I just installed this on my original Defender after receiving it a few days ago - It looks so good and slim, Cody does excellent work.

@@aizaobba ordered the defender 1 long barrel holder which I own one of each my other defender 1 is the shorter version I had him shorten it a little more than factory. I was told you can use pipe tubing cutters to shorten the barrels. I own some already but I’m sure you can go to a hardware store that cuts galvanized or black iron gas piping and get them too cut them down on there machine. My barrel holders from Cody are supposed to arrive tomorrow.

I’m confused where do I get actual barrels for the defender?
@user-bl4mc7yk4g
@user-bl4mc7yk4g Год назад
You know that this defender cartedige holds twice the air volume and twice the psi as another cartrdige airgun called the modoc 9mm rolling block. The rolling block send 85grain .357 slug at 1300fps max 190fpe using a 28in long barrel with half the volume as the defender and only 2800-3000psi max fill. So I cut my defender barrels in half to 4in or 3.5in sun with a .457 165graub slug I get 50fpe using a .457 165grain sabot with a 356 center slug I get 78fpe and when I use a .224-257 center slug I get the same power and 15-19in penetration from 4in barrel. So what I'm saying is why not throw on some 26in long .357/457 barrels? I'm sure with a 85grain .357 it'll hit the same 1300fps as the modoc could with half the power and pressure it'll probably have more fps. When using a sabot it'll get 100-180fps more automatically at least that's the difference in the 4in barrels. So that's a fricking 1400fps gun! It wouldent be to hard to get a 85-95grain .357 sabot with a .224 center slug which could do 1200-1300fps and get you a cool 38+in penetration. With a 165 grain .357 sabot you'll be able to probably top the modocs 190foe since it's max fpe used 125grain slugs so the extra speed from the sabot along with the extra weight will probably make it a 200-225fpe gun. With a .457 sabot that's 180-200grains I wouldent be surprised to hit 250fpe or more and a sabot with a .257 center at that weight would do 50+in penetration! I have found a smaller cal barrel tends to get a higher velocity compared to bigger caliber slugs of the same weight I believe due to the air pressure being concentrated on a smaller surface area in the back of the slug making it have more energy per square inch which transfers to a higher velocity it's what I've observed and that's my hypothesis rn. So a .308-.257 barrel 24-26inch long could probably send a 70grain sabot containing a 40-50grain .22 center slug at 1400+fps and a 150grain sabot with 22 center at 940-980fps with 300fpe of power and that's a hunk of damage. I hollowed out the short .410 barrels to fit 9-12 buckshot balls. Do that to a 24-26in barrel and you've got a overunder shotgun. You could just 3d print a new foregrip ECT and throw on a mp40 style under folding stock. Remember 4in of the barrel sits in the pistol so a 26in barrel is a 28.5-29.5in long gun with stock folded. I've devised how to use these cartediges on airguns that are tube or mag fed and don't require them attach to the entire barrel. Simply weld on a female adapter like on pvc pipe that's the diameter of the barrel it's around, then have a tiny piece of barrel only long as the bullet is screwed onto the cart just so it's enough to cover and keep the slug in. Then what happens is a mechanism pushes the slug forward inserting the small barrel holding the slug into the female adapter pushing both barrels right onto each other making a air seal, you could even put rubber gaskets inside the female adapter to. Then the metal block that pushed it forward locks and the firing pin comes out of that, bursting the disk, expelling or waisting no air thanks to the seal and staying still from the locked mechanism. Then be it a pump or a lever action upon pushing out or pulling the lever down the locked mechanism retracts back pulling the used cart with it from strong magnet in the mechanism and once it's all the way back a spring is exposed which flips up kicking the cart out as the spring pushes the next cylender into place and upon closing the cycle continues. Bullpup would be awesome with this. You could have a 28 in barrel with a gun as big as 32-34in only! Crazy cool because it'll be so light and sleek from not needing a tank or all of that stuff. A single shot bolt action would be very easy tho. Just have a bolt that has a groove the base of the case slides in then u push the bolt forward, push the bolt hand down to lock and fire, then the cart comes out with the retracting bolt since it's still in the groove on the bolt face. I guess you could have a magazine for it actually if you put a ejector that pops out when bolts all the way locked back with a brass deflector so it goes out the side. Wouldent be to crazy. The thing with me is they had 1300fps big bore carteidge airguns with 200fpe before that only used 3000psi and half the volume so it's crazy that no one has made something from these carts so I guess I will. It'll be cheap as shit to. Costs $30 in 3d material to print new stock and stuff. Some simple welds, groove cuts, a spring fire pin, barrel and metal female adaptor and weld for $100-$200 if I do it or I pay my friend to, materials to finish the guns aesthetics and secure the barrel and stuff into the polymer body like $25 if that and there you go! A fricking single shot bolt action pcp cartrdige rifle that should do AT LEAST 1300fps but probably closer to 1500 with a 85grain .357 in its 26in barrel. And get at least 200fpe probably more 230ish. Not to shabby for a cart gun, with a light .257 slug in a .257 barrel you could probably get them 60-70grain slugs to hit 1600+fps just zooming and .457 with 180+grains will do you 270-300fpe. And the gun will only weigh as much as the plastic and the barrels metal lol. All for under $450 not including the cost of the carts lol

I really wanted one of these but i kept seeing negative reviews/ people saying they arent reliable. If they cant hold air for longer periods of time then it defeats the purpose?
@airgunnerreviews7888
@airgunnerreviews7888 Год назад
This topic is exactly what I plan on talking about in my next video! Many will probably disagree with me but I find the newer 2.0 air cartridges to be unreliable and can leak overnight even. The original AEA cartridges hold air much better but need to be tested once a week and I use a chronograph to measure the fps, if there is even a 10 fps loss I no longer will trust the cartridge. There should only be a few fps loss if any, in a weeks time. I have 4 air cartridges that hold perfectly for over 2 weeks but that is as far as I will go without performing a maintenance fill to top off.

What's the fpe ?
@airgunnerreviews7888
@airgunnerreviews7888 10 месяцев назад
The original 1.0 Defender with a 4” barrel is around 20 fpe using 81 gram jsb pellets. The newer Defender uses 2.0 air cartridges that hold more air and offer much higher fpe but in my opinion it is less reliable unless it is modified with a new frame from Cody at Pneumatic Fanatic

what did you mean about having the less lethal because of NYS. I was under the impression the defender with the sabot barrels were legal for non firearm rights people.
@airgunnerreviews7888
@airgunnerreviews7888 Год назад
For home defense yes but conceal carry or keeping it loaded in your car could get you in trouble! You cannot carry a pellet or bb pistol/gun because they can be deadly. Tasers are illegal and you can only buy pepper spray with 1 ounce or less irritants. NY doesn’t believe in self defense for citizens and the only people with firearms are criminals! So far launchers like Byrna and Umarex loaded with hard rubber balls are not regulated (yet)….
