Perfect Timing :-) I just built a smart kart for the original total station I made some time ago and ran into this issue. Just tested your suggestion using some tie down straps I had on hand and they worked great! I love my total station and the added mobility it has now. I have learned so much from your channel. Appreciate all you do!
I’d probably drill a pair of 1-inch holes in the bottom of the bench, with in easy reach of the end holes, and loop the ratchet strap up through one of them and back down through the other. I’m building a variation of the original Paulk benches. I Intend to place on top of my existing assembly table in the shop, for doing lay out and cutting, which will still be portable when I need to go onsite. Kind of similar to the Stanton bench in concept. I drive a Japanese MiniTruck, so i am designing my benches to fit flat in the 54X72-inch bed, and let me fill the cubbies with tools/supplies, and then fold the bed sides back up to seal the cubbies for transport.
Many times I use rope ratchet for things like that. They are quicker than the ratchet straps. There are many types out there. You might like them for what you are doing. I like how you always looking to improve
I'm getting more and more excited about building out my new shop space. Hopefully starting in May. While it's going to be a permanent shop it will be SMART
Great idea Ron. As I look at your trailer in the background, I wonder about how you keep it dry at the ramp door in rain and snow. I can't keep mine dry. Would you be willing to do a short video on the weather stripping features on your door?
Good idea! Ron, I have a rolling set if drawers that are about 30 x 96 and plan to install your workbench on top of it. I’m considering a modification so I can mount my table saw so it will set flush with the top. Have you ever considered that? I envision a series of 20mm holes in the side for indexing the saw carriage and two of your dog brackets to hold it on. What do you think? Love the design.
Great benches. You work with ply so why don’t you create a strut that pegs into position under the table saw end from the base of the saw horse legs to underside of bench edge. That will remove the pivot point of the bench. If the bench is used without the cart then you only have the legs to brace to One end or both ends.
Good morning Ron i love your videos, i just wanted to ask you if there is a way that you can make plans for the smart trailer, for painters i have 7 x 14 trailer and i would love to do what you did, but it won't work for my trade. Thank you
This benches are at the height for the Saw. I used it that way for years as I did not want to lift the very heavy SawStop. BUT! as I have preached from the mountain tops in many videos that being able to quickly move the benches now that I have the Smart Kart is the MOST SIGNIFICANT feature I have discovered. 😎🤙Watch this one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5rPYUQhleB8.html
