Alone Season 9 Episode 9 Recap - 3 People LEFT!

I was rooting for Adam some as well since he was getting food and very entertaining, great attitude. This has been a great season and I really liked all the contestants. I am impressed by your selfless positive promotion of others. thank you for that. We all have egos but you certainly have yours under control. Excellent review.

Adam seemed to build that snug little cabin quickly and efficiently without spending too many calories; he seemed to be catching a decent amount of food fairly regularly (of course still in calorie deficit); he always appeared to be snacking with a bag of berries; and he was able to upgrade his cabin for winter. He seemed find new possibilities last week with the snowshoe hare. I think it was a fair assessment that he was one to watch. He did the exact opposite of Juan Pablo, he spent hours hunting every day those last few days and it wore him out.

I was with you 100% on your prediction of Adam (and tbh,, I shed a tear when he tapped). Also I wondered about Juan Pablo's decision to fast but hey, I'm definitely in no position to judge. And I absolutely love Woniya's and Teimojin's recaps!

I'm so glad that I found someone that would comment on the series. I'm sorry this is going to be long also. When we were watching your season I literally had my money on you, yes we were making bets. I made notes when I was watching this so I could come back and put my comments in on some of the things you said. You are exactly right about the first thing you said you must have a mindset and I repeat mindset or you won't make it. Right now my money is on Teimojin but we get to change two times through the season. When Karìe Lee was setting her traps you were right that you really do need to know how to recognize animal trails. I generally don't read comments and I haven't read the comments before I have written this. I really don't think it's fair that they're not able to use every tool in their toolbox to survive like they could only fly fish when there's a few ways that you can fish besides fly fishing that's not fair but I guess they have to go by the rules of that country. If you were out there say maybe from a plane crash or something and no one knew where you were you would use every tool in your toolbox to survive. That's just my opinion though. You know you were right about when you come back from an experience such as this you really do have a different Outlook on life. I put myself, personally, through a survival situation and used all of my tools from all of the years that I have done Bushcraft and survival and you are absolutely right every little morsel of food you almost want to thank God over actually I did I always thank God for everything I've got anyway but some people don't believe. You know on every one of these alone series everybody always reflects back on their parents or their girlfriend or wife or whom but when I done mine I was a loner anyway I didn't have much contact with family didn't have a girlfriend so I didn't reflect very much on family, although I did a time or two wish that my son was with me so I could teach this to him. I suppose the reason I put myself in a survival situation was just a test myself I had done bushcrafting and survival since I was 12 years old off and on mostly but on and then after 9/11 I dove deep into it. I'm sorry this was so long but I just wanted to jump in with my comments on some of the things that you said. Thanks so much for the video I'm so glad someone is following and posting I'll be right along with you except maybe not that night, I don't know. I just came on your channel so when your notification pops up I'm sure I will jump on it if I'm on my phone at the time, I think you said you would discuss it the Friday after so I'll check. I'm a bit biased cuz I'm Asian so I'm rooting for Teimojin. Plus we're friends on TikTok even prior to him doing season 9 of ALONE. Didn't even know he was participating. This season I personally felt that the final couple of people were really unexpected. To be honest I've enjoyed watching Teimojin a lot. He's done some cool things. I felt like Katie Lee didn't have much footage at the start and personally haven't really enjoyed her segments a whole lot. She is very impressive tho. As for Juan Pablo mopy mentality at the start. I know he explained how he wants to think negative so when something good does happen he's grateful but I just didn't like the way it came across. Adam for some reason I didn't really pay attention to him much. Aside from Teimojin, I was rooting for Benji, Jessie, and Terry but those guys dropped out. I was quite surprised. It's been a fun season to watch so far tho. Can't wait for the next ep.

Karie Lee was asked to write a book by Teimojin. To me, that’s a clue that she wins.

You and Jordan have been my favourite contestants to watch, would love to see more collaborations of you guys together.

If you’re right about Juan Pablo’s strategy and he’s right about the physiology of less hunger by fasting and Adam is right about small game = eking it out and we look back to how season 1 was won … then Juan Pablo is lookin real good Thanks for the insights as always

Hey Clay, Another great review. I think it's a 3 way race now. A small bit of fortune or misfortune could make the difference now. One thing that I've been disappointed about this season is the lack of big game or even many hares/rabbits. I was sure that the guys who got the beavers were the ones to beat but that didn't work out so I've given up trying to predict a winner. Keep up the good work. Cheers from Alaska

Hated to see Adam go. The grouse scene was iconic and I may never forget it! Thought for sure he would use it as a sign to stay. Then he let it walk, amazing! Well, I’m going with Teimojin. Just seems most in control to me. All are tougher than me and any one of them could pull it off. This may take a while. Thanks for the recap

I like Juan's idea. He figures it's now into the home stretch so why waste calories and energy doing something he feels wont benefit him. We'll have to go check out his book!

