The second roll we did again - as you saw there was a mis shift which can happen sometimes. The owner did very well for a 6 speed. A 10 speed would potentially be right beside the IS500 from a dig.
The a10 forsure is faster 🤣 but in the IS500 rights it’s the last Japanese muscle much respect I’m a fan of both but the Lexus quality is forsure insane in 15 year the cars gonna keep working original motor original trans where as the same can’t be said for the other American counterparts
Both great cars. Love the IS500. Bad ass car. And arguably the best looking small luxury sports sedan right now.. Those 5.0 Lexus engines sound great just need an exhaust setup that lets them breathe
GT has terrible a manual - the only way to go MT in the Mustang is Mach 1 and up (GT350/500). Tremec is the only way to go. Regular GT has MT82 (no-go).
As a Lexus fan myself I want to see the mustang automatic 10-speed as well against this car I would never forget down in San Antonio Texas a 5.0 mustang got beside me and hit it sound like lightning and nothing but loud exhaust and he just disappeared from everybody I'm thinking to automatic would have been a different story in this race just saying
No doubt , I just dnt see myself or any real enthusiast choosing a 10 speed mustang. Just to be a little faster I’d rather mod the car and enjoy the drive everyday.
The American 5.0 vs the Japanese 5.0...great match up...I thought the GT would slightly edge it out but damn the is500 run hard!!!!!! GT in 10 speed might be ahead tho them cars are ridiculous. I love the fact both cars are top end based.
Some of the best races I have seen of all time on RU-vid, great work to all! The Lexus IS500 is way more practical, just imagine if Toyota made an enthusiast version with a 6MT.
Agreed. My RCF can beat a manual 18+ mustang but I get bodied by that 10r80. Rowing your own gears is so much more fun even tho it's slower. I hate that manuals are going away. There is a connection with a manual that this generation will never understand.
@@TheBb6prelude Well I haven't been beaten by a manual one yet. Just can't shift fast enough even with a short shifter and a good transmission. And these Mustangs in manual don't have good transmissions.
I think the issue with the IS 500 in the first roll race is that if it isn't already in the lowest possible gear it will not downshift all the way to it in auto when you just gun it while cruising along, even if it's in sport s+ mode. It's the main reason people complain about the transmission in that car, because it does everything else so well.
@@norwegianblue2017 everyone seems to be a professional at manual driving on RU-vid. 🤷 If you’re not Evan Smith or Ranger though I don’t think many people have much room to talk.
@@alpe6228 no its not lol the mustang driver just fucken sucks at driving. Plus its an automatic vs manual get an automatic mustang and it will be totally different
I am glad you are learning how to manual shift the car. As an ISF owner the manual mode is superior to automatic mode without any doubts. so anytime i see people racing in auto mode with the lexus online I automatically know they dont know.
Sadly that Lexus are eliminating the naturally aspirated V8 engine as opposed to turbo charging their V6 engines. I’m going to miss all Lexus V8 engines 😢
I've always been a Mustang fan, was my favorite overall muscle car before I got the IS 500. The Stang sounded freaking amazing, kudos to the owner! I told you in other videos Manual and Sport+ would present a different result. Ya gotta listen to the *passionate* owners. The IS 500 is the embodiment of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and the real owners only bring Mr. Hyde to the dance...
It’s awesome seeing two cars on a channel with different goals compared . It’s also nice to see cars that average people can afford to buy doing a comparison. I only recently found this channel and I’m a huge fan of the content.
@@sidefx996 if you graduated high school , have a job and you’re in your mid 30s there is no reason you couldn’t afford this car. The only people I know who couldn’t afford this car are the ones who dropped out of high school and work in fast food. The Lexus is cheaper than most of the newer trucks you see on any construction site. Edit: In two years once the current car market crashes this Lexus will be a bargain. I agree the current car market is high but under normal circumstances this car should be at least $10k cheaper.
@@01gtbdaily30 If you graduated high school there is also no reason not to know the difference between "your" and "you're." According to Experian the "average" 25-34 year old also carries almost $80k in debt. Your definition of "afford" and mine are apparently different. Paying the car off in cash whenever you feel like it is being able to "afford" it. Struggling to keep up the payment each month to keep up appearances? Not so much...
@@sidefx996 well if you want to critique my grammar you would see that I used the proper “you’re” but I forgot a word while typing quickly. Both versions of the word are now included to make you feel better . It’s also ironic that you made a spelling mistake while being very judgemental about mine. I’m sure the end of your comment was supposed to say “Not So Much “ but you wrote “No so much” but I’m not an asshole who will point that out. Secondly , even very wealthy people don’t buy everything in cash and saying you only buy what you can pay for in cash just means you can’t afford a car loan or have bad credit. I assume you will never buy a house because you only buy what you can “pay cash for” . Elon Musk who is one of the richest men in the world secured a loan in his purchase agreement for Twitter. The way most people look at affordability is if their money into their bank monthly is more than their money out of their bank monthly. My wife and I make enough that we each have our own car loan and share a mortgage . We never have to “struggle” to pay our car loans or mortgage because we are adults and have what’s called a “savings account” which holds our extra money we have saved aside from our retirement fund.
