truckguyjoe The fastest 0-60 I edge cut using my CTS 2 with my old LBZ that was probably putting down 550 wheel hp and 1000+ lb ft. on tune 5 was a 4.2 second run. But that was also because I had a built trans, a completely overbuilt front end capable of 1000hp boost launches, traction bars, a Detroit locker, fox 2.0 shocks ....I could just launch that truck at 15psi all day and the front tires wouldn't budge toe in or toe out. So while I could cut crazy fast 0-60 times, it wasn't a power issue as much as having the means to get every ounce of it to the ground and not break. Not to mention the L5P is just a massive truck in comparison. Seat of the pants power is so much more than any stock diesel I've ever been in by far

Hey Dan, thanks for the vids. Have you leveled it or lifted it? If so, can you do a video on it? If not any plans to level it. I am thinking about the Cognito Stage 4 kit. Any thoughts on that leveling kit?

BigJerm70 I'd got with Kryptonite from the DMAX store. I had their UCAs, fox 2.0 shocks, their idler and pitman arm (moog XDs would be a good alternative), Kryptonite braces, Kryptonite tie rods, and their heavy duty sway bar end links. I also had a Redhead steering pump, fox 2.0 stabilizer I beat the absolute piss out of that setup and it just took it like a champ. Kryptonite is in my opinion the best way to level the truck and build the front end. You don't need all the items I just listed but it depends on the goals of the truck. My truck currently is not leveled but my GM diesels in the past were. That set up I just mentioned above is probably good for 800hp 4wd launches all day with the week link becoming the center link (albeit braced as fuck), followed by the CVs. I do notice on the L5P everything about the front end seems a bit bigger and more stout.

I DISAGREE, its not even blue its a shitty mint green. The Red is the only thing that made GMC different from Chevy. TERRIBLE decision by GMC, prob a moner saver for them. fuckin assholes

Austin Thacker Yes, especially with the new timing you know you're in a diesel, combine that with the exhaust break, Tow/haul, and grade breaking, when the Allison downshifts you'll hear the L5P sing but other than that it's one of the quietest diesels, truck or otherwise that I've been in. I'm coming from a 5" straight piped/tuned/built LBZ with a 7" tip axle dumped

I agree, it's VERY quiet, especially inside w/windows up. You know ur in Diesel for sure. Now that nice weather is here and I have windows down you here it more. But I'm looking for an exhaust upgrade for more sound. It could use wider tires, not hard to bring in TC just leaving toll booth with minimal acceleration. If you tow a lot get the optional mirror cameras. They are fantastic.

I unload new vehicule from railcars every day for a living and i am a huge Ford fan but the duramax is actually quite loud when it is spooling up. Way louder then the ford and ram.

Honestly I haven't had any issues since. I'm going to chalk it up to just a few irregularities during the break in period. Truck keeps getting better and better the more I work it.

Chris Lindsey I agree. I simply posted the video because at the time I was one of the first people to take delivery of an L5P so wanted to provide some content. I wasn’t trying to say it was faster than anything else, or even fast in general. I was coming from a full built motor LBZ

mychoclabwinston I'm glad there are some who realize my pointless videos were simply made to just help, and expose people to the new Duramax platform, as I took delivery of the L5P on the early side

It may seem like silly test and probably is, but it highlights the crazy torque this new engine develops. Means getting on hwy with or w/o a load will be non issue.
