YESSS!! I have finally reached the end of my "can't wait for you to see next episode" mania. Your genuine reaction to Bee getting tossed was golden. It was great seeing you react to this series. You have very interesting insight and your tearing up is always contagious, love it! Looking forward to your future reactions.

Brasso is the ultimate. THE unit. Someone that not merely every man should aspire to be...but everyone at all. Men or women or anyone else. He's just the best that someone can be. Good. Loving. Wise. Compassionate. Powerful. Patient. Selfless. Open. Humble. And when needs-be...ruthless. Honestly he's ALMOST a Gary Stu...except that he's got the depth and texture of personality to back up his sheer awesomeness. For example...you can tell by his expression as they're leaving Ferrix...that he does NOT like to fly. He's so obviously very, very uncomfortable being in that ship, probably downright terrified. But damn does he keep it down. Guy does what needs doing...period. When he gives Cassian Maarva's last words to him, you can tell he's not just parroting a message from her. Brasso himself means every single word of it, too. Even the last bit. "Tell him, 'I love him more than anything he could ever do wrong.' " It's completely from the heart. He sees Cassian as a troubled younger brother with so much potential, and in such a bad place. But he sees him climbing back up, and he's proud of it. And he's ready to support him, no matter what. What I almost want more than anything right now, is a show just about Brasso, hopping planets on the run from the Empire. Kind of thematically a lot like the old Incredible Hulk TV show with Bil Bixby. Roaming from one backwater planet to another, laying low, doing odd jobs and helping the locals with their various troubles. Maybe occasionally getting found by the Empire, or stumbling across pirates and such, and having to break some skulls as a result. But mostly, just Brasso being Brasso...best dude. Doing handyman work and just helping people with their day-to-day lives because it's the right thing to do. I could watch YEARS of that kind of show. Brasso being a truly good and amazing person will NEVER get old, to me.

Can easily imagine the dish plate being a bunch of semi articulated "rings' to fine tune the concentration of the reactor beams. So, it kinda works. Great reaction/review mate, is hard to find people that can properly notice motifs and parallels, and the show is full of those. I personally see Cassian character as an ode to all the grunts/technicians/support members that carry an insurgent movements in anonymity, while the charismatic leaders (like Kino, Mon, Leiah) are the face, and thus, the ones remembered. The "doomed in shadows for a better future" speech from Luthen, is ultimately Andor's fate.
@reverseBLT
@reverseBLT 8 месяцев назад
Yeah, it occurred to me that there was a good reason to have articulation in the dish elements, after the fact. That's why I roasted myself a bit with the memes. LOL Agreed 100 percent about Cassian and the theme of the unsung heroes of rebellions. And excellently mirrored with the unsung villains of tyrannical regimes. Both sides chug along on the steam of "little people" in the background.

This show is in my SW marathons (Ep3, Andor, RO, OT). I’ve watched it solo or through reviews on YT now probably 10+ times easily. What a fantastic show! It’s been nominated for a number of Emmy’s and the competition this year is really really fierce, but even those nominations and name drops during that broadcast in January or whenever will serve this show and SW very well. A few of these actors are in the short HBO series, Chernobyl. 5 episodes and highly highly recommended! The end credits (and music in general of this series) I still get emotional whenever i hear it. I love how it ends during a crescendo! Hopeful.
@reverseBLT
@reverseBLT 8 месяцев назад
It really is a competitive scene this year for the Emmys. Really a time when the old saying that just being nominated is a huge honor feels especially true. Chernobyl has been on my list for a while. While I've heard they took some liberties for dramatic purposes, the show seems to get pretty much universal praise for the acting and overall production quality.

Original Plan was for 3 or 4 more seasons, BUT the Director/Writer and main actor decided 2 seasons will do because they have other projects they want to pursue. And I do not think the Sister Plot will be continued, that's why his mom told him to drop the whole thing. It was just there to give Cassian a backstory.
@kenyabrunson4985
@kenyabrunson4985 8 месяцев назад
And thematically it makes -- Kassa doesn't get see his sister again; Cassian doesn't get to see Maarva again. Clem was taken away and hung, so Cassian didn't get to say goodbye to him either. He loses everyone he loves.

