Import or domestic? Turbo 4 banger or blown V8? FWD or RWD? HONDAS or HATERS? Beto @ONDGAS is back, but this time he brought his "Sunday Cruiser" 1969 Camaro Z/28 instead of his truck Crawfish. He claims to be rocking a fairly mild 500hp supercharged LS3 under the hood, but it seems suspiciously fast... In the other corner we've got Jake from @jsrengines in his FK8 Civic Type R that's pushing 32 POUNDS OF BOOST through a stock motor. These cars couldn't be more different, but the race is a close one!

@@baggedtuned8569 It probably does only have around 500 HP. The big difference in launch is most likely in the gear ratio of the rear diff because in the roll race the Honda starts to pick up speed in the end of the 1000 ft but the Camaro's top end is limited because of it's low gearing.

Don’t forget hoonigan does not show tq numbers which matter in a drag race to 1000ft. Or average power number or average tq numbers on the curve which is really what matters. 8 cylinders is better than 4 when it’s only sacrificing 200lbs to get twice the cylinders.

Not sure why everyone thinks the Camaro was lying about it’s power? Honda making 550~ was reeling him in on the top end and the cars were similar in weight (especially with big boy in the Honda).

True and turbo vs supercharged, the Camaro has more torque, rwd and is faster from the dig. But the Honda is faster on the top end once its boosting correctly. If it was a longer race for ex. a quarter mile the Honda would have won. Not to mention that it looks like if the driver was lighter it would have won the 1000 as well

Better gearing, better aero. Camaro only has a 4 speed and is shaped like a brick. The top speed on Type R is 169 stock, and this one is pretty modified.

False. There are several different platforms that "Drag/Drive and Street" cars run. Also, Turbos are the replacement for displacement, especially when smaller engines can produce the same power efficiently. Get out of that Neanderthal way of thinking.

In the early 2000s a group of us turbo'd and drag raced bmws. We made t shirts that said "The Replacement for Displacement" with a pic of a turbo. Back before the LS turbo era. E85 wasn't even available yet and the biggest injectors you could buy were Bosch 160lb/1600cc joints. Crazy how much has changed in 2 decades.

As an FK8 owner I am a little scares to get a tune--i have the usuals (intake box/intake pipe/full exhaust/HKS intercooler and getting a PLM high flow cat) but am a bit apprehensive getting a tune because I hear at 400 hp/400 lb ft the rods bend due to low rpm torque. The way I understand it is that tuners are pushing the power farther up the rpm band (on stock internals) so each power stroke isn't as intense at low rpm--there are just more of them, and that is how they are getting these things to stay together at 500 wheel. I think I'd get the Spoon Swan Neck wing instead of that monstrosity on there. Respectfully.
