They really knew what there were doing when they designed Sunfyre - and I'm not referring to his beauty. I'm referring to the fact that he is literally a Golden Retriever who likely has ZERO concept of violence or pain until this day.
That isn’t at all true the design is taken from the books and in said books sunfyre is a badass he kills just as many dragons as vhagar while being much much smaller don’t disrespect my boy sunfyre
Im not sure why are they killing each other tho. Dragons are sentient beings and i get that they are loyal to their riders but i can tell you my dogs would never hurt eachother even if i told them.
I know I feel so bad for him, he was so young and didn’t want to be a big scary war dragon is just wanted to fly for fun, get loves and cuddles, and just please Ageon. Makes me wish Alicent would have died somehow before her children grew, imagine how happy and well cared for her children would be if raised by Rhaneara
Agreed. Dragons are dangerous, but not heartless or mindless. The fact that they were practically driven to extinction by a family squabble breaks my heart.
As dumb as Aegon is, I feel pity for him. He was self aware enough to know that he'd make a horrible King. When he's basically forced into it, he genuinely tries to be good at it, but isn't smart enough to realize that he is just a proxy for Allicent and Otto. Getting rid of Otto and appointing Cole as hand, was lunacy. When he tried to assert some authority, no one takes him seriously..his brother and mother mock him to his face.
Aemond proved himself 100 times dumber than him this episode. His character was assassinated. Only the biggest idiot in Westeros would try to kill a dragon that is on his side when the enemy time already has a numerical advantadge in dragons.
@@masterplokoon8803 idiocy, arrogance and overconfidence. He must be thinking that getting the biggest dragon of all means no one would be stupid enough to attack him and Vhagar. But it is painfully obvious that Aemond thinks he would make a better King than Aegon. He saw an opportunity to take him out and he did.
@@allanaalberto9730 Aemond obviously thinks that he would make a better king than Aegon, just as Daemon thought about Viserys. But like Daemon to Viserys, Aemond was suposed to love and be fiercely loyal to his brother he though he might think he was a fool. Their relationship was meant to mirror that of Daemon and Viserys. Not this crap. Aemond was arrogant and overconfident but he was never stupid enough to actually try to kill an allied dragon. His character was completely assassinated in the show. And they had him regret acidently kill the person who took his eye but then had him purposefully try to take out his brother and king right in front of his army.
Dude is hilarious, dont want to be king, got crown. Getting drunk, then join the battle with the most beautiful dragon. He living his life at fullest. Cant bring myself to hate him.

I feel so bad for aegon. Just a child who never be loved. Only by his dragon . Sunfyre was so cute to him in the dragonpitt . And thsi betrayel by aemond..😢
Aegon is an arrogant fool. The only one I feel sorry for here is Sunfire. Aegon decided to prove something to someone, rushed forward, contrary to the plan, and earned it. If he really wanted to start ruling like a king, he had to stop drinking like a drunk, listen to advice and really start ruling. But he made fun of his brother, called him a faithful dog in front of everyone, and now he was counting on something? After so many years of humiliating Aemond, I'm not surprised that he didn't spare Aegon much. Although, there was no direct hit on him. The blow was aimed at two dragons at once according to the principle of "who will be lucky". Meleis is faster, she dodged. Aegon, with his stupidity and arrogance, framed little Sunfire. P.S. And yes, Aemond is not a stupid drunk who only dreamed that he would not be touched and allowed to continue drinking like his brother. He is a victim of bullying, also crippled in childhood. And now the series is really trying to make you love Aegon exclusively, spitting on everything else. Aemond is a crippled, abandoned child. So it's all a tragedy, and from all sides.
@@atulkumar-lm7cgactually, yes, she could have. Meleys was much faster than Vhagar. If Rhaenys had decided to make a run for it, there was very little Aemond could have done.
Rhaenys was also a warrior though. To have retreated would have meant giving up Rooks Roost and thus for sure allowing the Greens the chess position they were looking for. Even though her chances were slim, she was still their best hope to ward off a loss. She took a risk and died like a true queen would have- defending her people and followers.
@@travelback5700 Yes, she should have. But she knew that killing Vhagar would have ended the war and prevented a lot of deaths. Too bad she didn't succeed.