@artboymoy
@artboymoy 8 месяцев назад
@@reverseBLT My biggest problem with the story is what kicked it off. The sister plot could have been plausible if she were still alive and all the people we see with Maarva and Cassian, like Bix, Brasso, Pak, could have been surviving members of the Kenari tribe that Maarva and Clem went back for and so they all grew up together on Ferrix. Cassian's sister may have well ran off to do her own thing and that would have been plausible that's why Cassian's looking for her. There's no way they can ever make that storyline pay off and it should just be dropped. Cassian would have gone back to Kenari at some point to see for himself that no one survived.

The Time-Grappler (guy hitting the anvil as the town bell), would never use the hammers to hit anyone. That's why he kicked instead. The hammers are sacred, and are meant only for the anvil. Using them for any other reason would profane them. I can't remember where I saw it...but remember someone somewhere mentioning that the anvil the Timekeeper is banging on, is supposed to be Beskar (Mandalorian steel). So...here's my hypothesis. The first people to colonize Ferrix, probably several generations ago (or more), were Mandalorians. They were likely a clan or group of clans who were either too small to survive the constant wars by themselves, or who were just sick of a series of wars they themselves had no hope of ever winning. So, they all just up and left, hung up their armor (which might well be how they got the anvil...everyone melting down their armor to contribute to it as a symbol of their new community), and made new lives on Ferrix. You can see certain aspects of their culture that either very closely resemble certain Mandalorian traditions in principle, or look like something outcast Mandalorians might develop in exile as a natural outgrowth of their root culture. It would also explain why the anvil is Beskar (if it actually is) and why the entire town treats it with such reverence. The "bricking" of the dead totally seems like something that Mandalorians who turned to a life of simple manual labor, would do. Those who die in massive battles rarely have their remains make it home to be memorialized in any way. That's why glory is so much more important. But if your honor is found in having done good and honest work...then your passing is a much more somber and prepared thing. And since there really aren't songs or stories for that kind of thing, it makes sense they'd develop traditions of memorializing the dead in a very communal way, that implies even in death they're all still supporting each other. "I remember every time the dead lifted me. And now I'm dead, and I yearn to lift you." Just seems like a very Mandalorian mindset, even if it's not part of their core culture. And of course...there's the very...VERY obvious indication that the people of Ferrix do NOT take shit from anyone, and are entirely ready and able to throw fuckin hands when the need arises. That's just me, though. I'm probably wrong, just because I'm not sure the creators and writers put THAT much thought into it, regardless of how good Andor has been. But still...it makes perfect sense given what's there, and I personally like the thought.

