Nothing succeeds like persistence Jake, keep up the good work and when you least expect it things will start to fall into place. Enjoy your videos keep them coming.
I’m behind on stuff. I just saw this video now. That truck is awesome and I like the white roof on the other truck. I’m looking at picking up a 66 C60 this weekend
Hello Jake , like your new Truck looks Good and its been took care of, like the 454 engine also, I got an ole 83 model 1-ton with the 454, thanks for the video and I know what ya mean about being busy, see ya on the next one
Hey Mule, this is the first truck I've had with a 454. Everything else has been the 350's of the GMC V6's. So far, I'm happy with it... plenty of power and runs great!
Yaay Jake and Pick ON, Brother! Can't wear out a good thing! NICE service truck! That'll come in handy a LOT! My pal that has his own shop just uses his pickup and does a lot of service runs and also retrievals too. No doubt about the business doing better and when it's time for a move or upgrade, it'll happen! Just jeep on picking, bouncing and wrenching! Living the dream!
And I don't intend to stop pickin! Definitely something that I really enjoy... You bet, it'll be nice not to have to pile everything on the passenger seat or in milk crates when I have to go fix something. All a matter or time, just gotta be patient!
@@5Tractorguy It'll all come together and once you get eat up with picking it NEVER leaves, even when you can't! Come down and wear your Tarheel Uncle out. You both'd LOVE it!
Hey Jake Scott here that's going to be an awesome service truck for you and your business and sometimes patience is the best way to have something fall in your lap being land or a building or both can't wait to see the banjo videos if you do so and thanks for the video
Hey Scott. This is true. Usually when you go looking real hard for something you don't always find it. Patience and persistence always seems to pay off. We'll see what next year brings!
Nice service truck Jake. No matter what you paid its better than what they cost new. From my experience there is one word that sums it up in business----KISS keep it simple stupid. It has worked for me for a long long time. Time for me to go to work again pretty soon doing winter machining and service on turf equipment and this may be my last winter----getting old and retired 6 years ago but still keep my hands in it except for the T4 diesels---not going to invest the money in the tools at this point. Have a good winter Russ
Thanks Russ. I'd imagine it wasn't a cheep truck when new... especially being outfitted the was it is/was. Good saying too! Is this for a golf course or repair shop of sorts? Working for the winter isn't always a bad thing. I get stir-crazy like you wouldn't believe if I don't keep occupied in the winter. When you're used to keeping at it all the time, too much down time can drive ya nuts!
EXCELLENT road call vehicle! Glad your music is giving you enjoyment. My Dad played the Steel...he said it was a great stress relief. Your perfect piece of dirt will come. I finally found a David Bradley 5 Special...with cultivator, plow, and a front rotary mower. It set out a long time, so. I haven't finished with it. And, it has been so hot, too. Have a good winter.
Can't beat an old GM square nose! The lap steel? Or steel slide guitar? Either seems to be fading away in terms of people learning them... we're lucky to have a dobro player in the bluegrass band, really gives it a nice sound. Nice! Good that you got some attachments with it. Especially the front rotary mower, something I don't see much on those.
@@5Tractorguy I guess it was the Steel slide. It was on 4 legs, and had 2 necks, and he sit under it..used a foot pedal and had another he used with his left leg. Dad also played the Dobro too. Both used metal picks on his fingers/thumb, and had a metal bar. I remember him taking it apart and rebuilding it several times over the years. It was a Fender. Surprisingly heavy. I know he had the same one from 1967 on. My parents built a home next to Mom's parents...it had a basement..and he sit up his guitar in the corner. All that was down there was the washer/dryer, a sink, water heater, furnace, and his guitar. He hated for me to talk to him when he was playing. Dad couldn't read music. Mom played in the high school band..she could read music...she tried to teach him..but, he was self taught by ear..and it didn't make sense to him. He had a keen ear..he tried to teach me...I had no interest...although I would have liked to play piano...I love the sound. Mom knew cords on the piano...but since I had a "tin ear"(as he said..not mean, he said not every has an ear for music) for sounds, they didn't get a piano. Dad loved Bluegrass. Oh, when I was a kid, country music stars played in every dive there was. In the small towns, a stage was built in the woods...or in a VFW hall..and in the 50s-mid 1970s, Buck, Porter, George, Conway, etc, went from town to town and played on the weekends..carnivals too. I remember vividly meeting Porter Wagner...I sit on the edge of the stage as he played. After the show, Porter stayed a bit and talked with Dad and others. Conway Twitty was a great guy. I guess he hung out an hour or more. A friend of Dad's played steel for one of the stars(I forgot who). We went with him to see Conway. So, Twittys steel player knew Billy, so, we hung around with the band...Dad even played the Steel for a song at the end of the set. Conway was so friendly. Dad used to go to Nashville for "Talent Week". There was a red brick hotel..singers and players had jam sessions all week long...usually it was just talent scouts and managers...but, lots of the stars come by, too. The Hager Brothers, from Hee Haw, and Dad were friends. I know Dad was behind the stage at the Ryman a couple times with them. He met about everybody. But, in the early 70s, they stopped having the open auditions. He stopped going. He kept in touch with the Hagers for a couple years, but, things got commercialized, and they lost touch. Sorry for being long winded..I thought you would enjoy the story. My Dad would have liked you, no doubt.
