Definitely agree with that quote about American health. We're in a nation where corporate greed rules everything, including people's health. One thing I'm doing to take back control of my health is growing a fruit/vegetable garden. Eating more fresh healthy foods and being more self-sufficient. It's very rewarding :)

Fantastic video, Dan-especially your take on the way the system is set up and pointing out the criminal lie that processed foods have a questionable effect on obesity. I'm 60-I went to a 2000 student high school, and you could count on one hand the number of obese kids. Today, the majority are obese.

seed oils have the heart healthy AHA seal on it, just unbelievable the govt. pushes toxic foods to the public. never even mind high fructose corn syrup and so much more. private companies use partially hyrogenated oil and reduce the serving size so they can claim ZERO TRANS FATS! such liars. wish this guy had covered this important detail in this video as a real life example.

not just move, but get that heart rate up in bursts throughout the day. run, not walk, can't run? then walk, or crawl if you can't walk. and watch out for seed oils and hfcs-like trash in nearly all foods.

Wood and rocks have calories too. The idea of calories needs to die already, you can lower your caloric intake to 1500 kcal and your body will slow down your metabolism to adapt. And then you’ll start to gain weight. Metabolic throttling by improving liver health and hormone function is a better strategy.

This is a great video. One area you don’t mention that I think it’s also important is the time at which you sleep and your quality of sleep affecting your hormones to help you lose weight. And thanks for highlighting that it can take awhile to change behaviors. Eating whole food is better.

great vid! I started losing weight in June '21 and my goal was 50lbs in 9 months. I did it 6 and created a new healthy lifestyle of eating and exercising. time is what's needed. be patient and trust the process. stay the course LOL it's tough and I still have a little belly left to go since I had multiple arm issues and rehab has put me off my pace. But I have a goal in Oct to lose the fat, not the muscle. It's more mental than physical. Much appreciated!

I lose 50lbs but I took my time. My starting weight was 280. 12 months later I was down to 230. My doctor took me off blood pressure medication and high cholesterol medication. Slow and steady really worked for me I look just as good at 47 as I did at 27. I use a mix of cardio and strength training I don’t diet but I do watch what I eat. I feel great I have 17% body fat once I get to 14%. I will have reached my goal. I should be 218 at that point in my lifestyle change. Another thing guys stop drinking alcohol throughout the week and if you work out at least one day on the weekends you should only drink 2-3 alcohol beverages so you can go to the gym the next day.

My problem is that I am 250 pounds and to get my protein goal I tend to overeat😢
@K4R3N
@K4R3N 29 дней назад
How much protein are you going for? Each 1 gram of protein is about 4 calories. Even if you are targeting 200g protein daily that's still only 800 calories. Consider cutting more carbs and fat to stay under calorie budget.
@danfounder
@danfounder 28 дней назад
Yup that’s tricky. Gotta find a few meals to stick to that will give a proper protein to calorie ratio.
@gizmoffm
@gizmoffm 28 дней назад
Your calculating it wrong, the protein amount should be calculated based on your healthy goal weight and not your current weight

Less than 10% of Americans follow the public health food guidelines, if they did there wouldn't be so many obese people. To say it's the reason that people are obese is false. Not sure where you pulled that from. Overall, I'd agree with most of what you said though.
@danfounder
@danfounder 27 дней назад
I believe in the video I listed a multitude of reasons. Not just one.
@SteakandChains
@SteakandChains 27 дней назад
Feeling hungry after you eat is because you are not giving yourself proper nutrients, animal protein and fats are satiating. You get hungry for the things your body needs or is missing. You shouldn’t have to struggle with hunger if you eat properly.
@paulspaziante5766
@paulspaziante5766 28 дней назад
You had me up to the point where you said "the American system wants you to get fat, use the pharma system to get leaner and use the healthcare system for money (paraphrase) That is so far from the truth it really is out there. No physician, or healthcare advisor ever wants to see someone so unhealthy that they need to be on medications for their care. The payers like BCBS, United Healthcare and others are struggling because of the obesity issue in the US and want people healthy so they do NOT use the system--that saves them money. I do agree with all of your p]advice here however. the individual NEEDS to take responsibility for their own healthcare and be their own advocate--especially for being healthy and fit
@K4R3N
@K4R3N 28 дней назад
It may be unintentional. They have only recently been teaching nutrition and exercise concepts in medical schools. Too much emphasis on pharmacology, not enough on basic maintenance. Can any US doctor even recommend a decent exercise program? The surgeons are always ready to operate.
@paulspaziante5766
@paulspaziante5766 27 дней назад
@@K4R3N I believe you are correct in that statement. Not many physicians emphasize the need to eat to live not live to eat. Im in the oncology field and these physicians are just starting to educate patients on the need to eat less refined products and focus on more choices that have less refined fast carbs, etc.
@K4R3N
@K4R3N 27 дней назад
@@paulspaziante5766 I was married to a Infectious Disease doc for 19 years. Married her when she was in medical school and helped her study for boards even. Not once was nutrition or muscle really covered in any of her board exams. Couple of my younger relatives are also doctors and they have told me recently the curriculum have started to include nutrition and muscle (as an organ system like nephrology pulmonary or cardiac).

you do realize that hfcs and such trash is pushed by the govt. right? high fructose is CHEAP for manufacturers and is addictive (it is sweeter than sugar) and ultra processed foods all have it. even ketchup and other basic items. that trash is everywhere. that along with seed oils. if the govt. really cared, it would ban this trash but it does not. it SUBSIDIZES hfcs! amazing. so no, YOU are the one who is living in a fantasy land

Im in a cal deficit and still gaining weight because of pills. Next time consider people who are ill. Not everyone is lucky. Think before you start blaming us
@elizabethwilliams1607
@elizabethwilliams1607 28 дней назад
That's unfortunate. I am sorry you aren't well. I wouldn't say he was *blaming* people, it's just that most people who say they are, aren't, just a fact. I've seen it myself, with friends and family who were overweight. It made me think they had medical issues that weren't getting treated. But many people are genuinely unaware of their calorie intake, especially if they eat processed foods often. It's not filling/truly satisfying so we want to eat more to get the nutrients we need. Most ppl I know don't know good ways of preparing healthy foods that actually taste good too. Not their fault, but hopefully they want to learn.
@larryy794
@larryy794 28 дней назад
@elizabethwilliams1607 i guess so but im just so fucking sickly fed up with people blaming me for my weight gain. Even my nutritionist gets mad at me at this point and my mother is pointing out everything i eat. And whats more is she never listens to me when i say im not feeling well and we always end up running to the er until they give me the most intensive treatments and then im not able to exercise for months and ofc again that gets to be my fucking fault

Great vid! At the end of the day, would it be fair to say that people prone to being overweight just experience hunger differently than others? I’ve always been skinny and I have no problems feeling a little hungry… especially when I am very busy. It just seems like an extremely sensitive topic for some people, particularly those who claim they’ve tried everything to lose weight and nothing works. I am a firm believer that overweight people eat far more than they think they do…and that by simply documenting what a person eats over the course of a week - it would be easy to spot where the weight gain comes from.

Hunger, genetics, environment, food quality and much more. It's multifactorial.
