A Rather Surprising Glen | Glen Quaich | Royal Enfield Classic 350

I recently discovered the Glen Quaich pass that leads to Kenmore. I take the Royal Enfield and am not disappointed that turns out to be a fabulous bikers road.
The DJI Action 3 is on a chest mount today for a slightly different POV.
My initial impression of Glen Quaich was the road had excellent views but was not a particularly difficult ride, but it soon turned out to have some interesting switch backs. I hope you enjoy as much as I did.

This will be added to my bucket list. I can imagine myself stopping in one of them slightly larger passing places and getting my stove out for a nice brew and take in the scenery. I'm always forgetting something at the moment, there so much to take with you just for the videos alone, Batteries, Camera.Bracketry, Tripods. Great job Take care.

I was late leaving that day so decided against stopping but it one of the must do roads when you come up here. That tricky double bend is really steep and tight but just needs a little patience. This road has been in the news the last couple of days, the Police have issued a warning as road is closed but it seems folk still trying to drive up the road. They must be mental to even think they could do it.

SShh ! Don't tell everyone as they will all want to do it. When I lived in Fife I used to do that run a couple of times per year. Last time (1999) my Bullet 500 broke down just at the start by Amulree 🤬😭 Good to see that cattle grids have replaced gates that you had to stop to open then close again behind you. Best thing about the Bullet was that I got to see much of backroad central Scotland. From the cab of a RAC recovery vehicle admittedly, but it's the thought that counts...

There only a couple of days of good weather up here so I have no doubt it will stay quite 🤣 Now that is a long time ago and I guess they were well known for not wanting to run for long. Thanks for the great comment.

Mick from 5D traveller sent me here, after I made a comment on his Bobby Bullet Cornwall trip about happy days on holiday riding from Dunkeld up to fish Loch Freuchie on my Kawasaki Z250. I came off on a corner on one trip, I remember, (4:10 on your video, actually! ) as I was so keen to get to the loch lol. I dusted myself down, pulled the bike out the ditch, and continued to go fishing 🙂. Another time, I get caught in the worst thunder storm of my life while fishing this loch. I could smell the ozone in the air, and the thunderclaps shook the ground. I sought shelter at the only house near, knocking on the door, and the kind folk gave me shelter as lightning struck trees nearby, blinding in its intensity. I'm pretty sure the solitary house was where those buildings are to the right at 5:18 and the little road to the right shortly after is where I used to go down to park the bike up beside a little bridge. I would love to ride those roads again and cast a line, although I bet it's all private fishing, now.

Evening T Bone and lovely of Mick to recommend my little channel. That thunderstorm sounded scary and excellent the locals looked after you. I am not a fisherman but plan to head back up there next year. Thanks for looking in 👍

Thanks for the video, Bleary. It's great, brought back great memories from 1980, and you have a far better sports cam than I do on my videos. I hope to get a better one, maybe even one of these near fangled 360 ones lol, for 2024. You did well at the tight switchblade climb, too, despite the dozy car driver!

Did this road earlier this year on my Classic 500. I rode up from Ayrshire to a Royal Enfiled meet at Powmill, then over to Crieff the sma glen then onto Glen Quaich to Kenmore, Loch Tay Glen Ogle then home. Brilliant ride and the RE is a superb bike for it.

Morning Alex, this is indeed an absolute gem of a ride. Having spent almost 20 years up there running coach tours, it's great to know that there's so many places I've yet to experience, and this channel of yours is giving me an ever growing tick-list of roads that I have to/need to ride. I have a particular fascination for the wee white roads on the road map, and as it stands, this one is at the top of that list! I'm planning to come up there in April on the Himalayan, mainly to revisit my Royal Deeside tour area, so it's looking like there's going to be a detour or two included in the trip. Cheers anyway Alex, I'll get through them eventually! 👍🏍️

Thanks for that Alex. I often take the Tummel Bridge, Aberfeldy, Crief route when I'm heading south, Glen Quaich looks like a great alternative. I don't think I'd want to take the K1600 over there these days but it would be great fun on the Bullet. Cheers, Mick

@@blearyview2254 unfortunately no, just enjoyed the ride, I always prefer going over from the Amulree side, it seems better doing the double hairpin going up hill than going down, it's a weird camber, or maybe my brakes aren't so good. It is a lovely stretch of road.
