Alpine iLX-W650 Software Update 

I have an Alpine iLX-W650 in one of my vehicles, haven't had any of the issues you've got. Interface is faster than most other head units, radio is crisp, Android Auto functions reliably and maps/menus all load up nearly instantaneously. I've seen plenty of other videos echoing my results, with the head unit functioning as intended. Without a doubt there's one of two things going wrong here: Either you have a defective unit, defective data connection on the Android device or USB wiring or the install/setup is botched in some way.

When I first saw the 650, I thought it would be perfect for me. Thanks so much for taking the time on the update. No Alpine for me.

Only issue I really seem to be having with mine is accessing the settings menu. Since I'm not dealing with wiring into my parking brake I found out I can sire in a switch between my alpineilx-w650 and any ground point on my vehicle and it by passes that.

I installed the same head unit on my Subaru and first time it was so laggy with the apple car play and android auto. But at this time I figured out the problem is the usb. If you try to plug your usb phone the most directly way to the head unit the better it responds. I tried to keep my factory usb but now I’m using the wire from behind of the dash to the center console just use a longer usb like 6-8 feet

after firmware update my alpine ilx-w650 Asian set carplay not working and fews ions is not lighted up too . Can it be reset to default ????

Use the original charging cable. My radio and android auto now works fine

I used any shorter ( than original ) USB-C cable for android auto then it works. you may try different brand of USB-C cable also.

Heads up. New update!

Some of the plastic material may have gotten in some of the wiring connections while using the chainsaw to open up that radio finisher.

After the update my screen is flickering and the dimmer not working, all wiring, power good, any suggestions?

Can anyone help me with my issue? My head unit is stuck on the boot logo. It had been working fine for over a year as well. It was when i was connected to bluetooth but i dont think thats then issue.

Did you fix the problem? I have a issue with android play.. Keep disconnecting....

What if the parking break doesn't unlock the features? What else can be done?

Hello I have the same stereo it’s been over one year and 3 months .My screen is going out for like 20 minutes then it all works just fine .It’s so frustrating. I’ve rebooted it I’ve set reset this Stereo nothing seems to help.If anyone knows why it’s doing this please help me. I’m ready to give up and have to buy a new stereo .You can hear the radio working or the CarPlay is playing music but it’s a black screen. I called Crutchfield who I bought the radio from they said to disconnect the two running fuses wait a few minutes put them back on and reset the stereo I did that still the same problem
