Recently someone asked me if I could tell them about depth maps in Photoshop 3D. Here I explain how they work while showing you a cool trick that demonstrates one of the many ways you can use the feature.
Thnk you for the tutorial :-). Do you know how can I export such image so that the final image format still has the information about depth ? Thank you :-)
Hi Jana, I'm relatively new to the whole 3D environment thing but I think you must export it as an STL via the printer settings some how. Sorry, not much help.
If you do not need a 3d object as result.... is this still superior to the "old" displacement maps?? E.g. a couple of weeks ago I wanted to wrap a headshot around a round object (not perfectly round though) and yes.... with some back and forth I eventually got it to a point I could call acceptable, but in general It could work better.... So is the 3d version superior? might it pay of to do the maping in 3d and then convert it back to 2d ?? Thanks for the tutorial. 3d is actually one of the few areas I havent done anything serious with. Mainly though because I havent found many use-cases for it besides as a convenience feature when compositing... and of cause you happen to have the 3d obj you require which is rare and pixelsquid is much easier. . P.S. and yes I know that their are many more (crud) ways to do something like I described in 2d. But (puppet) wraping it by hand e.g. is only for a prove of concept imho.
Corey Barker must be a fucking asshole since he never even bothered to answer your very valid question. As the old saying goes it is better to not answer than to show yourself as an idiot.
