Great tutorial which contains a number of different techniques in a very clear and carefully thought out example.. It’s not just the script itself and what it does that is great, but it’s a demonstration and explanation of how to approach the requirement and what techniques need to be applied. Great stuff! Many thanks.

Great tutorial! Although when dropping a xlsx file on the droplet, Numbers opens the file and does nothing further. Not sure if I made a mistake along the way, any chance you can post the script? Thanks.

Thanks for the comment Dexter. I typically don’t post the actual code as I firmly believe learning to code is very much about the exercise of typing the code, making mistakes and learning from them. With that said, I would highly recommend making the script function as an “on run” script first before turning it into an “on open” script. This will allow you see see errors that occur in the Script Editor log and can help you troubleshoot more effectively.

@@ClickingKeys thanks for your swift response, I appreciate your time. I modified the script to ‘on run’ and it worked after setting a posix file, this isn’t really helpful though, as the droplet functionality is key.

Hey Dexter. I wasn’t implying that you can’t make it a droplet, but rather that when developing if you make it an “on run” it can help troubleshoot the issues you may run into. It sounds as though you’ve found the issue now, so at this point you should be able to change it back to an “on open” to create your droplet and have success. Let me know if that doesn’t make sense and I would be happy to help in any way I can.
