Ok let's be realistic here, continuing to price increase games is only going to harm and shut down more companies which has already been happening. Not every game sells like COD and Fifa, I'm not even going to count Gta since that takes 10 plus years to even happen. There's already alot of triple A studio's hurting because ALOT of gamers wait for sale. Those launch sales matter and I want to point out I don't blame people for waiting it's already expensive enough as it is but doing another price increase so soon will increase those numbers of people and do more harm to these companies than good. The CEO's are being mindlessly greedy. This is not a fix and I'm worried doing this will cause some of my favorite studio's to shut down

Step 3 of the "Four Steps for Ideological Subversion" (Yuri Bezmenov, 1985) Crisis-This is a major step lasting up to six weeks and involves a revolutionary change of power. This is where a cataclysmic event (false flag event, civil war, invasion) upsets and divides the country thereby creating panic among the citizens. To Americans, symptoms would include circumventing the Constitution (re: Use "privately owned" social media sites to restrict free speech/First Amendment rights) and altering the checks and balances of government , and possible martial law. Creation of economic, financial and national security crisis. Also includes social crisis and a breakdown of previously self-evident restrictions on moral behavior. The Cloward-Piven approach is used to create more takers than producers (re: More workers than available jobs) The crisis produces benevolent leaders who will promise to deliver things to meet people's needs through “hope and change” (ie: Hitler’s rise to power amidst a disenfranchised German population reeling from the economic effects of WW1) through social and economic justice. False illusion that the situation is under control if strategic directions are followed-Bailouts, regulations of industry and so forth. What do all of these big AAA companies and other large corporations have in common these days? Other than greed, I mean. If you are being intellectually honest, you see they have all jumped on the "progressive" Liberal (Marxist) bandwagon of "Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, PRIDE" and other "social justice" talking points. Why is it these people promote Marxist ideologies, yet when it comes to running their businesses, they are the most unethical, greedy, manipulative Capitalists on the face of the earth? They are useful idiots whose purpose is to create division in society, economic turmoil and the scapegoats for all of our problems. This will give Conservatives, led by DJT, the opportunity to enact a revolutionary change of power in which they remove Liberals from positions of power, authority and influence so we can have a "Great Reset" of the economy and society.

'Games are expensive to make' - Development studios say...yet never realise they are expensive to make BECAUSE of the way they are making games. There are exponentially more people playing video games today than 20 years ago...they sell more copies at higher prices AND have fewer deductions and costs to account for compared to making a game in any other point in time. No longer do studios/publishers have anywhere near the same costs involved in physical manufacturing/shipping/global logistics and third party brick and mortar stores taking their cuts from sales. Marketing is vastly different...no longer do they have the same expensive costs of advertising in legacy print media and TV and other stunts they used to do. They have social media and digital platforms to market on instead. The actual tools with which they make games have become vastly more efficient and productive. ALL of these things combined highlights there's some BS with the blanket statement about games being expensive to make. Games are expensive to make now because they make them that way...look back at games from the past...some fps game for example. They had half a dozen weapons and they were the same at the start as they were at the end...but NOW: 20 weapons and each weapon has multiple component parts that can each be sold and packaged separately with their own skins and colours and model variations and...and...and...scopes and sights and stocks and grips and dibbly-bobbly doohickeys that have no purpose...and they need one of 47 different currencies to acquire. And all of those things have to be designed, prototyped, modelled and animated. Before you know it, instead of one dude that made the weapons for a game... you instead need half a dozen artsts, several animators and modellers and then extra devs to make it all work yada yada yada...and then there's loads more sounds required that need recording and processing and whatever the F else goes with it all. That's the problem...overcomplication.

With regards to $80+ games, I'm reminded of an old Star Wars quote. "The more you tighten your grip, the more systems (people) will slip through your fingers." The more money they demand up front, the less players they're going to attract. They're also going to attract even less players if they start banning countries from playing their games. Cough cough.

Me too, but you have to realize this is also part of the problem. If they don't get their money up front, they''l get it on the back end--through MTX and "games as a service" so, don't think you are clever. you (and me) are huge part of the problem. they are going to get their money or they aren't going to make games...so who's winning? you? fuck no...games fucking suck now.... you aren't winning anything... now you have to pay the piper. that piper is shitty games designed from the outset to fleece..... congratulations, smarty pants..... you're gonna have to pray too.

@@oliverdurgen5953 Nah. There are always good games. Even when studios close, even when teams disband, there are good games. Just recently, Dead Space remake, RE4 remake, Baldurs Gate 3, FF7 Rebirth, FF16. Your theory is flawed. Live-service and mtx aren't prevalent because "they'll get it on the back end." The prevalence comes from the fact that live-service and mtx works. It ain't about recouping losses. It's about maximizing profits. So no, we aren't part of the problem. We're the solution. If people would just stop providing publishers those profits "on the back end" then they would be forced to provide you with a better game upfront to convince people like you and me to purchase full-price. But, they don't. Because they don't have to. Me not supporting good games at full-price isn't a vote for crappy games. Them supporting crappy games at full-price and mtx IS a vote for crappy games. @Daniel-Star

The part the video game CEOs always leave out is that the market size of video games is expanding so you need a smaller market share to make the same money. And since video games have moved so much to digital you only have unit one costs so you can make money on a game for 15 years for the same price. CEOs only care about their own pay so they need to make the bombastic game that makes a 400 million dollars in a year rather than a good game that makes 1 billion dollars over 15 years for the same price.

Honestly, I felt most games at $60 weren't worth the price they asked, and that was totally separate from the fact that those games had in-game stores, ripped content stuffed in dlcs and pre-order bonuses, deluxe editions, etc. Besides Elden Ring, I haven't bought a new game over $50 since stores started making $70 the norm. If we start seeing $80, I may just move to strictly f2p multiplayer (I mean, if you want a Ubisoft and Netherealm game on time, you already have to pay 10-30 dollars more, so).

One big thing i hate about modern games is how much things change in multiplayer games. For cod its constantly weapons being buffed or nerfed, LoL constant buffs and changes etc. If you aren't constantly playing a game you are always having to relearn things. Cod 4 - BO2 were the best because when a game came out it was out, no constant weapon buffs, you learn the game and master it, take a break and come back and things are still the same.

If they raise the prices of games I am just going stick to my backlog until the game goes on sale. I'm in position now where I buy 4 or 5 at release so if it's baldurs gate or Spiderman I will pick it up. If prices come up I will cut it down to 2 or 3. Only 3 games I've my eye on day 1 release this year is Star Wars, Wolf Among us 2 and Assassins Creed and I'm on the fence on Star Wars

Maybe if they stopped trying to make Forever Games and single player games with at 100-1000 hours of gameplay they wouldn't be so expensive. Used to be you bought a game, played it for 13-20 hours and then moved on to the next game, maybe replay the old one every year or two. Now it takes forever for one game. I keep coming back to Tomb raider as a perfect example. Tomb Raider 2013 was a near perfect game, linear, took about 13 hours, natural progression, was great. The two sequels suffered heavily from Open World Busywork with the crafting system derailing the story for hours, and the tombs not being short and optional but entire levels with gameplay requirements, poh and Fast Travel is now needed.

Worst thing about the siege subscription service is how unstable and unreliable the servers are on that game. Finding a match with a full party van sometimes take 5 or more minutes even with the host having strong internet connection, then if you cant reconnect to a match it will ban you for an hour because of their own server issues. Its honestly a ridiculous joke to ask for any money for the kind of connectivity their putting out.
