No buddy, for volkswagen giving manual means cost reduction (more competitive pricing) Same thing they did it with skoda rapid . But, your point is also valid
Man! We gotta accept that German make like polo have been like a masterclass in their segment. Great stability, less vibration, prestigious interior & exterior looks, high quality materials used, performance driven, safer. The feel is real!!!!
That's because of VW scam in Andhra back in 2008 I guess. That's the only reason vw stepped in India and this 2020 model in India is actually mark 5 polo where as in Germany I drive a different polo compared to the Indian one, everything from interior to exterior is old in India.
finally a car that has not disappointed me . I like it how they kept the original look and added minor changes in exterior and thank god no ugly digital speedometer polo is a true driving enthusiasts car!
Launched in 2010, still no car can match it build quality, acceleration, highway stability , interior quality. Except for rear space, this car is just perfect. Hope VW brings the new model on the localised mqb ao in platform, next year , with more rear space
I own 2017 petrol Polo. With this new engine, it tempting to upgrade to TSI manual. Even though, my Polo also has touch screen, never mind using it while driving. DRL, Projectors and sun roof are not a priority for me. Perfect driving attracts me most.
Driving a polo from past 5 years. It’s been a great experience. No issues yet and it’s really what it is a class leading hatchback. Have almost 65k kms on it. My neighbour like my car more than his new swift 🤣🤣. Totally worth the money.
It's amazing how much VW is flogging this chassis! I bought the very first VW 1.2 TDi sold in Bombay in 2010. Still looks great for its age! It's achilles heal has always been poor interior packaging and terrible space.
I am privileged to own few good cars such as Honda City, i20 Active, Terrano, Jeep Compass, Innova Crysta and my one year old Polo GT TSI till now. From my experience i can tell you that no other car till now has given me such driving pleasure as the GT TSI. What you get is solid build, refined, performance car with all the essentials and no unnecessary features which we actual dont use on everyday basis. So, if you want something to bring a huge smile on your face while driving just once try this POLO TSI. I am sure the manual Polo TSI too would have the same driving pleasure.
What is the yardstick u keep for the word premium here..it is material texture, quality, color used, built quality,I am used to Tata products too we own a zest in our family but I didn’t feel anything more than Polo there..may be it is a new design which look fresh to the eyes.that does not mean it is superior..
On road is below 9.5L. Bang for the money. Even the nios turbo cost 9L. Seriously this is worthy for it's timeless design, quality both interior and exterior.
Got rid of my Vento DSG Auto Diesel last year (2019), after 4 years because of very high maintenance costs, including DSG needing replacement. Not getting a VW car again for a few years!!
GT TSI- such a very convenient driving experience. Almost negligible effort needed while driving to extract good performance. Hope 1.0 litre does not disappoint though it is a manual without DSG.
My friend got this car in 2012 . I was very impressed by looks then . Seeing this in 2020 like this makes me cringe. What a shame VW had to spoil a great potential car by doing nothing substantial in all these years
Love all those 1.0 litre turbo petrol engines now ...❤️ Great move ahead for less pollution implementing bs6 by avoiding diesel engine manufacturing...😀
Year is 2020 and it stills looks the same, its almost a decade old, people should quit buying polo and teach volkswagen a lesson so that they replace this and bring the same polo they are selling overseas
It's drivers car with top notch build quality and aggressive engine.. Though the selling numbers are less, still it survives in indian market only because of buyers who are more safety concious..
SHIVPAL SINGH that’s based on new mqb Audi platform that would drive the polo cost to 9-13 lacs and frankly in India no one would buy this much expensive hatchback same as in the case of new generation vento
The government’s the reason bro. More specifically, the sub-4m tax. The new polo, the mk6, released globally 4 yrs ago. But, its length was more than 4 metres. So, if VW was to launch that polo here, it would result in hefty taxes to pay, rocketing the cost of the car. So, VW decided to not release the mk6 polo here, and instead give the present mk5 some refreshes. And the mk6 is absolute perfection. If that was to release here, it would dominate the segment by leading it in every way possible. Best performance, best space, best safety, best handling, most features (there are even features from 30 lakh cars). Best design, etc. If the mk6 polo was released here 2-3 yrs ago, the Altroz’s sales and the Elite i20’s sales would have been cut short. And if the mk6 polo gt tsi in india was offered with the 1.5 TSI EVO petrol engine, it would have absolutely destroyed the Abarth Punto and would be crowned as the fastest premium hatch in india under 13 lakhs. But nooooo, the government’s taxes wont allow any good cars like these to come to india. Shame on them.
I bought the polo TSI 2020 two months back . Could drive only 1000 km because of the present COVID situation. Anyway my limited review on the car , it’s a beautiful performance car . The icing on the cake it gives decent mileage . I took a trip to Trivandrum from Cochin , I got an average of 16.5 ( one side traffic was heavy , the return trip @ 17.5/ litre ( traffic was light) . The car hugs the road and gives great confidence at high speeds. I can’t comment on maintenance since I have not incurred any . The rear seat would be uncomfortable for tall persons on the 6 feet side . My recommendation buy the car , good on performance and economy...
The only reason to make the Polo a first preference hatch in the Premium Hatchback segment is the 110 BHP which overshadows the i20, Baleno, Glanza and Jazz. In terms of features I would definitely prefer the above mentioned 4 hatchbacks.