Didnt realize Cole cared this much about Aegon.. nice to see somebody have a little sympathy for him for once i get tired of watching his entire family constantly treat him like shxt when they forced him to be king and the kid (besides his flaws) just wants to rule and be a somewhat normal king.
I dunno, I feel like Cole's falling to his knees was less of an "oh no poor Aegon" and more of an "oh no I already was a fraud of a Kingsguard by breaking every vow and standard of the order, but now I've failed to protect the king, my one main job, I genuinely failed the White Cloak"
just earlier he was told to be unworthy of the white cloak and then he fails to protect the king, him, of all the nutsacks currently part of the kingsguard.
Aemond is soo doomed. He was a kinslayer by accident - now, he is one by purpose. In the eyes of the Gods, he's even more forsaken than Daemon who commanded the murd3r of a child.
Daemon will never hold a candle to Aemond when it comes to depravity. Aemond is a nut. Period. Daemon's order was to kill Aemond and if he couldn't be found, get the next best thing which could have been Aegon himself, but he was surrounded by his frat brothers or Jaehaerys. Aemond strategically planned this out, it was not accidental.
@@Virgohorrorlover I agree with you. Daemon, at least in the show, shows at least to some degree remorse for the consequences of his actions. Aemond, however, has really gone completely off the rails, in the show. :D
@@patricklawler7650 Yes, he did. It'll be interesting to see how things will continue from here. Maybe Aegon doesn't remember a thing. Maybe he will be unable to speak. Will Aemond try to k1ll Aegon again - or will he regret what he did? Can't wait for the next episode
@@zachrobinson6801but Aegon is now crippled this will weaken his cause greatly. She should have retreated then her and daemon launch a joint attack on Vhaghar.
Rhaenys saw the realm tearing itself apart after she hesitated. Daemon berated her for it. Before Ameond and V even showed up, Rhaenys was willing to die here.
"Beloved daughter of Lady Jocelyn Baratheon and Prince Aemon Targaryen, faithful wife to Lord Corlys Velaryon, mother and grandmother, the Queen Who Never Was lived fearlessly, and died amidst blood and fire. She was fifty-five years old." Her epitaph from Fire & Blood.
So no one will say a word that Aemond and his dragon were the one to burn Aegon and his dragon? Aemond just committed regicide and kinslaying…. I swear if the show acts like it’s only Aemond and Cole that know the truth…
To be fair 90% of the army was more interested in not becoming charcoal than watching the fight properly, they were in the middle of friendly and enemy fire (literally) so they couldnt see propely who attacked who, even after the battle, most of the army was disoriented, fighting the castle forces or leaving, probable only Cole was after Aegon and Sunfyre
Would not benefit the greens in the slightest to reveal the truth anyway. Much better to just have aemond replace him better chance that they will win the war.
Isn’t aegon going to remember that Aemond tried to kill him? I guess there’s the excuse that he got a concussion. I don’t blame Aemond for trying to kill aegon though. All of the bullying from Aegon and seeing him as unworthy for the iron throne…
It looks like Aemond intentionally wanna kill Aegon II, he order his dragon to breath fire without hestitation when he clearly saw Sunfyre still fighting Meleys
some people suffers from amnesia for a mere crash accident, so a dragon falling from the sky with his rider and a severe burn.... there are high chances he actually doesn't remember that Aemond was the one to do it
It’s pretty obvious aegon knows Aemond is attacking him so I wonder how they play this going forward. If they’ll make aegon to scared of aemond to do anything or they’ll just make him forget it cause of his injuries
I wondered that too! At least from what I've heard, in the book he does take a year to recover while being on milk of the poppy, so completely clouded. He does remember who Rhaenyra is and what he does to her tho. So I wonder if he'll be too scared.
@@stefanodegioia1598 Sunfyre recovers after eating all the burned soldiers by crawling around like a fire wyrm. After this, the locals bring him Sheep and Cows to eat. His wing grows back but at an odd angle affecting his flight some but he can still fight and fly. Like a broken bone grows back but if it isn't set correctly it will be off some. Aegon on the other hand take almost a year to recover and has a bit of his armor fused with his body from the intense heat.
