2017 ridgeline, Just crossed 100,000 miles. The only issue I experienced was warped front brake rotors at 60,000 miles. I would by this again without a second thought.

I have a '21. By far the biggest issue that you didn't mention is the water leaks in the rear cab seams. I just got mine back after a month at the dealer trying to find the leak in the cab. It was a couple of seams on the passenger side down towards the bottom. There are vids here on youtube showing example. Everyone who owns from a '20 up should pull the rear sill plates and check the carpet for wetness, especially if the windows fog up when you start the truck. Its a widespread issue that seems to be in batches, not every vehicle. The auto start/stop issue is a recall and warranty is extended. They start with PCM update and if necessary they do a valve adjustment to fix the problem. The tailgate release is prone to breaking as its pretty weak, the harness being pinched happened to mine and had to be replaced. They 9spd needs routine fluid flush, 25k to 30k max or it jutters and surges under load. The rotors warp after 2 or three hard stops but tend to smooth back out if you are easy for a while, I agree they are undersized. There is currently a new recall for some pre 20 trucks, issues with the 3.5l eating itself that is concerning since the engine is essentially the same all the way to the end of 23. Time will tell if there are more. Overall the build quality was good and its a great riding truck that does 90% of what any home owner would need for a small truck.

I have the 2019 Pilot with 6 speed trans and bought it used with 34k miles on it. I noticed within a couple of weeks of owning it that the transmission would shudder at lower rpm. When using cruise control the rpm's would jump up and down. Did some research online and came to the same conclusion as this video that the transmission fluid had to be drained and filled. I've put about 15k miles on it since the drain the fill and no problems so far. Most sources online are recommending a drain and fill every 30k miles so I think I'll stick with that. Other than that I haven't had any other problems with the car. It drives nice and actually handles surprisingly well for such a large vehicle. It's a great road trip car. We've crossed the country 3 times in it so far and the only complaint I have is that the seats could be softer. I have the LX so it's cloth seats. Not a problem for daily driver but not great for 8+ hours of driving.

2019 RTLE here. 52k miles, with 10k towing 3300lb travel trailer. As soon as I noticed transmission shutter I took it to the dealer for trans flush. After flush shutter was still there. Turns out the Honda dealer here will not replace the trans fluid filter.. they deny it exists! So I changed the fluid again myself and did the filter. No more shutter. Great truck, hope to keep it for years and years to come. Thanks for the great video

My 2020 Ridgeline charging ports for the phone connection failed. Dealer stated that there could be a short in the wire harness. It also effected the display and needed to be replaced. At that point I looked into offers for a new model and got the 2023 Ridgeline. Other than the short, the truck performance is excellent. Who ever buys that truck won’t be disappointed once fixed.

Thanks for posting common problems. I had an additional issue with variable cylinder timing at 35 miles an hour on my 2019. The truck would rumble and vibrate when going at that cruising speed. I researched the problem and there were devices you could buy to prohibit the issue. Truly liked the truck, but getting honda to do anything about it. ah! Great trucks, but nothing I own has been so annoying to me. Ended up getting rid of it.

I had a 2017 that was stolen, was replaced with a 2021 Ridgeline exl with 17,000km on it now, the 2017 felt more peppy under light throttle and shift gears with out drama. my biggest gripe with the 2021 Ridgeline is the way it shift gears especially the first two or three gear, holding the gears like it is in sport mode, but lower the rpm at highway speeds.the other gripe is the hood don't perfectly line up the the bar that goes from one headlight to the other, rubber adjusters don't make a difference which way you turn them, seem to be a larger Gap between the hood and this bar on the passenger side vs the driver side.

'18 RTL-T. Hood skin separation from frame. Found just out of warranty and dealer wouldn't even talk about fixing it even though it had a TSB out about it. Bought the bonding glue and fixed it myself. Squirrelly cruise control at interstate speeds much improved by installing VCM delete device. Runs like a different truck since adding. Overall very pleased with it though.

I have 2019 ridgeline fully loaded, custom tires, and rims running boards, etc... my torque converter went out at 35,000 miles after doing some investigation I found that to be a problem for this model. The honda dealer gave me the runaround for about two visit, I told them fix the truck and stop wasting our time. That's my time and his time. The job took approximately 8 to 9 days to complete. Happy to say they did a great job. This problem looms over honda owners, who are unaware of this problem. Honda is disingenuous in that the torque converter should have been a factory fix, instead of allowing the torque converter to run it's course, meaning if it breakes down during warranty they fix, out of warranty you fix which can be a 4 or 5 thousand $ bill. Trans can last from 200 to 300 thousand miles not just 30 or 40 thousand miles. Bad Honda. Thanks for the😊 up dates.

Thank for you for videos. 2019 Passport, AWD, 9AT. Experiencing hard shifts at the 3rd-4th gear change at around 35mph especially under light acceleration going downhill but only sometimes. Seems more like an engine hold back (though not in sport mode) so like 3000rpm then a hard shift. Dealer changed all fluids (diff,trans,transfer) 1000 miles back no change in behavior.

