Exactly. Problems can exist with anything. I've had a FN 509 that wouldn't feed 115gr reliably, an FNS9 that had the back strap come lose from the frame while firing, a P320 that ejects at 6 o'clock, an many more. Rob gives recommendations based on use, and the kind of feedback I value as much as I would from trusted family or close friends.
My AK102 was ripping brass cases in half and steel cases barely fell out of the ejection port. The chamber was out of spec. Their warranty replaced the barrel and bolt. Works great now.
My GF3 had an out of spec bolt, causing light primer strikes, I believe it was out of headspace. Got it "fixed" by PSA... Still having light primer strikes. I'm glad so many people are having good luck with their PSA, but mine (and my buddy's 5 MOA GF5) have been a joke.
Appreciate the honesty when keeping us updated Rob. _"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing. If you can fake that, you've got it made."_ *~Groucho Marx* Stay classy my friend.
Yep. They are more than happy to both offer 50 different models of AK and also ship a Rock without the FCG cross pins. They need to just have the 6 AK100 series models be top notch, and offer different furniture sets.
Just got back from the range with my Zastava M90. I'm slowly progressing towards 556 AK's strictly due to ammo issues. Glad that your 102 is still kicking ass.
I purchased a PSA-102 a while ago. The 102 has quickly become one of my favorite guns to shoot. I also own the 104 and 105 versions as well. While they are all great, the 102 stands out as the best of the group in my opinion.
I have a saiga 223 and 5.45. I have stopped shooting my 5.45 because of the ammo issue. My saiga 224 has become my favorite rifle to shoot! I might have to pick up one of these PSA rifles after watching klayco beat up a spiker with full auto. Thanks for the great videos!
Excellent update, thanks Robski. Lots of folks trashing PSA AK's so it's great to see your experience. Love your video's, and today you get ++ style points for adding the moustache at 8:05.. 🤣😎👍
It’s not for no good reason PSA gets trashed by consumers. I’m all for them putting out budget-friendly products. But I’m not going to be one of these people that gives them a pass just because they haven’t experienced getting a lemon from them. And I’m glad Rob says something about it in order to keep PSA honest.
I didn't even know PSA offered this rifle for sale. I'm still a PSA skeptic, but this version could be a viable option for my next AK which I would like to be in 5.56. 7:42 100% AGREE!! PSA: STOP offering so much BS trying to make everyone happy and stick to making fewer products with a keen attention to detail for each!!
Idk why people hate on PSA... Every big company has QC issues like SIG or COLT. PSA is probably selling more AKs than Soviet union back in a day lol. Also PSA makes not only AKs , but ARs and pistols.
@@kellyharbeson18Well, you’re more vested than I am. I’m more vested in 5.56 with all my AR’s and non-AR’s. Easier for me to shoot 5.56 AK’s than burn through my 5.45 stash.
At least let PSA give you some ammo. They are getting real benefit from your content. Let them give some benefit back, to you and to us. The more ammo you have the more content we get. Win for you, win for us, win for PSA. We trust you to keep it real in your reviews. (Except for those petty internet commandos who are going to call you a shill no matter what you do.)
Thanks for sharing as always. It's awesome PSA is making these for us, but I agree the sheer quantity of SKUs is pretty crazy. I don't know if that is necessarily a potential problem though in terms of Q/A because they are all AK's, and in that regard they are all the same. So unless they start making other similar Ruskie arms like the VSS (hey, I can dream), SVD, PKM, Bizon, etc. then I don't see that as an issue personally. Hopefully they are keeping quality a priority. I know nothing is perfect and everyone makes mistakes, and they do seem to stand behind their stuff. I just got two PSA's myself and have only fired one so far and it has been good except the pic rail top cover it came with is not secure and it won't hold zero - i'll follow up with them on it soon but I'm confident they will take care of it. Honestly at this point it would just be nice if AAC started making some steel cased 5.45 and 7.62 to feed their rifles - hopefully that is actually coming.
Considering PSA 101, Beryl, or M90. Hard choice.... But I won't be able to for a year, maybe a little longer. So I'm hoping imports will continue. Would like a Beryl most, but afraid of the imports drying up by the time I can get one. 😵💫
Rob you are an informative channel, not like a lot of these other boobs. I just can’t believe some of these boobs have so many more subs, you really deserve more Sir, so thank you for all the info Sir!