I'll never forget taking one of my buddies out deer hunting years ago and him getting super weirded out by me having a moment with a buck I killed and thanking it for what it provides to my family. Strange to most, probably. But I do it with every animal I kill while hunting. I'm not out there for beards or racks or trophies. It's nourishment and substances.

I cant believe Katie Lee is not freezing yet. Her shelter looks like it has open areas and its really not much more than a tarp. We will see what happens when it get even colder.

I’ve been on team Juan Pablo since episode one! My man is a stone cold killer

I was rooting for Adam, so I'm sad to see him go. I would love to see any of the 3 left win. They are all absolutely amazing individuals. I love Teimojin's "love letters" to his mom and the insight he's gained from being alone. I think the pandemic had a similar effect on many of us, in that it made us reflect on our lives and made us realize what was really important.

Bought Juan's book, thanks for plugging it I had no idea he put out a book! Already left it a 5 star review based on your suggestion alone. I was probably one of the first to finish your book and of course I left you a 5 star review as well :) Any way this plays out, it will be the first season of Alone in which someone other than a white man will win which Juan talked about a few episodes back. Very interesting to see! Not the most exciting season but I like all of the participants and the setting is challenging and beautiful.

I just bought two of your books and Juan Pablo's book. I have a group of teens that I meet with and I want to teach them the skills of survival and hunting. I don't have a lot of the skills needed in order to teach them. No one ever taught me these skills. I'm very excited to learn and then pass on these skills. Thanks for taking the time to write your books.

I just watched you win season 8 last night on Netflix, so I didn't know that Season 9 was out yet. LOL. And a late congratulations to you! I was rooting for you actually the whole time. Killing the deer was amazing. I didn't understand why you didn't try to kill a second one, especially when you had already built the smoke house. :) Regardless, you did far better than I could have ever done!

Loved your season Clay you were my guy as everything that you were was needed to win. Saying that I feel the same about Katie Lee-she has and lives who she is to win. Very resourceful amazing attitude and very small in stature at 5’1” no wonder she has a hard time hunting with her bow. She is my bet to WIN😊

Certain life events do change us and give us perspective. Like Juan has stated many times, he has experienced starvation in the past. He knows better than those who’ve never had to worry about where the next meal is coming from what he is able to endure. And drawing from that experience he’s making a educated decision. I hope it works for him.

Clay.. you had a route where you spoke about money and how it has become this thing I can't remember it but I'm having some trouble with our kids and it relates but I have brain damage from a horse and I can't remember it and I can't find it on Google. I really need to hear it again so I can help my son with his situation. I transcribed your quote and credited you and laminated it about adventure for them and it really made a difference changed one of my kids life turned him around. I try to never predict things I never expect anything but this season Right at beginning I said clay and Biko but clay will win and Biko will tap for family and It happens. I loved to learn from you. Never cease to be amazed at how frequently fishing is over looked. These guys and gals, were in the greatest brook trout region anywhere. Instead they'd burn 2000 kcals for a 700 kcal grouse. Juan's flyrod was way too short and stiff but at least he got it to produce. A great caloric return on investment. I'd love to see a contestant come at this challenge with a more analytical approach.

I watched your season of alone and knew from episode one that you'd be the winner. I was however secretly routing for Biko, lol. Although you seemed more adept at survival so you were my front runner. I also was a fan prior to alone as I built a red oak self bow based on your Bowyer videos. My bow turned out awesome thanks to your tutorials by the way. 45lb draw on a 62" recurve self bow. Anyhow big fan here Clay, keep it up and so glad you won the alone challenge! Hope you and your family are doing well.

After Benji got sick I really didn’t have a pick and a lot of people were going with Adam, but with only four left and watching the participants I thought to myself this is anybody’s game now and don’t count Karie out!

