I didn't have time to set up all the usual cameras for this flight so I didn't capture the actual moment. I've only got phone clips from the whole day.
Haven't flown for a month due to all the terrible weather and Christmas etc.
Took Archie up for a short flight on a clear cold day.

Charming little vlog. I love Henstridge and it will potentially be my new base in the future. Archie has grown up so much from when we first started talking!

No GoPro footage this time! Just phone clips. Sadly no footage of the ASI failure moment, but my reaction to it and thoughts on it at the end of the day. Great day though, and wonderful to get up there. Do you ever get the 'dread'?

I’ve had that dread before today. My last training flight had the artificial horizon fail while in imc. Backup vacuum made it come back partially. Was laggy but still gave some rough indication. Mostly used the turn coordinator that flight. It’s funny we had planned to do partial panel practice on the way back. Ran out of time since we had to do an unplanned approach to another airport nearby to get back under the cloud.

Jeez! You lost your AI in IMC?! Wow. That's some experience in your bag. I'll never forget my IR instructor making me to unusual attitude recovery in actual IMC with partial panel. Turn coordinator and ASI only.

Air speed indicator problem scares me 😅 can you let me know pls, how much of an idea does X plane give to flying a real plane? I have read its very close in terms of controls and physics, but that it's much easier to land on x plane and much harder to stall? I guess I'm generally trying to figure out the main differences

I've never flown x plane!