2019 RTL owner. Rear window was replaced because of wind noise when I first purchased it. Had several small recalls since I purchased it brand new, currently has a fuel pump recall. Waiting to hear from Honda to see if my vin is one of the recalled trucks. Transmission felt weird a couple of years ago. Dealer made adjustment. Just had the tranny fluid changed in 2023. Truck only has 40k plus miles on it. I drive it maybe once a week. Kinda losing faith in the newer Honda vehicles. We still own our 1997 Honda Accord which we purchased new. It currently has 2000K miles on it. Has no rattles. It's an amazing car. I have my 2009 Honda CRV, with 188K miles on it. It even spent two years in Denver. Now it's back home in California. It has been a wonderful vehicle. Only had a few small recalls. My favorite Honda so far. I heard the Ridgeline might have another recall concerning the engine. If that is correct, I will be selling this vehicle and going with a Toyota Tacoma.

Love our 2023, with one exception-- water leaking into the cab. So far we've found two leaks, one coming from a bad seal in the rear window, and another from the bed where it mates to the cab (on both drive & passenger sides) sealant between the two was completely missing. Because the padding underneath the carpet acts like a sponge, most people won't know about the water leaking into the cab unless they lift up the floor mats; that's how we discovered the problem with our truck. Turns out this is a very common problem since 2017, with several different water entry points identified.

No codes yet (I have a good scanner) It is definably not normal. The cycling whirring noise is worse after warm up, can even slightly hear it in the drivers seat with the windows rolled up. VCM-It is your variable cylinder management system. It shuts off three cylinders under light load. It's designed to do this. I could feel it in mine too. If it bothers you that much, you can get something called a VCM muzzler, online, for about $100. It makes the engine run on 6 cylinders all the time. It didn't bother me that much, so I never got one. All the other TSB's, recalls, did bother me, and I did have the judder in the trans too. Honda fixed it for free, but I still got rid of the truck. I had lost confidence in it, and Honda. Good luck with yours.

Great Video, very informative and appreciate the insight! I have a long daily commute with my 2019 Ridgeline and have had the transmission judder pretty bad back at 56k miles. The dealer hit me for $400 for a double flush and "software update" to address it. At 76k miles now and i think the judder is gone, but im starting to get a burning smell through the vents after the vehicle is stopped after heating up. no oil/coolant/breaks...is the diff fluid something I should check on as well? the Tranny again? just not sure I like the idea of flushing my transmission every few oil changes. thanks!
@BCautosolutions
@BCautosolutions Год назад
Not sure about the smell typically you won’t smell it even if it’s juddering until doing the fluid. Possibly something stuck to the exhaust (plastic most likely). I would definitely be doing another 2-3 time trans flush again at this time as well as front and rear diff fluids.

The cruise control accel on my 2024 black edition is delayed by several seconds. It's annoying and even dangerous when I'm trying to add 5mph increments on the highway. Also, the brakes are terrible, often requiring a double pump to get enough braking. Not to mention the vibration and shuddering caused by the VCM system, which will lead to premature wear. I paid a ridiculous amount of money for this truck and I'm disappointed, overall. I've owned several Honda vehicles over the years and I've never been disappointed in any of them until this Ridgeline. I expect better than this from Honda, but it seems all manufacturers have had a decline in quality in recent years, even Honda and Toyota.

2022 Ridgeline Black Edition here. Great little truck. I love it. However, a nagging leak that leaves the windows fogged on rainy days and a terrible infotainment system kills a potentially perfect vehicle. 2017 RTS awd purchased new. 23000 6spd AT had serious shudder - dealer did a drain/fill/reprogram and problem solved. 5 months/5000mi later, problem returned. Dealer charged for diagnosis, claimed AT had no issues and stated rf cv axle is causing vibration & offered to change for $800. I don't have confidence in this conclusion as vehicle drives/brakes silky smooth below operating temp and in gears 1-5. I got underneath and did not find any play in the axle. Not sure where to go with this.

How’s your fluid look? A quick dipstick pull should tell a lot. If it’s brown/black it’s most likely fluid deterioration and/or torque converter. I have a video explaining axle vibration and it’s usually pretty aggressive especially on acceleration if you want to check it out. If your getting a judder while maintaining speed/slight up hill it’s probably the torque converter which can get confirmed reading some data. I’m inclined to think they may not being honest with your unfortunately. Although I can’t confirm from here.

Hondas automatic transmissions were problematic and often failed without warning. As a former Honda tech, i was changing around a dozen a week in various Honda/Acura models. You definitely want to make sure you only use Honda transmission fluid. Its around 10 bucks a quart, but use of other brands or the commercially available friction modifiers is not recommended and will typically cause immediate erratic shifting/slipping.

I have 5000 miles on my 23 Ridgeline. Great truck 25-26 mpg on the hwy. The electronic features suck. Faulty auto engine stop, faulty auto high beam, mileage range has frozen a couple times.

@BCautosolutions
@BCautosolutions 10 дней назад
@@antonslutskiy8039 yes but for the actual pump, nothing to do with the fuel level sensor. Most likely a different issue

Something either with the box or the mode motor would be my best guess

My 2018 Ridgeline RTL is showing electronic alerts (Blind Spot Info System problem and then flashing to Transmission System Problem). I had this happen last week and have over 130k miles. I turned the truck off and the alerts went away until today. I also had it serviced and checked (not by Honda) and they said everything looks fine. Have you heard of this?

Negative but sounds like you should have all systems scanned. Could be anything
