3V Mustang Engine Blown! Engine Tear down…

I know it's been a long time since I last uploaded but here is a video of the blown engine being tore down. the second engine blew on me after this so now I am currently waiting on parts to make this engine hold up to 1000 HP. if there is anything you want to know just ask in the comments or add me on Instagram for more frequent updates.

It’s safe if you keep the boost low mine was just turned up and it was cool outside

Gathering parts and my old truck blew its engine so I just traded it in for an f-250 so now I’m saving up to get the rest of the parts

I was debating between the two but tbh both blocks are good for up to 1000. Anything above and you need the cast iron block

A couple of rods and a 5 gallon bucket of JB weld and your back on the road. LOL. Wow she detonated. That looks like high rpm explosion. I'm working towards doing a 4.6 3v swap in my 03' Crown Vic Police Interceptor. It makes the same power as the 4v in the Marauder. But with a better power band. And she's narrower then the 4v. And cheaper lol. I'm going to use the stock 3v ECU so I can run the VVT and charge motion valves in the intake. At least till I boost it. Foureyes showed changing the intake to a Ford Racing Intake dropped alot of power through the torque band. I don't want to loose that much power until I boost it with a turbo. A set of Weisco pistons and K1 rods and a forged crank should help her last. She's going to be my daily but not my work car lol. I don't want to wear her out just driving back and forth to work. That is a good looking Stang. Everyone is doing either Ls swaps or 5 oh swaps. I want to be different and you can make Lot of power with the 4.6 it just costs more then the Ls.

@screamingyeller8853 yes sir. I'm working on building my 4.6 3v fir my Vic. It's gonna be a bit too. Same as you. It takes time to save up for parts lol. We will get there tho.

Wow! I'd love to hear some details about it when it blew--what rpm, oil pressure, and how long it ran after your first noticed something. Good stuff

So both times that it blew was when I was doing 60-130 pulls when I was in top of 4th gear my afr was high the first time so I suspect that’s why it blew and the 2nd motor blew with correct afr I just think being in 4th gear pushing to much power is what undid that motor. And I didn’t notice anything it just literally blew up both times going 130 mph lol.

What was your hp and torque estimates? Do you think if you ran less boost and a more conservative tune, the motor would’ve held a bit longer? Thanks in advance. Z

@@ZalR713 yeah when I first got it tuned it made 500 hp so it was safe but that was in the middle of summer and 100 degrees out when it got colder you could tell it was making way more plus I fixed a small boost leak if I had to guess it was over 550hp and 550 torque

Sorry to say this. Blowing up the first engine was bad enough, but blowing up a second engine knowing the stock connecting rods wouldn't stand up to much over 450rwtq was just asking for trouble. That long pull in 4th gear must have sent the IATs though the roof and caused the engine to detonate. It's a shame you now have to build a third engine. At least you now realise that you'll need an all forged bottom end if you're aiming for 1000hp. Add a HV oil pump with billet gears and a larger capacity oil pan to your shopping list. The 4.6 3V is a great engine when built correctly for boost.

Yeah the problem with the second engine blowing was my fault. I changed the engine and couldn’t get it tuned for another month at that time so me being stupid I did a pull the temp outside was in the 40’s but when i had the car tuned it was the middle of summer and around 95 degrees outside so I was making even more power when the temp out side dropped. Afr was fine just put to much power down I’m estimating close to 600 whp maybe more. I also had my boost at 12 psi for the track and forgot to put it back to 10 psi for street when it blew. I just finally got my lowers in so I will be making a video on that which I should have out sometime in January. Next year I will have more content to post. Waited 6 months for parts due to shortages

@@screamingyeller8853 I look forward to seeing your future videos when you start building a new engine. Let this be a cautionary tale to those who are running forced induction on a stock bottom end. I'd suggest maximum boost be limited to 7psi on turbo and positive displacement supercharger set ups, and 10psi (at 6500rpm) on a centri. Also monitor the IAT with a gauge.

Still working on getting parts for the engine build and my daily pick up blew an engine so I had to get me another truck. I might do an update video on the parts that I have and what’s left to go before I start building

@@screamingyeller8853 hey if you don’t mind helping me out for a quick second, i am currently installing my on3 turbo kit for my 3 valve. i relocated the oil filter and the same oil filter doesn’t fit the relocated oil filter housing. do you run a smaller oil filter? if so, what size?

I’m looking at this same kit, just crossed 139k miles but I maintain it and run 93 octane with premium oil. If the car seems like it’s in good condition do you think the kit will cause any issues?

No as long as you keep the boost low mine was turned up to high which caused me to blow mine.

I'm about to rebuild mine. 107k big cam and she got a nasty knock and lost oil pressure. Dunno what happened but I have an on3 kit and want those sweet whoosh noises. I just followed on insta cause I have no clue what I'm doing haha

You shouldn’t have any problems at all it’s when you push over 500 wheel tq. Is when it’s a problem

@@bakk2racks30 yes my boost went up because the temps tire was 30 degrees less than when I got it tuned and I fixed a boost leak. I originally had it set to 10 psi at 500 hp and 500 tq
