Hello friends. Long time no see, not for lack of desire to connect or make videos on my part, but in part due to extreme technical challenges here (long story) and in part to an exam coming up (and subsequent time constraints). Anyhoo - the technical difficulties made it necessary for me to split my video to NYC in two - after I had already made one long version of it. So I hope you will have patience to watch both parts and just pretend it's one vlog. PS. Being in New York was just the best!
Whether you've been in NYC or not, I hope you'll enjoy it :-)
(And if you’re craving a knitting video, it’s coming!)

It was a pleasure to watch your visit to my beloved city. I was born, raised and have been an ongoing resident for decades. I live near the iconic Carrie Bradshaw apartment site and walk those streets every day so seeing the area through another's eyes was sort of a refreshing perspective. I have to add that the present day Little Italy is but a mere wisp of a shadow of its former days. The residents have moved on and up, so to speak, and many of the shops, restaurants, and pasticerrias are but memories. I am glad you enjoyed your NYC sojourn and thank you for visting my much loved city.

Thanks so much. And hoc you lucky person 😍 I love that area so much. And yes, that is sadly a tendency sometimes. So glad I (hopefully) did the city justice 😌❤️

Thank you so much for this wonderful tour of Manhattan. I lived there for 2 years in 2000 and 2001 back in what feels like another lifetime ago - when I was a lawyer and pre-children. It is indeed hard to have lived in other countries. There is always this longing for elements of the other. I loved The Met and all the plays and shows on and off Broadway. I was sad there, though. I never felt part of a community and always felt quite lost. Wonderful experiences but no framework to put them in. Maybe if i had found the knitting community there, things might have been different. The last time i was back was in 2004 with my 18 month old daughter. I had never realised how many playgrounds there were when i lived there, having never been looking for them. We saw Madonna's daughter Lourdes there in one of the playgrounds. There always seem to be celebrity sightings. I would dearly love to go back and tie it in with a trip to Rhinebeck. I have to wait till 2026 when i get Long Service Leave as it doesnt work with my school holiday dates as a teacher. I would also love to see the 911 memorial, especially having lived through the attack, fearful of what was next, and grieved with the city afterwards. I lived in the West Village which I loved. I love all your references to movies and books. One of my favourite books as a teenager was The House of Mirth - I enjoyed Edith Wharton's writing very much. I havent read Catcher in the Rye but it is on my list. Thanks again for sharing and I am now trying to figure out if i can squeeze in a trip in my September/October school holidays this year. ;)

What an amazing trip to New York, and lovely to see the city sights through your eyes. I would enjoy seeing filming locations and others with literary connections. The Statue of Liberty is such an iconic landmark, very special to see it close up, and I loved the misty New York skyline. I'll watch part II this evening.

Wonderful big🍎❤.... I lived in Florida in the late 80's and visited New York for a day in a very cold January....I saw lady Liberty from a distance and for years drempt I had to see her close up....Maybe one day. My daughter and I booked a trip to New York for December 2020 but sadly due to the virus we had to cancel. Thankyou for a wonderful video of sprintime in New York. ❤ from 🇬🇧 Just off to watch part II. PS like you, a part of my heart remains in the US 🇺🇸

So glad to find 3 new-to-me videos from you, Helle! I spent Easter 2022 in Manhattan after a work conference in Newark and it was so lovely to re-visit that trip and many of the same places through your two NY videos. Thanks for such a beautiful trip down memory lane 💖

Dr Pepper and Ding Dongs! 😂. Loved your comment about outer and inner diversity. I totally agree. I wish I could take everyone on a trip to NYC (and other big cities) for exactly that reason. 😊

What a walk down memory lane for me as I lived and worked in NYC in the mid 80’s - incidentally for Ralph Lauren. I loved the mention of three of my favorite things from the States- Target, Dr Pepper and Ding Dongs!!

I was just telling my husband the other night about you coming to the US and going to New York. I didn't know you had been there before, and quite frankly I was worried about you ;) but now I see your husband & daughter were with you & you knew your way around...so whew I am relieved. LOL silly me. I should have known you are adventurous & brave and enjoy all the positives of a city like that. We live about an hour east of San Francisco, and I love to go to the city, but my husband not so much. Neither of us are really the big city types, but I'm so glad you are and that you had a great visit. I haven't watched part 2 yet, hope the positives vibes continued. Glad you're home safe & sound...

Thanks so much for your worries/thoughts 🥰 Interestingly, though I love certain cities (also Paris and Amsterdam), I often long for peace and quiet when I’ve been there a week. Who knows if I could even live there… ❤️

We went to NYC a few years back to spend a fun week at Christmas just window shopping and enjoying some cool weather. It was before I rediscovered knitting so didn’t visit any yarn shops unfortunately. 😢 But just want to say, as the US seems to be the target of so much ridicule or angst these days (we are certainly going through a period of painful growth) it nearly brought tears to my eyes to hear you speak so gently and respectfully about your visit. ❤

I really enjoyed this. As a longtime NYC resident, it's always interesting to see the city through others' eyes. And better yet with this one, you were in the W. Village where I live now and E. Village where I spend a lot of time, with many places in my daily routine shown, including the supermarket. My only complaint is you were standing on the corner of an iconic NY pool hall with a great neon sign where I spend too much time, but filmed in the other direction! Looking forward to part II.

You have excellent taste in our junk food - ding dongs, twizzlers (strawberry, please) and reese’s. Yum! I made my first trip to NYC with my son last year and walked more than I had in years. So much to see and take in. I do love Central Park. Looking forward to part 2! Xoxo

I noticed that you were watching the movie The Banshees of Inisherin on the plane, he is a knitting story related to the movie, a lady here in Ireland has handknitted all the aran sweaters for the actors in the film, she knits the tradional way, not on circular needles but the ones with just one point and she knits the back first then the front and then the sleeves.

Thanks for sharing this. I did know that someone knitted them but certainly not how ☺️ (and I did also pay extra attention to them while watching it 😻)

Very much enjoyed your views on NY and how it differed from the first time. I thank you for the kind commentary on a city that is often made to seem like its only so rude and nasty of course it can be but so are many other big cities in the world. I hope you daughter enjoyed it? I loved going to Ellis island and the Statue of liberty. The amount of things you did was amazing