Like missing Mon Mothma's name, you may have missed Davos name come up when she and Tay were talking about using him as a source and Davos is a "thug" and an underworld financier. He's shadey AF. Vel is Mon's cousin. Vel is an interesting character. She doesn't seem to be as into the rebellion as she was at the start when we saw her. Her conversations with CInta, who's the die hard rebel, leads me to believe she just wants to run away with Cinta and that's not going to happen. Getting into the episode, the camera we see are the same type that we see in ANH when they're blasting up the detention block to rescue Leia. We know they have them. But for some reason, they just don't use them to record their security footage. :) Dude... some security guard... just realizing Clem was with Maarva when they took Cassian off of Kenari. You crack me up man. :) Great reaction to Maarva's words to Cassian and her message to Ferrix. Such an incredible season of TV in general. I try and recommend this series to my friends that aren't die hard SW fans. It really kinda makes you wish that all SW was like this in terms of writing, acting, and production. It was fun being along with you for this and your editing and drop ins were fun. As far as season 2, It's suppose to be set up as 4 three episode arcs each covering a year leading up to Rogue One. The sister is dead. Maarva said as much. Any attempt to shoehorn her in will feel so forced, because he had so many opportunities to go back to Kenari. I think it's the biggest flaw in the story that they can't make pay off. I do see Bix being better and running logistics for the Rebellion and Cassian, Brasso, Vel, and Cinta running raids.
@reverseBLT
@reverseBLT 8 месяцев назад
Funny enough, I actually *did* catch Davos' name. Unfortunately, I then completely forgot what it was. 😅 Vel definitely seems to have decided how much she's willing to give to the Rebellion, and decided it's less than what Luthen may demand. I'm curious to see how that will play out, especially considering how dedicated Cinta seems to be. The occasional bout of face blindness is one of the main reasons I decided security wasn't the best field for me. LOL I excel at pattern recognition and conflict de-escalation, but my ability to recognize someone I don't know well is more context-driven than for most people, I think. Clem wasn't Clem until the context clues made my brain go, "Wait a minute..." 😅 It's a shame we won't get to spend more than one more season with this show, but better to leave us wanting more than to wear out their welcome. I do think we'll get some sort of button on the issue of Cassian's sister, but now that I know there's only one more season, it likely won't be a whole arc or anything. Maybe still a test of his commitment to the Rebellion, but resolved pretty quickly, and mainly just serving to underscore how much has been taken from him. Anyway, thanks for joining me for this incredible show. Glad you liked my goofy edits and my attempts to be clever. LOL Hopefully, more SW will come down the pipes that puts as much effort in as Andor did.
@colleybri8912
@colleybri8912 8 месяцев назад
I think Vel is still very committed to the Rebellion, but she has no taste at all for this mission to kill Andor - she has had plenty of time to think about what happened on Aldhani and likely recognises now that Cassian saved the heist by killing Skeen. She probably remembers Nemik’s faith that Cassian could be converted to the cause via the manifesto. This doubt about Luthen’s order translates to a lukewarm or even resentful attitude in this episode that is evident in her body language when she meets Luthen, as well as in her rather bitter exchanges with Cinta.
@reverseBLT

That read also tracks. Maybe a combination?
@colleybri8912

@@reverseBLT I agree. I think Vel is at an earlier stage of development, compared with Luthen; she realises what she has to do to be a rebel, and she doesn’t like it, and is letting it affect her. She is okay with violence against enemies, but against friends or comrades as part of the “ greater good,” … not so much.

And yet, spotted every single one of his foes first, and found their traps...waltzed right through every single trap laid for him, and waltzed right back out. And not ONE of them even knew he was there at all...until he alone deliberately revealed himself to Luthen. Clem seemed like such a good dad :(. Brasso is Star Wars Sam, I hope we get so much more of him in season 2! GODDAMN Bix does an amazing job! The reveal shot with Mon's daughter struck me as slightly hesitant, her only caring because Mon doesn't want it. Maybe that's just me. If you remember, Davo said that he had met Perrin before. Brilliant play from Mon. Yes, it will run right to Rogue One, but it will only be one more season. Each arc in season 2 will cover 1 year. They wanted 1 season per year, but Diego wasn't up for it :(. I agree that they can make in-depth stuff that kid and adults will enjoy, I just don't think we're going to get it from Disney. @@reverseBLT Thats great to hear, i wish i could enjoy them, but i cant appreciate show that treats me like a fool to enjoy, Kenobi made zero sense, was terribly written, directed and felt cheap and let to nothing, destroyed canon and was just complety useless for sw. Mando S1 was very great, simple formula, mysterious new things, Mando S2 was much worse in my eyes. just fanservice without proper character arc or something new, S3 was horrible and halfbaked and again, had soo many plotholes and illogical thing just lile Kenobi, also Din was sidelined and uniteresting, Grogu was just there and show felt very low budget with its small cast and meh locations. I personally disliked Ahsoka show, especially last two episodes, its was all soulless and badly written, but ep 4 and 6 were quite enjoyable, but fter Andor all shows look even worse and by watching Ahsoka finale i finally realized that i am not target audeince of this halfbaked projects anymore, Andor S2 is my last big hope for sw.