@@michaelcook768 Steel slide, neat! There are a couple newer bluegrass bands that have been starting to use that in their music. Which I do enjoy because it gives it that old country sound... That's something I wish I could have experienced. Being able to go to some of those concerts back in the day in places like that. I can only imagine being able to meet some of those guys in person! Today, they're so commercialized. Everyone is trying to hard to be somebody. I get a kick out of watching country concerts on YT from the 50-60's up through the late 80's, even some early 90's. The performers seem a lot more real like you and I, but played dang good music. More so your average joe to some degree... Talent week sounds like it would've been a lot of fun. We have something roughly similar up here to a degree, or at least in terms of the stars showing up. Banjo Camp North. It's a weekend long camp they hold for banjo players, they come from all around the US. They're are work shops and classes, jams at night. But the cool thing is they have all the famous banjo players come in to teach. So I got to meet and pick with Bill Keith, Tony Trischka, Jens Kruger, Bill Evans, Mac Bedford, Eric Wisberg, Janet Davis... I haven't been for about 6/+ years now, but when I first started playing it was a great learning experience. Definitely enjoyed the story! It's nice to hear from others about what it was like back then and experiences that they had. Makes me think of what it would've been like in a simpler time and place...
@@5Tractorguy Back in 1949, my hometown, Culpeper, VA, had an Old Time Fiddlers Contest. My Grandaddy and his nephew won it. Folks all around VA, WV, and MD came to it. It was, for that time, a big deal.
@@Ellenslife851 We are... Banjo, guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dobro, bass and harmonica. Pretty tight group. The folk band is just banjo, guitar, mandolin and electric bass. Somewhat loosely on the idea of New Grass Revival, but we got a long way to go gettin' to their caliber!
5Tractorguy But you probably sound pretty good Like they always say practice makes perfect and I bet you guys do an awesome job and I bet you have some awesome music and I hope to see you and hear some of your awesome music
Happy New Year! Just wanted to say love your channel, you do a great job! Nice truck, was curious if you had any plans on selling the 77 GMC? I've been looking for one like that for a while. Let me know if you do, I have a single cylinder Wisconsin and other equipment that could sweeten a deal! Hope more videos are on the way. Take care.
Hey, Happy New Year Dewey! Thanks! Glad to have you here... I would seriously consider selling the '77, but I'd have to find another '73-'80 round headlight first. Same as this (350, 4WD, Standard, 3/4 ton) in equal condition... It may not look the part but it's as mechanically sound and solid as ever. Who knows what may turn up in the coming year... Yep! The yearly archive video will be up Jan 11th. After that, time'll tell as usual.
Business is good if your busy. Keep looking you'll find a location. Might sound odd but even if you rent something for abit and get the cash to build / buy later might be alright short term
Hey Steve, all is well here! Been a busy 3 months with work and personal life. Just getting stuff sorted out for the year ahead with business, my direction for the future, etc. I'll be uploading the 2019 Archive video tomorrow that has an update in the beginning.
How do you advertise? I'm currently an auto mechanic, but would love to get back into doing some small engine work on the side. Do you have any garden tractors with a loader for sale or do you know of one?
Hey Donald, though CL and word of mouth. Seems to work out pretty well. I could probably get a lot more work with a web or FB page, but with where I'm working out of I don't want to get too far ahead of myself. Can't say I do. We haven't had any for sale for a long time. I usually see them a lot on CL and Marketplace up around here for sale.
'Tis this plan... I have to get my sister to do some filming when we go riding some day. If I do, it'll be added to the 2019 archive video end of this year.
I have a bunch of questions ?? Are you on Facebook and I can message you?? I’m virgle pitchford in fb. It’s all gravely questions. So I hope to see ya there so I can chat with you. Thanks!! Virgle p.
