Saturday of the Easter weekend began with a few snow flurries and breezy conditions but rain free. By the way, I do apologize for some shaky parts due to the windy conditions.
I began the day with a heads-up that Union Pacific's MKT The Katy heritage unit, UP #1988 (arrived into Conway on Good Friday evening), was heading up the mountain east on mixed freight NS 14G. I then made my way to the bridge at Lilly, PA and didn't had to wait long before this train showed up, within a fleet of six trains between 7-8 AM.
Train traffic slowed as I made my way to Cresson's observation platform, stopping there for a few trains, including NS 506 stopping to re-crew meeting NS 25Z, both trains with normal power.
I then headed over to Cassandra's railroad overlook until about 3 PM. Action started to pick back up with a brief pause during noon. First of the trains to point out was intermodal NS 26T with a decent consist: NS SD60E, CP GEVO and NS standard cab and wide cab Dash 9 pair. Mixed freight NS 10G showed up next with a UP SD70ACe at third of three. Eastbound intermodal NS 22W had an ex-Union Pacific SD90MAC along with a wide cab and standard cab Dash 8 pair. A few empty unit trains made its way through before the westbound intermodal rush during the afternoon, including NS 21J with the PRR heritage unit at second. Since then, this unit made its way up into New York and New England area a few times.
Basically, I just stayed around the usual spots along the line. Second half of the day continues on next part.
*Note: I'm really really NOT GOOD w/ train symbols. I try to get as many as I can through my scanner or asking other railfans around me (if any).*