Aegon is maimed for life...but still Alive!! thats confirmed by Joffery the Sadist kid himself..As far as Rhaenys is considered...IDK wth She tried to acheive by going after Vhaegar..? you could have literally displaced Aegon....then maybe later come back or plan an element of Surprise from Harenhall for Aemond
She probably knew Rhaenyra would lose the support of her lords if they saw that a black dragon came to help out a black aligning castle (Rook’s Rest) and then left as soon as Vhagar showed up
@@waltertheterrible6062 I get your points.....and tbh As I saw more of how Rhaenys was all the way planned for such a thing...to be sacrificial but for a greater cause....for her House and Family....I think it kind of Grows on her....True while watching I couldn't bear it easily that "The Queen who never was" lost like that just cause She decided to pull a "Nah I am gonna go all in"
@@waltertheterrible6062Doesn't matter, Sunfyre is down, they also know Tessarion is in the reach, so there is only Dreamfyre and Vhagar at max in king's landing. They could have easily had Meleys and caraxes fight Vhagar and syrax and the rest team up on Dreamfyre or what not. After that it doesnt matter if Rhaenys left Rooks rest behind.
Nobody want s to listen Daemon. When he said Rhenys to go with him to kill vhaegar, what is crucial for this war, sehe denied. And now she atacks vhaegar alone 🤦🤦🤦I know that this is series butt...
I think there's more factors, though. Yes, in a fair fight between Vhagar (alone) vs. Caraxes and Meleys, yes she'd loose... but not without a price. Vhagar is BIG and crazy powerful and fast for something that big.! Even IF they killed her and lived, Caraxes or Meleys could have been seriously injured. Almost guaranteed they'd be able to kill her, but at what cost? More importantly, in that scene, it's important to remember that Meleys and Rhaenys were both exhausted from flying. Daemon tells her to mount up, meaning she'd be even more exhausted and less prepared for a fight. Without her speed, I'm not sure they actually "could" have beaten Vhagar. More importantly, they would have been fighting over Kingslanding... where the entire Royal Army, every Scorpion bolt aimed at them, plus Sunfyre and Dreamfyre are in the Pit. Daemons plan wasn't thought out well enough. He'd be taking a worked up and exhausted Meleys up against an entire City, armed with weapons to shoot down dragons, plus a fully rested Vhagar... who might not be alone. In isolation, yes, Daemons plan might have worked. But his plan was for too rushed and impulsive. In the end, he'd have gotten himself and Rhaenys and their dragons killed.
EVERYONE shits on Daemon! The sad thing is he was right. They should have attacked KL in season one. This would have possibly stopped the war in its infancy. No one listened to him. Next, he wants Rhaenys to help him kill Vhagar and Aemond...again, he's ignored, and this happens. The same way Otto and the Green council wanted Rhaenyra and her children dead is the same attitude Daemon has towards the Green's.
Aegon was in no position to be fighting another dragon, poor Sunfyre never stood a chance. He should have just served as a support and moral improvement role
Aegon should actually act on his threats. His words are useless if he doesn't mean what he says. Your own brother tries to betray you, and make you look the fool? Banish him to The Wall and sever his ties with Vhagar. Your own mother wants to use you as a puppet for an oligarchal court? Paint her as treasonous and throw her in the dungeon. People have to remember that this family made their own bed. Aegon has all the power, and they frankly do not. Otto Hightower being replaced was an example of Aegon showing his teeth. He needs to surround himself with people who believe in his cause, and all others be damned. Nothing more, nothing less.
@@Alex34567 he cannot sever Aemond's ties with Vhagar unless one of the 2 dies. And which dragon would they haave left ? Daeron's Tessarion is small, and Helaena's Dreamfyre... is limited by having Helaena as a rider. With Sunfyre crippled they only have Vhagar as a battle-ready dragon.
@@Duke_of_Lorraine There is a loophole. The books have stated the dragons actively avoid going past The Wall. If they send Aemond beyond it there is a possibility of severing ties there.
@@Alex34567 dragons may simply be hesitant to cross the wall but it doesn't mean it severs the connection. Also it assumes Aemond cooperates while he probably realises it would doom his side.
I can not hate Aegon. This destiny was pushed to him. He never wanted to be king. He deserved better! All his actions are justified in my opinion. When he finally accepted the crown the felt something... Like he was meant for more.. but he never wanted this.