@@01gtbdaily30 Well I'll certainly agree with you on how most people view "affordability." Problem is if they miss just one paycheck their mortgage (or rent) and car payment will be past due. That may not be YOU (or I) but you know it's plenty of other people who can "afford" the payment. I do own a house and I see owning my home in cash as more important, which it will be in just a couple more years. I also view it important that if I wake up in the morning and want to tell my job to fuck off that I can sit on my ass and grow a giant beard wrenching in the garage for at least the next year and still comfortably pay my bills and everyone can kiss my ass. That's more important to me also than an IS500 payment. I wasn't referring to you directly but I guess you (and most other people) and I have differing views on the definition of "average" and "affordable." Again I can promise you that the average person who graduated high school with a job in their 30's can't comfortably (at least in my view) afford an IS500. I work a second job on the side for someone exactly like that. Garage and driveway full of nice vehicles , expensive house constantly getting remodeled and expensive fishing boat. Wife with rich friends. Yeah he can "afford" it but he's always a nervous wreck who makes monthly payments on EVERYTHING and hasn't had a good night's sleep in decades.
Have you had the BMW M550i on the channel before ? Seems like a car that's been under the radar and haven't seen much of it while having 530 Hp in the newest one if I'm not mistaken. Would love to see it in some races if you can get your hands on it
Mustang sounded sick as in ill, like its driver was short shifting well under the pwr band. Also sounded on each lauch like he missed a gear and it went from 2nd to 4th, huge rpm drop, you can hear it.
It really should be Stang vs RC F. They compete in the same segment. The IS500 is not competing with the Stang, different markets, fun race though. Love the Lexus V8 growl aswell as the deep gurgle noises from the Stang V8.
Awesome race! Both cars are very evenly matched as apparent by the roll races where traction and shifting matter less. I don’t think the 10 speed mustang would have done any better considering the extra weight.
In every performance test I’ve seen, the Mustang with the 10 speed automatic transmission is a fair bit quicker then the manual. 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds with the automatic, vs 4.4 with the manual. In my opinion, I would still prefer the manual though, much more fun to drive.
The IS500 isn't really built for the drag race. Once they take corners that IS will pull away from the Stang. Just going by this video you may think they are comparable but really they ain't.
Both cars are matched quite well displacement weight and power. Manual is more engaging but every shift it will lose momentum even with rev match. On the roll the manual performs as a 10R which commands the perfect gear and gallops where old autos would lose steam.
I love this type of racing auto vs stick shift just look at the communication the driver has with his car auto it's just looking ahead all time stick shift it's looking at the speedometer and having more fun winning or losing np
When I was younger and I was car shopping and doing research for my first ever car I stumbled upon the lexus IS350 and eventually after years of that being my dream car I finally found an 06 for 9k and so I bought my dream car. Next on my list is an IS 500 or at the least I'll take a newer IS350
He doesn't want to run a 10A. There is a huge difference in performance. You can't out shift an automatic. the engine compartment is very dirty. The guy in the Mustang is not the best stick driver, seemed timid.
@@nozopoke1782 yea? I figured considering that manuals have less drivetrain loss than the automatics it would have helped at least. But considering that it's the manual w/o the 10speed, 10 less torque, and 10 less hp its an uphill battle lol. Even if it was an older model without the new emissions limitation a missed gear throws the race anyway
Test drove an IS 500 the other day. Salesman hammered it leaving the lot so got a good dose of WOT. It had 10% dealer markup and about $6k more in questionable add-ons.
Got a 2023 model not too long ago which meant no markup for me. Premium spec so all options ticked. Frankly I enjoy the car a lot and that engine is so intoxicating. However, too much of a markup puts it in a seriously competitive price point (more so) where you can get MUCH faster cars if you're so inclined. That said with MSRP and snow tires so I don't die when the next storm hits, I love this thing.
Difficult to compare one stab it and steer the other one takes skill especially launching. You have to run the 10 speed auto Mustang versus the Lexus Sam. I think you’ll find a very different result.
A Mach 1, with a manual, Car & Driver got 4.5 seconds to 60 out of it The Gt should be about a quarter second behind that, with slightly less power The 10-speed should beat the Lexus by about a half second in the 60/quarter The 4 extra gears would make a night and day difference, plus faster shifts
If the mustang in automatic transmission it would smash the Lexus but unfortunately this the disadvantages of manual transmission you should be so professional in shifting the gear if miss one gear its end 🤷🏻♂️
In roll races the lex isn't in it's power band even with my ls400 I notice off the line and rolling 20s is best because it's within range , the torque off the line is noticed , I still miss my Celica GTS 6 spd launching it keeping up with some V8 and slot of v6s
Yeah, I think a 2021 Mustang GT (AT) would do a little better. Or even a 2021 mustang GT manual since it would be lighter than the automatic but still with 10 more ponies and torque !
Wow, SMH. The driver on the Stang can’t drive a manual…period. The only time you compliment a driver on “How they shift in a Manual” is when you know they can’t.
Where I come from, the Ford needs new screws for the door because they were blown off in the quarter. Manuals are fun and they used to be the way to go. Today you can’t out shift an auto. I like the new GTs, but way over priced. Everything is now.
