Thanks for adding to the list! I actually listened to Sunrot Before. I had no idea they were queer though. It's actually quite the cliché in trans spaces, especially transfem spaces that there are a lot of us who primarily listen to some quite extreme music. The reason i followed you in the first place is because i am actually into extreme music and you have some lovely takes on it and your ear to the ground about some cool stuff. I definitely had a blast finding out about black midi and surf black metal. I'm transfem and that's totally my jams. So there's quite a lot of bands with trans members that make some quite extreme music. And there's several people who maintain lists like mine. Signal boosting other queer musicians is a common practice. On that note, Here's my list. The most telling bits was Rob Halford's own interviews about when he came out. When you have the legacy of Judas Priest, nobody cares about your orientation. Rock hard enough and they will come.

Religion and government are "the system", and metal is aggressive against the system. Metal is not aggressive against marginalized people. It's against people who abuse their power in the system or exercise their power over marginalized people. That's why metal is against organized religion and fascist governments, and not against a person's skin color or sexuality.

It's very much alive in "the west" even if it's less televised than before. LGBT positive churches are the vast minority. 3) Aggression is what metal is made for. You kill the genre if you remove the aggression. Way better to have a musical outlet for anger than anything else.

@@awoo2004 That's what leftists like you to believe in an attempt to vilify their political opponents. On the right it's only really the more extreme religious majority groups that hold that view. However on the left also have groups that hate LGB people, from religious minorities (which often get protected by and marked as being left wing), socialists, communists, all kinds of stereotypically left wing splinter groups like TERFS, etc. And then I haven't even touched groups that are left or right depending on how you define that spectrum. Support for or hating LGB people is pretty politically neutral. The only real difference is how support takes form, for the left this often is a bunch of chest beating and flag waving while for the right it means treating them like everyone else.

If a person is saying something they believe is right and necessary, then they aren't "signalling", it's just sincerity

I genuinely would love to know why you think this is bad. If the guitar said "pineapple on pizza is good" is that virtue signaling? If it said "make love not war" is that virtue signaling? If they actively work to contribute to protests and social change, is it still virtue signaling?