I don't think Davo Sculdun is actually "bad" in this situation. He's a "crime lord" of sorts, because he does a lot of shady shit that now mostly involves money laundering around the Empire. But...here's the deal with that... In the time of the Empire, MOST crime bosses have it super rough. Only small-timers who can hide better, or those that can find a way to basically work FOR the Empire, can get by. The Empire hates the criminal underworld, because it's not part of THEIR order. But, some of them are useful, and get used as such. Others again are too small to bother with. Davo Sculdun has a pretty substantial operation. The guy is stupid wealthy, and his operation handles planetary scales of financing and other activities. He probably rivals most Hutts in this time period. He doesn't work for the Empire, and pretty clearly doesn't much care for the Empire. He probably does business with them because I'm sure they need to hide shit too. But...he's not their bitch. And he's still helping other people hide money from the Empire as well. So, my hypothesis is that Davo actually HATES the Empire, as much as anyone, and that all this time, he's already been secretly moving money for the most of the different rebel factions anyway. He already knows full-fuckin-well that Mon has been funding Luthen, and he's all-in for it. I think that, when the Alliance to Restore the Republic actually finally forms, he'll be one of the key reasons for its formation through the fact that he's already managing nearly all of their funding anyway. The reason I think he wants to marry off his son, isn't to get one over on Mon. There are hundreds of Imperial Senators more scandalously vulnerable, and politically influential, than Mon is currently. Senators that would get him a great deal more say in the Empire than she ever could. She is, after all, NOT going along with the majority, most of the time. If he wanted to buy his way into the government, she's a rotten choice. What he wants...is to PROTECT his son. Marry him off to Mon's daughter, send them both to Chandrilla to live as a happy couple separate from what their families are doing. If something goes wrong and Mon and Davo get caught...the kids won't suffer for it. Despite the questionable nature of the practice of arranged marriages and how rarely the couple gives much of a damn about one another, I think Davo actually does care. I think he and his wife are actually fond of each other, even if it's not "love." And I think they both truly love their son, and want the best for him. I really believe Davo just wants the children to be safe (particularly his son), while also helping work against the Empire he despises. He just also happens to be a ruthless crime lord. "Just because you are bad-guy, does not mean you are 'bad guy'."
@reverseBLT
@reverseBLT 8 месяцев назад
I honestly had no idea just *how* shady he was. I knew Mon saw him as a thug, but she's also from a strata of society likely to apply that term more liberally than maybe it should be. I figured Davo wanted the marriage for the prestige and legitimacy more than the actual power, though. It would certainly lend an air of respectability to his name that he would clearly find useful. He also seems to have a fair bit of pride, so it must chap him a lot to know he's looked down upon, despite his wealth and success. It would be a pretty cool detail to learn he's already getting his hands dirty working against the Empire. SW loves the scoundrel with the heart of gold trope, so it would fit.

A beautiful show - even in its elegant ABCA story structure We start off on Ferrix 11 episodes ago, we end on Ferrix with ... in the words of a Prince song I remember ... "ohh! Everybody' s here! ... This is the jam of the year!" Love the stormtroopers in this ... they stand around in the background thinking that they won't be deployed as usual ... but then the riot police fail to hold the line. What follows shows how ruthless stormtroopers are (and should be! ... especially the one with the massive big gun on the armored vehicle - picking off civilians left and right!) I just wonder what Dedra is going to do now ... if she goes back to her superiors, she'll probably be demoted - maybe even executed (if the Imperial forces failed to eventually take control of Ferrix and left with their tail between their legs) The former is more likely, as - surely - the Empire's vengeance on Ferrix would be overwhelming - even a dozen TIE bombers could do the job I think Dedra and Cyril are going to escape together ... neither can go back to the Empire now. "Bonded by circumstance" (aw! - puke) Of course Dedra going AWOL would be reason to brand her as a traitor to the Empire - so she might even, if she says she's sorry (lol), be allowed into the Rebellion if she promises to tell them all she knows. She ... yet ... could be of use to us ... ... or, she gets turned over to Saw who uses Bor-Gullet to extract the necessary information I noticed that Dr Gorst's method of psychological torture seemed very similar to Bor-Gullet ... leaving the victim mentally destroyed Karma is a bitch Dedra.
