2019 V-Strom 650XT Gets Cartridge Emulators for the Front Forks

In this video I install the Racetech Gold Valve cartridge Emulators into the front forks of my 2019 Suzuki V-Strom 650XT. These cartridges remove the harshness of riding the V-Strom on dirt roads and trails. The front suspension actually soaks up the sharp hits from rocks and wash board dirt roads.

I’ve watched a few videos on how to do forks but none have been as well explained or shown the detail as yours. This will be my go to video when I have to eventually have to attend to mine. If only Ozark World Headquarters were near me, I would know where to go to for advice.

@ozarksbackroads5484

Hello there sir, good to hear from you. The cartridge emulators wont give any lift to the forks but the length of spacer used will determine the ride height of the front forks. I this video I cut my spacers to give me a .750 inch lift over the stock height on the front forks. How did you keep the damper rods from turning when you unscrewed the bolts from the rods' ends?
@ozarksbackroads5484
@ozarksbackroads5484 Год назад
Hello there sir, good to hear from you. You should be able to buzz the damper rod bolt out with an impact gun if you do it before you remove the spring from the fork leg. The spring pressure holds down on the damper rod and helps to keep it from turning. At 7:10 in the video I cover this. The same holds true when you go to put the final torque on the damper rod bolt... do it after the spring is re-installed. If you get a stubborn damper rod bolt that does spin the damper rod with the spring in and an impact or buzz gun won't remove it then you will need a damper rod holding tool like this one.... www.revzilla.com/search?_utf8=%E2%9C%93&query=damper+rod+holding+tool Stick this baby in the end of the damper rod and use a long extension or several short ones together and hold it with a ratchet and you can remove or torque the damper rod bolt... Good luck and thanks for watching... :)

@jonsmith9892
@jonsmith9892 11 месяцев назад
Hello there sir, good to hear from you. If your front forks are bottoming out your bike probably is not sprung properly. Your best bet would be to install heavier springs in the fork first and see how that does. Emulators only work with damper rod forks. Your 1050xt has proper up side down cartridge dampened forks so emulators are not an option for you. You can turn the compression dampening up on the front forks to reduce the amount of dive in the front forks as well to reduce and perhaps stop the front forks from bottoming out... good luck and thanks for watching... :)