My buddy bought the AK-102. The railed dust cover and top handguard rail were both loose and the rifle suffered from light primer strikes. I think the light primer strikes were because of head spacing issues...He sent the rifle back and he's still waiting on it to be fixed after a couple weeks. The fact that it had so many problems right out of the box was a little alarming to me. How that got out the door is beyond me.
@kramdog3000 first time I dropped it off at the retail store, I live in Charleston SC, it sat in the PSA store for 2 months before they realized they forgot about it. Over 9 months of waiting and multiple trips in for warranty. Highly advise anyone wanting an AK to look into the very best builders first.
I don't own the PSA 102s in 556 yet but all the PSAs rifles and pistols in 5.45 and 762 run like sewing machines with zero malfunctions or unnecessary wear . PSA is building excellent quality firearms now in both platforms .
The AK-102 is a shortened carbine version of the AK-101 rifle, which was derived from the original AK-47 design and its AK-74 successor. The AK-102 is chambered to fire 5.56×45mm NATO ammunition, and is made exclusively for export purposes.
Buying my 5.45x39 on gun broker pretty reasonable. Especially the 7N6. I've stock piled around 14 spam cans and a few thousands of non-corrosive so far. Great video, thanks Rob..
Wow that’s a good amount on 7n6, my local GS had a mountain of 7n6 Spam cans by the entrance for $160 each when I would walk in they would always beg me to buy a few 🤣 unfortunately I didn’t have a 5.45 AK, do I feel stupid now or what 🥴🥴
My AK102 hasn't been able to make it through a single magazine without at least 3 or 4 failures to feed. Through 240 rounds, I've had about 32 failures to feed.
Rob...I need a review of the PSAK 101! I love the 102, but don't want pistol brace or SBR issues. I looking for a full length barrel 5.56 and be cool if PSA is make one cheaper.
My VEPRs are the same. I put a KNS on each one and could not dial one click before it would not cycle. It seems that the hole in the piston is enough to slow the ejection force. If I would have known this, I would have just drill a pocket on the piston.
I want a PSA 102. I got my first PSA 4yrs ago(GF3). A 2nd(GF3) 3yrs ago and got a PSA103 2yrs ago which to me is basically a GF3 with a 103 muzzle. Had no problems with any of the PSAs so far. I even sold my 1st GF3 to an offer that was too good to pass on.
i bought a new GF5 and yes it packed full of features and shoots great BUT i did have to warranty it and once i got it back still had the same issues . sent it to local gunsmith (after wasting $40 on a range day) and he got it working properly . will not being buying another rifle from PSA
Having options is nice but letting guns that aren’t right out of the door just to have to fix them later isn’t nice for the customer, I wouldn’t care if when you ordered one it had a three week waiting period to assure it’s built properly and the fit and finish is right
Yes, I talked about it in the first episode, he did not like Tula 223 at the beginning. Later on, was fine, but when rifle was new, it was not cycling. But, that isn't very much surprising because Tula 223 is known to be underpowered, but, I felt like it was important to note it.
I agree with you there the amount of options PSA offers is kind of like goddamn LOL I think they should just offer some core rifles and there's plenty of accessories on their website and or others that you can customize those rifles to your liking instead of offering 1,000 configurations😂
Rob, love your page and follow your recommendations. Just wanted to bring up a controversial AK here… Cab you review the Pioneer Arms forged series of AKs? I’ve heard good and bad. Thanks!
Counterpoint: if you want to get out of 5.45x39 and can find someone willing to buy the ammo off you for 50-65 cents a round. Might be a good time to get out before a new source comes and drops the price. Especially if you have a collectible imported 5.45 rifle like a sar2 or an slr104/105. You could sell all that and buy a genuine Swiss made sg550/551/553p!
I just took mine to the range for the first shots. The first 20 had a few ejection problems. Bolt would not cycle/ close spitting out the brass. Had to run the charge handle to do so. The next 20 every shot the casing would either not eject or get stuck, so manual charging every shot on the last 20. Wondering if changing out the recoil spring maybe a faulty produced one, I dunno. So basically it loads, shoots then manual charge to eject the casing. Still loving it despite this so I have to figure it out. AKOU/ Rob you are the ak enthusiast.
