Even though I joined a different branch (Navy) this video was still super helpful because I’m also going into public affairs as a Mass Comm specialist! Our A-school (tech school) is at Fort Meade as well so I’m glad he enjoyed his time there!
Matt I think a video on how to go into the Air force would be really helpful. Im currently trying to figure out if I should do ROTC or OTS once I finish my bachelors. I would love your opinion!
It's 24 college credits, not 25. I know that's only 1 credit difference, but just wanted to clarify :) Also, I really appreciate you making this video! When my husband was trying to figure out what his job (photojournalist) entails there was so little info out there so it's great that you're doing this!
I'm a Comm college graduate and I'm thinking of joining either branch as a Public Affairs Officer. I want to go into Public Relations and figure it would be a great work experience to work in a marketing/advertising/PR agency later. I also would like to pursue an MBA as well while I'm in. What do you guys think?
Great Vlog. How are you liking being stationed at Elmendorf AFB , Ak compared to when you were staioned @ Kadena AFB < Japan ? Have you been taking flying lessons since you pcs'd working on getting your private pilots license? I'm an Air Force Veteran. I got out 25 May ' 75 after coming back from Zweibrucken Air Base , Zweibrucken , Germany. Base closed in the summer of 1991.
Hey man great vid as always. Can you possibly bring someone in to talk about their job in Operations Intelligence? (This just brings up a good idea for more videos. Bringing in people in different job fields to talk about their specific jobs.)
This is my dream job at the moment but I currently have a tattoo on my hand I'm in the process of getting it removed is there any way I can still go through the paper work while I'm getting it removed?
This is great info! I'm currently studying graphic design/mass comm & I'd really like to get into PA with the Air Force. That's actually my number 1 choice (if available of course). Great to know that I'll get credit on top of what I already have.
Do you have to pay for flight and hotel for the audition? Public affairs is my number 1 as a media arts major at University but ticket to Colorado from where I am will be very expensive .not to mention hotel.
Thank you soooo much for making this video! I'm going in as a reservist but I will be doing broadcast journalism . I'm so passionate about it and hearing him talk about it made me even more excited! In the video though I think he said tech school was 6 months? I read online that it was a month and a half? And was his audition before he left for bmt ? Or right after? Also what is his rank? I have college credits so I will be graduating with a second stripe , so what would that entail when it comes to my responsibilities for public affairs? Great video and thanks again for making this! Ur awesome!!!
+TabiBerry1740 The audition is before you leave for BMT. And he's currently an Airman (one stripe). Your basic responsibilities will be exactly to what Amn Hayes has, so that includes filming, doing interviews, editing, etc. Thanks for watching!
Hey WildBlueYonder, i've been a big fan of your videos they really really helped me while i was in the DEP to prepare for BMT and the Air Force as a whole so firstly i would like to thank you for that i would have been lost without you as well as Kyle Gott, i finshed tech school about a month ago and found out i was actually getting sent to Jber AFB and then once i found out you were stationed here as well the chance to meet you was very exciting btw the videos you made of Jber also helped me with my transition here, im working as a parachute rigger in air transportation if you would want me to help contribute with this i would really really like to help explain what my job is all about since the air force website says very little about my afsc and im sure at least one person is confused about the afsc as i was if you would be interested let me know!
I would like to be either of those or a Public Affairs officer since I have a bachelors in education and a Major in Photography. Still undecided of going enlisted or officer or Active vs Air National Guard. Can somebody give me an opinion in going Officer vs Enlisted. I know its more $$ the officer route but I am more into doing things with my hands. Thats why I am undecided.
Also Active vs National Guard...I know National Guard you get your job secured and Active you have to choose from 7 jobs...but I would like to get either Broadcast or Photojournalist. How can I land either of those two. Can this be worked with the recruiter?
aimhigh_ida national guard is once a month like reserves and you work directly for the state. Active you work for the federsl government. The first step is get in the high 80s on your asvab otherwise you wont even qualify. Talk to your recruiter good luck.
@@pinkcatapult Actually, Air National Guard get BOTH federal and state benefits but that's because we serve both federal (in case of war and can get deployed like the Reserves) and the state (if there's a state of emergency or natural disaster in that state).
Hey man i need to get in contact this guy... I Graduated with a degree in communications. Which would go well with the public Affairs jobs. I need some tips on how to study.... I need a 72 on the general portion of the test. And I'm struggling with the AR portion of it and the MK.
+XboxPcMan Interesting question! Well, off base, it's just like getting a ticket as a civilian. You just pay the fine to the local whatever and keep it moving. If you're on base, you don't actually get a ticket, you'll just have to go see your commander/first sgt. Then they lecture you and that's it. It's kind of weird. However, if you get more than 3 tickets in a year, you get your base driving privileges revoked
didnt mention how easy/hard it is to book that job. like how often it drops. really interested in this job, but dont want to put it down and wait months for it to become available :/ .....open general?
+ELthatsLoreel My husband put down photojournalist as his first choice and waited 6 months before just deciding to go open general and he ended up getting it.
ELthatsLoreel Not only is it desirable, but it's also a fairly small job field. But if you're willing to wait for it, it's pretty awesome. Be prepared though, it's one of the more intense tech schools.
You're chances are 0% to 100%. Meaning we don't know when jobs drops. I would assume the job won't drop as often because it's an incredibly small field. Don't go Open General if you're job locked on Public Broadcast.
Hi! Can you please make a video about the Civil Air Patrol? People probably watch your videos who can become a cadet. This could really help their AF career if they so choose. It's a great program if you could please make a video on it. Thanks WildBlueYonder!
Don’t be fooled by the name of the job guys. My cousin does this in the AirForce and got into it because he wanted to be a film producer and thought this would give him experience in the field and was pissed when he realized 75% of the time he was just a camera guy talking passport type portrait photos of AirMen and being forced to write lengthy news articles about shit he did not care about.
At the higher levels youre watching every single news station in a room filled with tvs and its your job to "correct" the media when they get "things wrong" reporting to generals etc
+Daniel Terry Hey, my husband is photojournalist if you have any questions specific to that let me know, he's happy to help! He went in open general and got the job at BMT. It was his first choice.
Wild Blue, bro the background music is really good and I am thankful for it, but it's starting to get repetitive in the overview of all your videos. Could you change it up a bit, just something to think about
This is sweet! Do you know anybody that is a SecFo dog handler? I'm currently in the process of enlisting myself & my recruiter told me shared some info, but more would be super helpful. Thanks, have a good day :)
+Chris Zerafin Pick up the books, and then study them. Lol. That's literally the best thing you can do. Just study! And go back over the materials that are on the test to freshen up