He even tried to run away but they dragged him kicking and screaming to his coronation. When he attempted to step up into the role, they treated him like dirt simply because they want a malleable and mindless puppet. His family sees him as nothing but a thing; a means to wield power. It's so dehumanizing.
@@angryguy2724literally all of them are awful. I don’t feel sympathy for any of those spoiled brats, especially from the black side. But Aegon is truly the only ALIVE (ironic) person in the show. And he definitely did not deserve this kind of destiny. If you think otherwise…well. Get some help. Thinking that burning a person alive can be justified because he was sometimes making fun of his younger brother doesn’t relate to adequate and mentally healthy people. I hope I’m wrong and you don’t think that he deserved that.
The books aren't accurate actuallyl, the writer said so himself. They were written by the greens, so naturally they wouldn't have mentioned Aemond killing Aegon
@bugcatcherjacky1334 nah this isn't canon either, its the show writers changing st. The only canon is what comes to mind with grrm and the closest thing are the books.
They sure have altered them a lot . All of the Greens are potraying as either completely mental or stupid beyond measures. But for Aemond being like that towards his own blood is absurd.
@@NPC1173 its like so obvious of course in the books they gonna give all the credit to aegon for everything that happened because he was the king and the maesters who wrote the book supposedly
This was personal. He knows Rahenys was an experienced arial combat, Ageon had no chance as you can see she was about to kill him anyways. Without a male heir he would become the king. He already won, there was no need for him to get his hand dirty. He did it because Aegon annoying him for his whole life.
Aemond was like a snake, cold, calculated and knows the precise moment to strike. And he was aware that Vhagar was a old dragon who probably couldn't face Meleys at full strength so he waited for both dragons to weaken each other.
You will have to edit the title dude. He or sunfyre are not dead, but Aegon would have been better off rather than suffer an incredibly painful slow death and his dragon broken wing.
@@patrick4662 He doubled the strength of his forces. He kept Rhaenys busy. And he proved himself a warrior king. That goes a long way. Perhaps now Alicent will shut her stupid mouth.
Despite his many terrible character flaws (let us not forget about the raping and child-fighting), I actually felt bad for Aegon. He had enough self-awareness to know that he would not make a good king. He didn't want it and was forced in to it. I think Aegon wanted to be a good king but just didn't know how-and his council wasn't helping him. They were not taking him seriously and trying to make him a fit king. Instead of lifting him up and truly supporting him, his council and family blatantly disregarded him, making no secret of using him as a puppet. Imagine seeing your brother coming to your rescue, only to realize that your worst fears have come true. Here we clearly see how Aemond and Daemon differ; Daemon would have never betrayed his brother like this. Betrayal cuts the deepest because it always comes from the people we trust. Also, poor Sunfyre; his little greeting with Aegon at the Dragon Pit was cute 😔.
Aegon looks so terrified and unprepared up there... Rhaenys looks like a competent warrior. poor little sunfyre though cole realizing aemond might just be a monster...

Not really she’s wearing armor, the flame wasn’t directly on her and she wasn’t in it for long. People run through fire all the time. Plus Targaryen’s have a resistance to it
Was that blood coming out of the dragon after it was attacked? It looked like something was leaking from it and landed on the people that were on the beneath it.
Moral of the story here: Figure out how many crosshairs are you actually on before you sit on the throne. Aegon was delirious enough to put on shiny full metal and mounted on the most beautiful dragon to do the very thing he really suck at. On the other hand, Aemond had every reason to have Aegon away from the throne even just for a period of time. He could be regent prince at the very least since Aegon just so conveniently lost his heir. He could use the vacancy to differentiate him from how Aegon operate his court. Also Vhegar though formidable in size is not skilled enough for precise assault, Aemond could very well shift the blame of mutilating Aegon to whoever party was in the battle. Treachery does run deep within family.
I love the effects and everything, but I don't really like how this betrayal is portraying Aemond, he never would've done this despite his dislike for his brother
People witnessing Meleys go to town on the smaller Sunfyre, witnessing Vhagar go to work on the smaller Meleys and yet they act like Meleys had a chance to beat Vhagar?
When he's looking at the kings knife that was passed down I wonder if he sees the song of ice and fire written. When you put it in the fire it shows up. I wonder if thats what he was staring at when he picked up the knife. Only rhaenyra knows this because her dad showed her in season 1.
