more natural position.

It should be an M54B30 engine, the N52 replaced it for 2005 model years.

Goes to show that with regular maintenance these cars can last! I'll admit this is the highest mileage E60 I've seen though.

In the UK I regularly see E60's for sale with in excess of 200,000 miles (=322,000km). I have a 530i with 124,000 miles and feels like it will easily cover that distance again. Agree engine is bulletproof. Auto gearbox needs maintenance around at 100,000 miles, costing about 400 UK pounds but totally worth it (don't believe BMW lifetime transmission fluid claim). I've had mine for 6 years and every time I think about changing I simply can't find anything on the market that is such a good all rounder, so I keep it for another couple of years....

quick question whats the car like for fuel and that, im thinking of getting one in a couple of days a 530i 53 plate, but just wanted to know whats the costs for it since you've had it

I have a manual 530i on a 53 plate. it easily does 30mpg and gets up to 38mph on a longer run. It's on 177k miles too and have had no major problems with it.

Ya know I don't like to harp on about E39/8 interiors, but they certainly wear better than the E60 interior.

Get it inspected first! We always recommend having a trusted mechanic go over any pre-owned purchase. $1,700 might not sound like a lot to some, but could be for others. Hope you get the chance to check it out!

Perpetual Radio Networks thanks! My first car was an 01 Lexus GS 300! I absolutely LOVED THAT CAR! It was totaled by an idiot driver the day before my birthday a couple weeks ago. The insurance company only offered me 3,100 so that’s what I have to work with. I can only find crappy Ford Taurus’s and doge Neons for that price. My Lexus wasn’t the best but it was luxurious with 5 way controlled seats sun roof premium sound systems heated seats and nice materials. I don’t want to give that up for a cheap Chevy impala. That’s why I’m looking at used BMW’s and Audi’s the maintenance and German made plastic mechanical parts are what’s worrying me to death. I’m only 23 so my parents have a lot of opinions about me getting a bmw. I just can’t help what I want. Definitely will take a mechanic with me

The E60 is a good looking car, but not perfect as it has some ugliness in it, but without a doubt the E90s are beautiful from every angle and they still look fairly modern to me as a result.

They're not bad for 20 years old now. Some BMWs have aged worse than these, but if you can find a decent one out there they're not too bad.

The first generation of iDrive wasn't great, there's no doubt but it's certainly gotten a lot better over the years.

There's a difference between a Sport, and an M Sport. And also what was sold here in Canada as the 'Sport' might be different than in your market. I will admit though that there is a lot of misinformation when it comes to these older BMWs, and it was one of the first cars we featured, so there's also a chance that we are incorrect given what the owner told us.

Wow. Mark Howard, the guy that uses his company picture on youtube. He looks like a piece of shit unsuccessful salesman that has to do lots of coke to get through his miserable day. Cars are subjective mark, for me and my BMW e38, its mostly about the interior, so take it easy on the cocaine sir, it's starting to show. P.S. Go be miserable somewhere else. Douchebag