I bought the polo Comfortline 1.0 litre MPI instead of highline since both had same engine then in January 2020. The only problem is that of the underpowered engine. I couldn’t afford the GT TSI which was pretty expensive and TDI was discontinued. Even though I wasn’t that satisfied with the engine performance Salesman actually has pushed that vehicle without even letting me know of this variant 1.0 TSI which is worth waiting till April which they will be definitely aware of. I just wanted to know if the engine can be upgraded and also the gearbox? . Since selling and purchasing a new one will be a huge loss for me.
@@HimanshuSingh-sr8qt Test Drive the Freestyle Diesel then. Except Build Quality it excels in everything. However, For safety there is always 6 Airbags, Active Rollover Protection and Traction Control.
Finally VW brings the package they should have when they launched the Polo years back. Fantastic move but is it too late in a segment that has moved ahead?
I own a 2015 GT TSI. From the review, it seems Polo is still a driver's delight. But it has gotten too long in the tooth. The car is virtually the same on the inside when I compare it to my 5 year old model. The next gen Polo has already been out since 3 years in international markets.
Absolutely it seems that vw treat Indian market as third world countries. Cmon there are enthusiast left in the cou try but how would you retain them when you do not evolve with time. I hope vw dont go the Harley way
Good to feel ur car will not get outdated. That what a customer needs so that he don’t want to spend his money frequently..Moreover we are in India and should not expect so much comparing to Europe.Just my two cents no offence
So it’s around 60K more expensive than the already expensive and no value for money swift right? So let me get it straight, VW has been using the same platform for 10 years so they have no huge R&D cost and it’s the same production for the past 10 years so which means no modifications to the production line as well, then why on earth is this thing 60K more expensive than the pricey swift? I know that VW has better built quality and this turbo petrol engine would’ve added to the cost, but why can’t benefits on no R&D cost and same Production line be translated to customers for a better pricing on the car? If Maruti are looting money from Indian customers then so are VW, shame on them!
VW are famous for their Engine, body quality and Safety. For your information, VW polo provide warranty on body. That's what Maruti can't provide. We want safety, not design
You do one thing buy an alto 800... You have no idea how much power polo can give you..VW doesn’t sell their product by showing millage...polo is a Tank
What an absolute gem man. That car is awesome. Iya only nissan promote it in a right way that the numbers can be achieved. Otherwiae it will also meet have same fate like that of captur.
Agreed those headlights look dated but if you can leave those anesthetic points away, those lights are quite functional and give a wide / far reach for your night drives
only problem is with the rear seats... you have to compromise a lot !! I can definitely say it is not a family car.... only driver and co driver can enjoy it !!
Looking at this Polo , I certainly not able to understand as to why the company is still providing us the same decade old look polo where as the Polo which js being sold in Europe is almost centuries ahead of this one. You compare: 1. Headlights 2. Interior 3. Exterior 4. Features All are top notch provided in the Euro Spec car but still in India the company has to provide us the same car, but with a small tweek to the engine. Today's consumer is looking forward at the safety, features which a company can provide. If Volkswagen: Das Auto you are even sesitizeing your head towards what the customer wants, please show us what your actual potential and do not behave like GM/Chevrolet who made a desaster by keep all the cars at the old way. Thanks & Regards
Real car lovers love performance, polo provides one like non other in hatchbacks. Just wish to go full throttle and prove you are driving a better and quicker car leaving others behind.
Spinny quoting me 2021 polo highline plus for 8.2 lakhs in 2024 jan.Should i buy it? I like it but felt bit overpriced need suggestions from car lovers.
We want this to be compared against the FORD Figo TDCI which has been the underdog in its segment. Ford Figo diesel vs this 1.0 Tsi are the best performance hatches available. Waiting for the comparison

Mr. Savage But India is their one of the biggest market to make enough changes in Polo exclusively for India only. If they don’t that means they don’t care about Indian customers.
To those who crying for its a decade old : I don't mind this if the car is well built and giving driving pleasure. The design might be old, but we drives do get old and we are driving in same manner. If the car gives what you want then why to worry about other factors ?
The new TSI polo, gives a click noise while gear shift. The noise really irritates and makes you think something is wrong with the car. Service centre says it comes in all TSI manual versions which is not satisfying.
I always loved the understated timeless designs of the VWs. Elegant. Few cars nowadays are going towards wacky design language, overdesigned. After few cars, they will suffer. Will look wacky n outdated
Hi Shapur, I'm confused between Polo TSI 2020 and i10 nios. Most of my driving is in the city may be 70% and rest 30 on highways. Build quality, mileage and performance are the points am considering and hence discarded the Maruti Baleno and Swift. Keen to know your recommendation. Thanks.
I suggest you Tata Altroz- it is not not as powerful as polo but if satisfied by performance go with it Ford Figo - it is quite cheap then polo GTi but If you want power you can go to Ford Figo diesel variants but you should put after market project setup and door pad but it is almost 3l cheap and moreover you can put this stuff for under a lake Volkswagen polo - if you planning to pre-owned car go with polo but reminde that you have volkwagen service center in your 10km radius Hyundai grand i10 nios - this is car when you love premiumness Ignore - swift and baleno I kid not in spite of being a country's largest car manufacturer does provide a best safety and they didn't have a diesel engine toatleast other companies offer you a turbo petrol value maruti Suzuki doesn't offer you that also both Swift and baleno gets 1.2 litre unit which is quite old and also maruti Suzuki cars doesn't have some some safety to Tata platform used Alto maruti cars are known for its worst safety So choice is your think a lot or you suffer by makeimg a wrong choice