Around 18:30 you start talking about learning about the things in your life that aren’t true to you, insight from being removed from your daily life, perspective. So how about it Mr. Clay? Tell us what was it in your life that was in the way? Also, I know you to be a modern Stoic. Momento Mori, I’m sure you had thought about what you would say to your boys, or to the world that you had learned. Just as Christopher McCandless did. “Happiness isn’t real unless it is shared” - sticks in my mind.

I always thought that Juan would win because of his toughness, he doesnt even boil his water but when he got sick maybe Karie can win this. Teimojin doesnt seem to get enough food and would probably get pulled out for medical next episode

I think the next episode nobody quits, it just spends 4-10 days going thru a bunch of stuff and on the last episode all three quit when they get hit with a blizzard. The last one to call it in wins.

Whenever I pick someone it seems they tap or get pulled. Adam was my pick, so I was sad to see him go. I like the 3 that are left, and I will not jinx it by picking my favourite

We watch you, Wonija, Timogen (sp??) and saw a few of Jordan’s reviews. My grandson is homeschooled and has attended Forest School as an adjunct to his studies. Are your kids still being homeschooled? I find the reviews really help us grasp the nuances of wilderness living I’ll get your book and his book from Thriftbooks, my online source. I was on a liquid diet and all I could do was almost 4 days! I could barely walk. My legs were like jello.

I love this show! These are really good! I was really shocked by that last tap out! I like bow hunting and there are some darn good shots on here! But something has always bothered me! Maybe it has to do with laws but their deadfall skills just never seem to gravitate towards more than mice and they could have literally dozens set up to procure food. They always want to stand up a single rock with a Piute or figure 4 and most don't seem to get the angle right! If your going to set one then build a platform with short spikes on the underside and stack other logs on it to kill something big enough to feed you for a few days or weeks.

I feel your pain. I picked Adam after the first episode. Now you just jinxed Juan Pablo by picking him. We'll see . . .

I’m sticking it out with Katie Lee. 20 day fast after a rough 50 days will be a tough haul too. The Dr is putting a lot on family and I think he will soon want to rejoin his girl.

Clay, I thoroughly enjoyed your new book from Amazon. Really needed to read that on page 107. You should consider writing a comprehensive self-bow still hunting book, from bow basics and practice to hunting techniques. We could learn much from your passion.

Carie Lee talks about being in tune with nature and having a benevolent relationship with all that us around her and yet she doesn’t check her traps for two days?! So the squirrel she’s so thankful towards could have been suffering every moment of that time because she didn’t bother, She is very good at shutting herself off so one moment doesn’t really impact on her consciousness. In E 10 she catches one squirrel and talks about herself thriving. Get real Carie Lee.

Season 9 is about who ever can starve them self the longest wins. 10 of the best survivalist in the world and there not enough resources there to feed anybody. They don’t have a chance to feed them self in any manner. The producers should be ashamed of the selves.

Juan Pablo was my guy from day one, and I know that he won, but I know him, and I know lots of Mexicans and how much tougher they can be than your average person..They can handle extreme heat and cold, out work most men, have stomachs of iron, and can drink water that would destroy us..I own a little motel and these Mexican construction crews always stay there, when the housekeeper cleans their rooms, she always says that they leave their meat and cheese and mayo out, come back ten hours later and throw it in a skillet or microwave, and they never get sick..Same thing every crew..There are fridges in the rooms..LOL..There are now 50 million Americans that use food banks, it's quickly becoming a third world country due to corruption, which is a cycle that happens to every country over time..

Nice recap! I gotta say I’m not happy with the production editing at all for season 9. The show doesn’t have the feel of seasons 1-7. It’s as if the producers don’t want to show the gritty work that’s required to survive and instead delve into the mental abyss, but I don’t know what to call it. I like to see people get creative with their tools and surroundings. Not trick or treat skits or other obvious directions the participants were given to perform.

Love the show… I really think we may see Karie Lee pull out a win. My only gripe with her and a few past contestants DON’T SING! 😖

When they start talning about missing family they seem to tap. But Sarah Lee is not eating much. Bet she wont last much longer.

Not sure if you mentioned it before but why don’t you ever put in short clips of the episode you are recapping?! I think you are allowed 10-15 mins under fair use as long as you talk about it like you’re doing!

Disappointed in Adam. It was almost like Nature sent him a Sign at the end. He looked fit enough.

Squirrels seem to be the "go to" rodent this season but everyone also seems to be getting sick. Coincidence? probably not. They carry different viruses in different areas. In Denver they've been known to carry the bubonic plague. They should be taken off the menu for future shows for safety's sake.
